  • More than 70 Church Leaders from around the world are issuing a warning to bishops in Germany. In an open letter, they say proposed reforms under the country's Synodal Path may lead to schism. Last February, a German assembly drafted challenges to Church teaching on homosexuality and the celibate all-male priesthood. Head of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, joins to talk about what the German Synodal Path is. Archbishop Cordileone discusses the letter, why the bishops feel it's necessary and why he signed it. He discusses why he thinks the German Synodal Path is causing confusion for the faithful as to current Church teachings. He fills us in on what he hopes this letter will achieve. Archbishop Cordileone explains how the Church can balance evolving with modern-day situations and challenges while still upholding the values and teachings in scripture.
