  • Compact dimensions, powerful NA engine, a fantastic PDK gearbox, brilliant brakes and a chassis perfectly tuned for almost any road. Porsche struck a dream compromise with the modernized Cayman GT4. It built a car that works on every road we know. However, we like to ride it most in the Italian Dolomites, where there are extremely fast passages and endless corners with minimal traffic, if you are there in the right time!

    Lovely stuff, typical Cayman though: what were they thinking with these gear ratios? You have to go down to first for the hairpins and when you go up to 2nd you're out of the powerband again.

      Exactly. As much as I love GTS/GT4, this really turns me off :( And manual is even more worse (3rd gear tops at 190kph!).

      @@jagymeister for this reason i never sold my supercharged MX-5 with short final drive. Friends of mine own a 718 spyder with manual transmission. On twisty roads they can’t keep up with my 270 hp / 1150 kg Mazda on 215/45R17 Semis

    • @jagymeister

      @@wurstschnecke7730 you have very good power/weight ratio. I have 718 Cayman S (2.5l turbo PDK) and its works very well. Flat torque 400+Nm from 2000rpm and 370hp (stock car). Id love to have 6cyl, but this turns me off… its fine for track, but boring for country roads and big bends 🫣

      @@jagymeister I always wanted a Boxster S/GTS, but the long gearing of manual transmission led me to the decision to supercharge my MX. Imo the 2,5t with pdk is the only decision for the boxster (15% shorter gears and due to pdk acceptable turbo lag). After driving an Alpine S my interest in Porsche has come to an end. Btw, i live in Stuttgart

    • @jagymeister
      @jagymeister Před 21 dnem

      @@wurstschnecke7730 PDK is shorter, but aldo 2.5T has lower redline, so its a lot shorter. I was looking for a Boxster, but got a deal for great speccedCayman (Pasm, chrono, pccb, carbon buckets, LSD… literally all options). I test drove A110 Pure and S too. I wanted to order, but they did 2 price increase and currency changed drastically too and it was a deal breaker… my 718S was around 50% cheaper.

    Whoever complains about the long gearing in the GTS4.0/GT4/Spyder: This is how you‘re supposed to drive it. First gear is a driving gear, not only for 0-5mph as with most cars. Then you have more than enough torque out of hairpins.

    I'm always in love with all of your videos. However, this one is a big NO for me. "⚠The roads are always guarded, we never drive in an open traffic!" That's not true here. You often drive very well on empty roads, but clearly, in this case, there is traffic and pedestrians and many blind turns, and you are speeding near cyclists.
    EDIT: They changed the description and removed the usual disclaimer. It was replaced with : "with minimal traffic".

    • @MiroslavKonstak
      @MiroslavKonstak Před 6 měsíci +4

      Honestly I also do not understand what "guarded" means. We can see several connecting roads with no people checking the traffic. Seems just like a "legal disclaimer"
