What a tune. I always avoid learning Radiohead songs because I expect them to be in odd tunings but drop d is very doable! Thanks a lot for this, tonight has been time well spent.
You're welcome :)
Yeah they often sound like they'd be way out there but a lot of their tunes are simple enough in terms of tuning and often deceptively straightforward when broken down.
One of my all-time faves!
I have stolen so many guitar voicings from this song.
Jonny playing 10th melodically intervals, is genius. I wish I could play it as fast as him
Yeah it's so inventive isn't it. Another great radiohead tune!
Glad to see your still doing Radiohead tutorials, your the best at them, thanks bro!
Yep, back on the horse! Thanks so much Dan :)
Thanks much! Love playing this. I had one part wrong and you schooled me. Radiohead is often way easier than you thought chord wise and has beautiful dissonance built in
One of my Radiohead faves. Always imagined myself playing this one, but figured it would be too difficult...but maybe not! Thanks for the great breakdown! Subscribed.
Thank you so much for this! One of my favorite Radiohead songs
You're welcome! It's a great tune! :)
Such a good video with few views. Got it on my recommendations, I hope it will blow up soon! Keep up the great work:)
Thank you so much Ediz! Really appreciate the kind words :)
Holyshit thanks so much for this! Hope to see more Radiohead from you :)
You're welcome! Got a few Radiohead tutorials up already but will do more soon :)
Always wanted to learn this track! I was surprised at how difficult the 1A and 1B were, never done hybrid picking before. Managed to figure it out though, thanks for making this! Couldn't have learnt the song without it.
Happy to help :)
hi thank u!! saw this jn my recommended and decided to pick up the guitar :) i luv radiohead
Glad i could help get you back on the horse :)
Absolute legend
Thank you! :)
Awesome, thanks mate! I'm not sure but I think in Section 2 the 9-11 would sound better or more correctly as 10-11, although I might be wrong.
You're welcome! Just had a listen back and pretty sure it's 9-11 in that section instead of 10-11, but just trust your ears and play what sounds best to you :)
Hi Dave. Great video! Do you (Anyone) have guitar picking exercises to execute this song better? It’s hard for me to play it at the song’s tempo and when I skip a string in the arpeggio sometimes my pick get’s stuck. Thank you
During section 2, are you alternating the whole time between thumb and middle finger? I'm having a hell of time getting that part down.
Yeah I've got my thumb on the 5th string and middle finger on the second string and kind of fluttering between the two. I found that part really tricky too, feels quite unnatural picking like that
on my accoust tic w the b section first part 2 theat string 3 is sting 4 and its not in tune w the song help bro
I'm very late here but just curios what kind of pick are you using here?
The pick I'm using in this clip is a 3.0mm Dunlop Stubby pick 👍I used to use pretty thick picks because when i played in a band i was a bit paranoid about dropping them onstage haha. I generally use something around .63mm now - better balance for strumming and single notes i find
Got it, thanks for the reply :)
nice
Cheers :)
This is how a tutorial should be. So Section 3 is actually section 2, but with full chords? Cheers
Thank you! Yep that's right, same chords but strummed instead of finger picked :)
great tutorial as always!
but just a little feedback if you don’t mind, can you make your voice audio more louder? I think it’s kinda low for me I’m using a phone btw
Are you such a dreamer
To put the world to rights?
I'll stay home forever
Where two and two always makes up five
I'll lay down the tracks
Sandbag and hide
January has April's showers
And two and two always makes up five
It's the devil's way now
There is no way out
You can scream and you can shout
It is too late now
Because you have not been
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
You have not been paying attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
You have not been paying attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
You have not been paying attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention
Payin' attention oohh
I try to sing along
But the music's all wrong
'Cause I'm not
'Cause I'm not
I swat 'em like flies
But like flies the buggers
Keep coming back
And not
But I'm not
All hail to the thief
All hail to the thief
But I'm not
But I'm not
But I'm not
But I'm not
Don't question my authority or put me in a box
'Cause I'm not
'Cause I'm not
Oh go and tell the king
That the sky is falling in
But it's not
But it's not
But it's not
Maybe not
Maybe not
Oh man, I wish the songs you pick all follow standard tuning :(
Great lessons btw!
Glad you like the lesson :)
For this one you only need to retune one string (the low E down to D which you can tune off your natural D string), the rest is standard tuning, so you can get there if you want :) good luck!
@@davedoingguitar the tuning isn't a problem usually. But I have a strat with a floating trem so you can imagine how difficult it is to do alternate tunings. I guess I can still try this on my acoustic. Amazing tutorial tho, glad I found your channel.
