This is exactly what we did on the first year of graphic design studies and the fact that this is free and well explained is incredible. I've spent 1700 dolars for the first year and I feel like im scamed because i still needed you tube for everything.
I mean he studied graphic design too! You didn’t waste your time there
And what did you study for the second year? could you tell me plz? And what kind of projects and homeworks have you done ?
i fell you bro. I studied graphic design too and payed quit a lot of money, but at the end of the day i always searched tutorials on youtube.
I've been going through the "I hate my work phase" and feeling like a complete imposter. Thank you for creating this video it's helped me see I'm not alone and provided great information.
me too so how we can fix that haha
by chance are you or do you know anyone looking for a web design starter kit valued at $200 for just $45 and i have a code for them to get $5 off?
Thank you for pointing this out "I hate my work" phase.
I really needed someone to say this to me!!!
It is common I didn't knew.
Yes I am going through this to, so I found it really helpful as well. Hang in there!
Looks like we are in the "I hate my work" phase together
I've done some occasional work here and there over the years as a designer but never really felt I could make it a real career out of it for myself. Your attitude and sincerity is really refreshing and your courses are well laid out and easy to follow. As someone who is hoping to make some changes in their life, you're absolutely providing me with some of the necessary tools and support that is so hard to find. Thanks dude!
Of all the videos I watched, this is the only channel that offers a lot for beginners. I love how informative and precise his explanations are. Good job.
I would ignore learning every design tool - I’d focus on learning what industries designers work in, then focus on which interests you and what tools those designers use.
I did not know about this "I hate my work phase". Thanks a lot for making people like us aware of this.
It doesn't matter what happens or how the industry evolves. But in my opinion, Photoshop will always be the Godfather of all creative tools.
I haven’t been using Photoshop anymore but I miss the old days of spending entire afternoons playing with it, trying to be creative and improve my craft.
Nostalgia
i'm in this exactly moment of my life as a new and young designer, your quote makes me thinking about it and enjoy more this times
They took most of the 3D and put it in their specific 3D apps that required to pay extra $30 dollars... a full moneygrab. I've been using procreate and I can see a future where photoshop becomes irrelevant. With either a one pay app or open source like blender.
What tools are you using now?

Love it! Especially the part about design thinking and what follows
♥!
Everytime I'm starting to lose my path on this beautiful career, I search for this kind of videos so I can find my way again. Thank you for posting this!
love it. i came across design thinking recently. this is very insightful. Thanks Ran
It really worked for me after I look and try some tutorials, yours is the one that worked. Owe you a lot.
I was using Illustrator and it's a great tool but I recently had some financial problems, now I'm using Affinity Designer and I think is a better alternative, is really close to Illustrator and it's just a one time payment. A better option for those who can't afford Adobe subscription.
Thanks man, I needed this. What a teacher🙌🕶
Great video! You've clearly explained the basics things needed for designer 👍👍, and the tips you've shared will definitely help beginners get started. I especially appreciate the "software and i hate my work phase". Thanks for sharing!
Such a very informative & positive video for everybody of us.
Thanks for this video. 😊🙏
I learned the big 3 in college, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Indesign. I’m able to do print, logos, photo manipulation, branding, illustration etc. If you don’t know what you want to do I would definitely learn all 3. I use all of them as a graphic designer. We did exercises for each program i would suggest looking on the homepage of the software/adobe website for tutorials. Figma is something I use for websites & at my work to collaborate on different client projects. Would definitely learn that if you want to build apps or work in corporate. I need all of this software for the different projects I take on.
@ransegall, you are trully inspirational man!
Tnx for all your contribution and advices.
I m from Brasil and started my first steps in design in the pandemic, after 42 years old and 22 years experience in another field, and was, and still is a scary but very fullfilling learning experience, and tnx you and your flux academy for everything.
I hope in the future i can contribute to the brasilian community also, and give it back to it what was given to me for free and changed my life and the life of my family.
Amazing Fernando! thanks so much for sharing! Keep at it!
Thanks for this amazing video man! The "important Notest" part was amazing. And it's really helpful.
12 mins feels like less than 12secs!!! I was frustrated and felt like I have wasted a whole year by doing graphic designing... cause Iam a self taught designer. So, I have less confidence on my work.. But fortunately reached here and got some peaceful energy😇!!! Thanks Man🤙
Thanx man, For this line, don't let this discourge you from becoming a great designer.
I'm a lot more on the code/development side of things, focusing on front-end web development but every single project I've done so far I feel like is lacking in terms of design, which is why I want to learn more about design on the side. And this video has been a great "landing page" for design, so thank you very much!
I may have a solution...
Damn! Worked like a charm! Thank you soooo much!
Am not a junior but I had to watch this. I can't afford to miss the value in it
Awesome content and feedback!! You guys are helping me growing faster in my design career! Thanks a lot!!
That's why we go to work everyday!
Thank you for this very helpful summary!
I have probably used all my luck as YT directed me to your video. Thank you for sharing this video to all aspiring web designers.
I'm still firmly on the software part. Learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies. There was this tip from Kevin Powell where he basically said when you are learning to code especially frontend, stop trying to design stuff. Instead look for ready made designs and implement those. Once you can do that then move on to learning design.
You do understand that there is a difference in UI design and front end development right?
@@Culturelens Why would I say what I said if I didn't understand the difference?
Thank you for making this video buddy...very motivating...!!
Great video brother! Thanks for the insight.
Awesome job Flux team! A large portion of this video I already knew but some awesome points to keep in mind. "Convergent thinking" hadn't heard of this one so will do some more research on it! *thumbs up* indeed

