    I can relate with you, i saw this system back in 2012 when i was 11 and after i saw the price, i instantly thought i would never own this but after 7 years now.. finally bought this in january with my own money and its still 100% worth it in my eyes and would probably be the most expensive piece of gadget that i will own for many coming years..

      Sami_Got _Vibes bruh, I picked one up on offer up for $120 that is actually 5 years old, looks no more than a few months old and works like new. I had that 2.1 system too and that bumped. My next project is to upgrade the satellites to Micca Covo-s then replace the stock sub with a Dayton subwoofer. Yes I’m making sure to match ohm and wattage within reason. Also, the remote sucks but I have my nvidia shield tv 2019 remote controlling the volume but if you need to change inputs or effects you still the need the Logitech’s stock remote.

    I've had the Z5500 for 15 years and very happy with it. Just before the lock-down, the console fell on the ground and was dead. I brought it to a repair shop, but they couldn't fix it.
    Now I'm waiting for the Z906 to arrive this week (ordered online for 269 euro). Amazingly, for the Z5500 I paid a whopping 356 euro, that was 15 years ago.
    Thanks for the review, I'm sure I'll love this beast as much as you do.

    Man after hearing you amazed of these speakers and me too (as an owner) just take a look over these people giving negative reviews about this product , because it stopped working in less than 2 months , or other stupid reason.
    I bought this 6 months ago , works like a charm , can't even go higher than half , it would go insane.
    my neighbors in the first floor . always saying that , their roof is rattling(i am on the third floor) , bass on 55-60% + logitech volume on 65-70%(This thing rattles the whole building , not only my house).
    sure the z5500 (that i never seen or tested before) is a bit better compared to bass only.
    Man it just feels bad , that people are either driving them on full power with bass boosted songs, So that it would stop working , Or they cannot setup this system.

    • @kwastek
      @kwastek Před 6 lety +1

      Maybe you could give me a bit of advice. It would me optimal for me, for space, cabling and visual reasons, to put the subwoofer on a wardrobe. But I'm afraid the wardrobe could make ugly sounds by acting as some muffled resonator or just by grating at its joints. Do you have any opinion on that? I know the sub ought to be put on a floor, but I guess I'd put up with it being up high, save the mentioned possible problems.

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 6 lety +2

      Sure I'd be happy to give some advice. Ideally when buying a system like this you have to keep one thing in mind which is placement. Remember each satellite speaker is mountable so if you can, try to do that but if you can't that's fine too just remember to space these out all around you if you can, this is a 5.1 3D sound system so placing the satellites in key spots where sound can bounce off walls properly and get to you in the best possible way would be most ideal. However if you can't put them around you then you can put them together in one spot however the 3D aspect will be cut down a bit. Now for the subwoofer. Seeing as i know first hand how loud this woofer can get for only 165watts, i would say that it honestly does need to be on the ground, maybe behind the head of a bed or couch or something where it can be hidden if possible. In your case if all you might have is putting it on top your wardrobe then here's what might happen to the sound especially if the wardrobe is higher than about lets say 3ft or so. The sound will come out as normal but you will hear it a little weird, meaning the bass won't seem as punchy as you think it should be and the sound will most likely bounce off walls in a way where you might not feel the full bass however there is always the chance that maybe if you place the port on the sub closer to a wall ontop your wardrobe then it's possible for it to still sound pretty decent. All in all buying a 5.1 channel system means you need to make sure your placement is right so that you enjoy the full range the speaker can give. I hope this was of some help to you and if you do have another question feel free to ask i'd be glad to share my answer with you.

    • @kwastek
      @kwastek Před 6 lety

      Thank you VERY much. So I guess I'll just have to buy it first and then test for the optimal placement. That is ok, although my original plan was to first install all mounts, sockets, put the wires inside drywall, and only then bring the guest of honor, when everything is ready. But you helped to convince me it might be unwise. On a different note, I don't know if you need such things, but I already bought a bluetooth receiver tp-link HA100, which I think is a great thing. I'll connect it to the stereo RCA input (#2?) and I'll be able to conveniently play music from my laptop or smartphone. Also, I plan to buy a HDMI to toslink conveter to have surround sound from my laptop. And, since I may put the subwoofer/amplifier somewhere far from my desk, and I love using a knob to set the volume, I also checked out possibilities to extend the control cable. Random VGA cables will most probably not work, but I found a generic screened multi wire cable and some plugs, so I guess it'll be feasible to make an extension.

I am definitely considering getting one of these and replacing my floorstanders because I now have a corner desk setup and the floorstanders are too big haha!! • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 5 lety

      So the system overall has 1000watts at peak power. RMS power is 500watts which is the main wattage you'll look at. All five satellite speakers give about 67watts each while the subwoofer itself pushes 165watts. Now since all the sound is going to come from a tv then i'd say for the best experience look at the back of the tv for an optical port and use that if you have one and you'll get the best sound response that this system can offer. if not a basic AUX cable to the TV will do the trick. Also just in case you wanna connect to the tv but not have an aux to play from your phone for example, there is a bluetooth module you can buy for 20bucks extra to solve that issue. hope this helps you out.

      you probably had a defective unit and didnt break them in before using at a higher volume. i know people who broke them in first, and they used them almost every day at max volume for dubstep, trap, edm etc etc and they lasted for years. you gotta play the speakers at 25% volume for an hour or so when you first get them before turning up the volume.

    Ok here comes question from a noob
    1. What does level button do ?
    2. What does the mute button do here?
    3. When i use theese the input it is on 1 what if change? , can u connect pc / tv same time if, how? There is a Black, green and Orange on the Cable, i conneted all in to pc, what is the Black/ orange Cable for actually ? I guess i Only need the green to the pc, what Could i do with black & orange?

