    Dear Olga, you and your garden are such an inspiration! You inspired me to buy my very first roses (lady of Shalott). I hope they grow as beautiful as yours do! Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. Lots of greetings from Germany! ❤🌹

      Thank you, my family is all right. They are trying hard to restart normal life in Western Ukraine. My sister in back teaching at the University, my brother in law was working all this time without interruptions. Just air sirens, which is a norm there right now. So, my sister teaches and they all have to go into bomb shelter in the middle of classes if air warning is there… It is like different reality…

    An other great video and I have an other question :D - I have heard other rosarians say to not put mulch too close to the base of the rose around the canes. I don't know the reason for this, perhaps to prevent rot? Do you worry about keeping mulch away from the base of the canes? I can't wait to see the rambler take off. I love ramblers (when they are well kept). Thanks Olga!

      You know, I used to be so particular about mulch, since mulching tradition was new to me when I came to US from Ukraine. It can be my climate, but mulch doesn't bother stems of my plants. I try to do space around, but rain and water just push it back in. So, bottom line, I am relaxed about mulch. It can be not true to your garden though. You just have to see.

      @@OlgaCarmody that makes sense. We do get a lot of rain here. One of the rainiest cities here in Canada so I think I will try to leave room. I worry about rot. Thanks Olga!

    I wanted to ask I Fed my 🌹 roses already is it necessary to fertilize them using the brown bag that u showed I believe it was Espuma??

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  Před 2 lety +1

      This is first fertilization for spring, then after blooms will be the second one. First fertilization is in April for folks in zone 6/7. There is video I did, basically retelling David Austin guidelines on what to do with roses, what time in different time zones. I should mention it again in my future videos…So, if you fertilized already at the beginning of April, you are fine for one.
