+BallLikeImKobe true. I think Montrezl Harrell might infuse some of that back into the league. But just the intensity part, not the being one of the greatest of all time part.
Feb.8th: Happy birthday NBA (Ret.) Alonzo Mourning; NBA Champion, 7 x NBA All Star, 2 x Defensive Player of the Year, Olympic Gold medal, NBA Basketball Hall of Fame. Thank you and God bless, 'Zo. Thanks for the upload, Dunkman827. Blessings
such emotion, and intensity. he really loved every moment, and the end even with the sunglasses on you can see the rivers of tears streaming down his cheek. as a longtime heat fan, looking back on his impact with the franchise along with haslem makes you appreciate keeping guys around for a long time. today's league doesn't have players like that anymore
This guy is a great player and another one of those Georgetown big men that they produce so often, at least back then. I don't think he gets mentioned enough when we talk about great centers . Big and strong and courageous as well with a definite defensive presence.
DaMn sOn Mourning is a better shotblocker than Ben Wallace. He has more all time blocks, averages more blocks per game and won Defensive player of the Year averaging close to 4 where as Ben averaged only about 2.5 when he won it.
Played in the 1A state tourn in Charlottesville VA in 1988, lost first game, all us guys in the locker room were down, coach walks in and says, "Hey y'all want to go watch Alonzo?" .....We were like "YEAH", jumped on bus, rode to Richmond, watched Alonzo's Indian River team lose to Patrick Henry Roanoke led by George Lynch, but Zo's drive and determination was indescribable and made me a fan for life. ZO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From 1998 - 2000 Zo was: 1× All Star (no all star game in 1999) 2× MVP Candidate Finalist 1× All NBA 1st Team 1x All NBA 2nd Team 2x All NBA Defensive First Team 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist 2000 USA Basketball Player of the Year 2x League leader in blocks 2x Defensive Player of the Year Then sadly the kidney disease happened and he was never the same.
But he came back and was a leader in the locker room to win Miami's first championship as well as the anchor of the defense in the leader of the second team doing this all while having someone else's kidneys in his body
loved Zo watched his whole career from Hoya to Charlotte Heat he had a will to not quit and give 150% all the time the old school coach Thompson type center period on that too think about all the centers coach Thompson created
Ik it's bullshit. Most centers back then didn't care about getting dunked on. Most centers today do. Back then was a mans game, not like todays pussy game.
Pat knew who he wanted and plucked Zo from the Hornets. When Dallas was rolling the Heat had no answer. Shaq and Wade were exhausted but Zo took that quarter when the Heat needed it and blocked everything, even the hopes of every Dallas fan. Thank you Zo!
The 90s had like 30 mega superstars lol we’ll never see this much HOF talent in the league at one time again…there’s a lot of talent in the league today but it’s just not the same
Greatest defender in Miami Heat history greatest Center in Miami Heat history!!! A lot of people talk about miamiheat culture it's the reason why the Heat always puts defense first it's the reason why the heat always put out a competitive team it's the reason why the Heat are the best team in the NBA as far as developing players from within and getting the most out of every player it's the reason why the heat never have a tanking season the Miami Heat culture it's something other teams emulate and when you talk about miamiheat you always talk about miamiheat culture and the Miami Heat culture was based on Alonzo Mourning his approach to the game his attitude his sacrifice his leadership Alonzo Mourning along with Pat Riley set the precedent that became heat culture
He and Gary Payton were the last remnants of the Jordan/90’s Era. Too many times, he got his chance at the title taken from him by the Bulls Dynasty, and the Knicks and many years later, he FINALLY reached the mountain top.
@@MrBig23435 that's right the "glove" was cut from the same cloth tenacious Defender who affected games with game-winning plays on both sides of the ball just like Zo however I do think Gary Payton was a little bit more likeable had a little bit more personality. And if you look at that team as a whole there were so many Legends and Hall of Famers on that team the majority of them at the end of their career they all had clutch moments throughout that entire playoffs but really all Road Wade's coattails in the finals
WILD THINGS yea but Whiteside didn't learn jack squat. He is garbage in the playoffs. He has absolutely no offensive capabilities in comparison to Mourning.
best blocker in histoy over 50 points player 20-10 machine back to back defensive player of the year...never got mvp ..should have got one..like wade in 2008
I am new to NBA I saw this old 90s videos and thought what the sh** they are doing right now . if s.curry the current best in the world would have not even considered as benchwarmer . they would school a.Davis easily .
You can't say that because if the "Old School" players played today they would follow the rules. It's the same if young players today played in the 90s where they could be more aggressive. Regardless of the time frame players would adjust to the rules. If a guy is a great player he would kill regardless when the game is played.
One of the most underrated players of all time.
Especially on 2k lol.
Marin Bandalo He always fucked up by 2k
Underrated but always appreciated

Alonzo might be the only player like this, he played with passion, integrity, heart, will, and energy. Never will there be anyone like him
Remember when the players in the NBA were tough erasers and also creative finishers.

My all time favorite player. Tenacity, sacrifice and will. And the best shot blocker under 7' of all time
Ben Wallace? Bill Russell?
DaMn sOn Mourning is a better shotblocker than Ben Wallace. He has more all time blocks, averages more blocks per game and won Defensive player of the Year averaging close to 4 where as Ben averaged only about 2.5 when he won it.
@@atlaslion5128 But I think Wallace was comparitively better cause he's only 6'7. People think he's 6'9 but that's his afro.
DaMn sOn Yea for his size he was very good.

Awesome work, as always! Big hello from Russia
Heat legend
I love to see how he blocks Jordan again and again and again.
Don't worry Jordan gets a couple dunks on top of Mourning aswell
Jake Ruka
Jordan needed his own 'Mourning' to get those titles as in Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman.
Yeah, they got each other on a bunch times... good old times!
Yeah he blocks Jordan, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill and Pippen
Eduardo Baca they went back and forth as I see two of the best at what they did
He is a real man
A fantástica NBA e o fabuloso Alonzo Mourning. Espetáculo, show!
Love ur vids man!!!!!!
The man!
Legend. Heart and muscle.♥💪 My all time favourite player.
The Minister of Defense, Go time was a perfect song for Big Zo
From 1998 - 2000 Zo was:
1× All Star (no all star game in 1999)
2× MVP Candidate Finalist
1× All NBA 1st Team
1x All NBA 2nd Team
2x All NBA Defensive First Team
2000 Olympic Gold Medalist
2000 USA Basketball Player of the Year
2x League leader in blocks
2x Defensive Player of the Year

An ansolute intimidator on both ends. And a warrior…well deserved champion.
Amazing!!!
One of the most clutch center of all time
centers area, my best one back then !

This man is a Challenger cause he challenged all nba greats to dunk on him
The sacrifice That Mourning did is inspiration to me and for everyone else.
Mourning Jordan 😀. A few names I stopped seeing in NBA.

Missed those days
Bring back the east coast basketball of Oakman against Zo in the post. These days you get a flagrant 1 for fighting for post footing for christ sake.

In my option Mourning's defense at the rim was one of the reason's for that 1st championship.
When he was healed.he could beat any center.even shaq have big problems with him.

Yes youre new 2 Basketball and know shit about it. Old school players would be out after the 1st quater, because of techtical fouls.