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 5 lety

      1) The Level button is to adjust the volume levels of the speaker. What i mean is that it will adjust the rear speakers volume to give more of a presence, you can raise how much bass you want etc. 2) The mute button will mute the entire system but not pause the music. 3) Yes you can connect to multiple different sources at the same time and change the input when needed. The Black Yellow and Green cable is mainly for computer sound cards if your computer has one. It's a 6-channel input for computer sound cards, but yes you can use just the green one and still get audio because the green one is just a general aux cable/input. But if your computer has all three, connect all three to get a better audio experience from your computer. Hope this helps you out.

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 4 lety

      First, I'd like to thank you for watching lol. Honestly speaking, the choice really comes down to you, if you're looking for true 5.1 surround sound then i'd say the z906 is more on the entry level end, producing great sound for the money, but with no HDMI port like modern systems you're stuck with using optical connections which although isn't a bad thing, doesn't give that super quality sound that one might look for. Now that doesn't mean to say go out and buy the most expensive thing you see, you should gauge it. How much is your budget, where do you want to put it and then work form there. As for the Z906, i recommend medium sized(10' x 12') to almost large sized bedrooms(12'-13'x14'-15') or a medium sized living room since living rooms are bigger than bedrooms. This is for sure a great system especially for a bedroom but if you have the budget then there might be something out there that cost a little more but might be exactly what you're looking for. Hope this helped you out a little.

    So I’m new to audio and I had a really big question, I want to get this for my bedroom which has an Xbox and a tv in it, would I need to get anything separate to connect the speakers to my tv? Or does it all come in this one package that’s basically plug and play?

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 4 lety +3

      So it really depends on what you’d like. If you want the speakers to be connected only to the Xbox then I believe the Xbox should have an optical port in the back and you can connect the optical cable which is included with the speakers to the xbox to get the best sound quality while you play. Now if you want it to be with the tv so you can use it after you’re done playing then you have a few options. 1) you can use an RCA connection in the back (red and white wire) to hook up from the 906 to the tv which gives decent sound, 2) you can use an AUX cable since most modern TVs have an Aux port which gives alright sound and 3) you can also hook up an optical cable to your tv if your tv supports an optical connection so that you can have the best sound quality the 906 can provide all the time. Most if not all the necessary cables should be included in the box unless you buy it used. Hope this helps and please feel free to ask more questions if you’re not sure.

    Great review. I'm thinking of getting this myself but am a little concerned. I currently have a 1000 watt blu ray surround sound system, which is 9 years old now. I am decorating my room and need a smaller unit (as I have tall speakers) Do you think this would be suitable. I plan to connect it up to PC, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro and a minidisc and old cassette tape system. Do you think these speakers will sound good enough for all of that?

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 6 lety

      OK so the short answer is yes it can lol but here's how i see that happening. The Xbox and PS4 should have optical ports in the back and since the Z906 has 2 optical ports your set there, games and whatever else you use your consoles for will sound amazing. For the PC use a basic aux cable and you'll be plenty happy with the sound output from that. Finally for the tape system maybe an RCA to Aux cable (RCA on one end and AUX on the other) would be the best for that since getting a nice separation of sound from left and right channel speakers might go very well with old cassettes. I hope this helps you out and if any other questions come up feel free to ask and i'll answer to the best of my abilities. Thanks for watching.

As I have a creative sound card with rca in and out.

    Not sure if this decoder will use speaker fill automatically to accommodate.
    My current 7.1 set up hardly ever has content that uses my rear or side speakers 🔊

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 5 lety +1

      If you use the 3D mode, the rear speakers will play but they will only play surrounding sound not actual vocals so like background noise of the scene in a movie (birds, trees, waves etc.). All five won't play the same thing at the same time. Only the 4.1 mode the rear will play the same as the front but you lose the center channel. On top of that the audio won't be as crisp only because a regular AUX cable can't pass the higher signals as an optical cable can for the rear to sound at it's max potential. Not too sure about the decoder but I believe the only way for that to work is with an optical connection as well so that Dolby Digital can be read through the decoder on the console. Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

    Yo dude, just received this today brand new from Amazon. Connected it up to my pc and did a sound test. My pc doesn't recognize that there is a centre speaker or rear left/right. But when I play music, there is some slight sound coming from these speakers. In 4.1 mode, the rear speakers work fully, however in 5.1 mode, the rear speakers only produce a quiet, distorted sound. Is this normal and meant to simulate an ambient/dynamic effect? Or should they sound the same as the front two speakers?

    • @spaceytropics
      @spaceytropics  Před 5 lety

      5.1 is meant to simulate a more 3D sound signature, that's the better option for watching movies as the rear channels take over all the surrounding sound while the center and front right and left take up full sound. 4.1 on the other hand is straight up dedicated for everything else, youtube videos, music, tv etc and it gives the best bass response overall. Your computer probably doesn't pick up the center channel because you might be using just an AUX cable and that really wouldn't portray much. Also the sound card on the motherboard of the computer must be for a basic 2.1 channel set up (only showing green,blue and pink connectors) vs some sound cards ranging from 5.1 to even 7.1 channels unless you know if you have a sound card that supports higher than 2.1 channels.That's where the black and yellow cables will come in so that a separation of sound is achieved. If your computer doesn't show anything else except for the one aux port then most likely its a 2.1 channel sound card and does not support 5.1. I hope this helps you out and thanks for watching.
