The Naas Botha Story

  • Statistics alone have already assured Naas Botha of rugby immortality. It is a fact of life that new generations judge champions of the past solely on their legacy in record books and just as he was measured against the achievements of his predecessors, the match-winning qualities of future stars will be rated against the statistics Botha has left next to his name.
Historians will see Botha as the perfect representative of his age, a calculating points scoring machine and without a doubt the most consistent match-winner of his time.
He is, as Dr. Danie Craven has often said, a rugby genius and arguably the best flyhalf ever to play for South Africa.
This is our contribution to ensure the legacy of Naas Botha lives on forever.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching!

It was a privilege to watch Naas Botha , during the late 1970s and 1980s.
    Dankie Naas

Not even close…….he couldn’t tackle. Dan Carter was 100x time the player he could ever hope to be. He wouldn’t be in the best 20 flyhalves of all time.

@@SuperEdge67 u are phckn hilarious, totally prejudicial and obviously know very little about rugby and phck all about his game to boot. He made plenty of brilliant tackles, that was a total wanopvatting, i.e. misconception, just lots of limited and selective perception on your side.

Naas, the best 10 in the history of the game, the best kicker of all time, and one of the best rugby players of all time, to boot...could'nt resist that pun. Fortunate to have played with him a few times, including against Maties in 1988 at Loftus, that we won, and in the 1988 Toyota Rugby Championship Final at Kingspark against Dispatch for Tukkies, albeit he threw in a quick line out on our 5m, rolling the ball on the ground to me, playing 14, that led to Dispatch scoring the winning try to win the game 13-9. You're forgiven Naas😊