Thanks you
Everything worked
great information…
Keep on doin what u doin
As someone looking to change careers from a completely different field, thanks for providing this.
I've done this myself in 2016, after working in a completely different field to start with and only having some experience from building with photoshop as a hobby.
Definitely the best decision of my life. The first few years were tough and I was in a situation where I was in-house designer for a company, which paid very badly and I had lots and lots of work to do. Even if I felt miserable in the beginning, taking this job and learning all the stuff along the way, was the best way to actively learn and become better at all facettes of design.
Now I've branched off into website design mostly and am so glad for all the information that is out there. But the single most important thing for me was:
Get out there and design, show your work to others, offer work for low cost or free as a practice, go talk to people and tell them what you're doing. The amount of times I later in life got contacted by people that needed a designer is baffling!
You got this, just proceed :)
Thanks for sharing!
Happy to hear, good luck with your transition!
@@moodcatching OMG thank you for offering such advice! Thanks so much. I will definitely take what you said to heart and I’m so glad to hear it worked for you coming from the same circumstance. Have a great weekend!

@@tharumaravi Bro how to get a job in swiss
@Crafter Jassa Of course there is South India! I'm Tamil, not Indian and I only identify with South India and Sri Lanka. Just because you believe the map the foreign colonizers drew few decades ago, does not mean that we from the South have to believe it too. It's 2022. Have some respect and accept the diversity of this world. Stop with your 0 or 1 thinking.

What brand/type of laptop can you recommend to beginners.
thank you esp the software thing. there's so much to learn it's so overwhelming. im just learning the fundamentals so it feels like the subscription for adobe is too high, so i ended up using free or cheaper software but i know it's not industry standard. will you not be taken seriously if you don't use adobe or figma even if you have good designs?
What are your honest thoughts on Editor X vs Webflow? I’ve always used WIX, but I keep hearing Webflow is the new standard.
I have a video comparing them, check it out
I started with Step 2 and a ✏ Seemed to work ok 😭
What do you think about PenPot as an Figma alternative?
Could you please share why Webflow is better than Elementor or Divi? I am having a hard time figuring the pros and cons. I am only starting in web design but it seems like the pros don’t use platforms like Wix and go straight to Wordpress with Elementor and the like. Thanks so much for the video❤
My best friend is a long time Wordpress dev and as such is acquainted with Elementor. When he tried Webflow he admitted it was way easier and quicker to develop Webflow websites than Elementor. As someone who's not a designer, I find Webflow to be very intuitive and friendly for beginners. If your website is heavy with interactions, integrations and custom code (HTML, CSS) personalized elements, then Webflow might not be the best, but it does provide a very smooth experience for design/development.
Honestly, a very useful tutorial to break the ice going into tNice tutorials software
Glad you think so!
A lot of what you can do in Photoshop can be done in Photopea for free.
is the motivation app still available?
Now it gonna be figma XD lol

I did several web design job and haven't done some for quite awhile. because " i hate my design"
Hey Ran. Not everyone can afford to be under the Adobe empire, though with their purchase of Figma, we may not have a choice. In the meantime, what about Affinity Photo and Designer as alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator?
what??? Figma won't be free anymore??? why?
There are free alternatives. Look it up. But you do need to know how to manipulate images.
I’d say affinity photo and designer are solid alternatives, although I paid like $50 for each (one time purchases, no monthly here!)
Can someone help me. Is it worth not having a degree? Is it enough to just take free courses online? Especially if you want a serious job in graphic design? For example, I want to become a freelancer, but my website will not show any recognized diplomas or something of that sort.
Hi
Heads up, the Image Line affiliate link is broken and needs to be updated.
Hey,
Can i get the life time free version of adobe please
Why you are ignoring existing of Affinity software?
do you need a college degree to work in graphic design?
Snapseed instead of Photoshop.
