    One thing that isn't being talked about yet is that beginning this year, the sponsorship logos are not uniform. It used to be a team might have secondary logo on one sleeve, and starting last year, they added the sponsor logos (Chevrolet in the Soler photo in this video, or Marathon on the Guardians uniforms, etc.) to the other. But now the sponsorship logo will be prevalent to the "forward facing arm" of the player (i.e. LHP will have it on his right sleeve, a RH batter on his left sleeve) so as to maximize the exposure of the sponsorship logo when on shown on TV. This just defeats the purpose of uniformity to me, and makes the uniforms look even more tacky than they already are with having the sponsorship logos on them.

    The Cardinals and Phillies no longer having chain-stitched wordmarks on their chests, the patches being smaller and lacking embroidery, even the names on the back of jerseys being smaller are all indicative of cost-cutting.
    By removing steps and streamlining, standardizing and simplifying the manufacturing process, this saves Fanatics money, thereby, along with the price increase, making them even more money.

    I love the USA made Majestics, made in PA. Make, quality, colors, attention to detail, the patches had depth, creativity, well made, durable, i could go on. I'm a lifetime Cubs fan, saw first game in 1989. A jersey to most, are a after thought or nothing to get excited about. I see them, caps, gear, as a badge of honor. A real fan isn't determined by the jersey he wears, but I like to represent my city/team when I travel or move about the city. I will be 100 & still wear my Cubs/Hawks gear. That being said, the Cubs home jersey, is a simple but classy look, that Fanatics has made look like garbage. I saw what they did to the other teams, while i don't like the Cards, I feel for them if Fanatics doesn't chain stich the front logo on their jerseys. This has me worried for the Blackhawks sweaters, when Fanatics makes the NHL jerseys next season. Its a monopoly. I dont like that I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS THAN FANATICS! Not cool. I strongly believe that the most important voice will be the consumer... There is a reason why Nike and Fanatics are paying MLB for the rights to produce their uniforms, they want to make the money from consumer sales. Who are the ones that are going to spend or not spend their hard earned money, the fans! The players can complain but they are getting paid to wear a uniform, their biggest gripe will be not being able to customize the fit but at the end of the day, they will play in what they are provided. The fans who have to dish out $400 for an "Authentic" piece of apparel are the ones these corporations are targeting so if you don't like and do not feel these are worth the $400 of your hard earned cash, don't spend your money on them and watch Nike and Fanatics do a 180!

    Why, if Fanatics wanted to cut down on the amount of different fabrics and instead make the shirt one uniform breathable fabric, did they feel the need to adjust the numbers, letters, logo, and patches? Sure, it still might have felt like a pajama top and the piping may have looked and felt cheaper and strange, but they may not have gotten so much negative attention. One key detail continues to expose Nike’s lies about about making things like the patches have less detail for them to be lighter. Nike changed the MLB logo on the back of the jerseys from the previously used semi-reflective logo to the now 100% fabric logo that nearly completely matches the version that was being used on the replica jerseys. There is absolutely no advantage weight wise to move to the fabric logo. The only reason to do this is to make the logo out of a cheaper material. Also there appears to be an over all attempt to make the authentic jerseys look more like the replica jerseys and push more fans to those, which have gone up in price but also gotten cheaper.

They were designed for durability more than anything. I would have preferred a lighter jersey back then. The pants were good, durable and cleaned easy.

    What about an issue with Ai, and that there is something about the material and style of the uniforms that allows the players action and body movement and body parts to be more easily read by a camera lens. If that is true, that would be abusing the player, and actually aren’t they really? If these were female players they would be having a fit. There is no reason for them to be cheap. I has to be easier to pick up the stats and use the players likeness for other entertainment purposes, they are not sharing with the players.

  • @ashharris7293
    @ashharris7293 Před 3 měsíci

    Bottom line is the new jerseys are extremely cheaply made. The lighter and more breathable is just branding. They are made out of thin poly. If I understand other things I've read there are only 4 select sizes. The older jerseys did have a very complex manufacturing process and embroidery. With these, everything is just digitally printed on the fabric, that is why it has no texture, its printed from a digital render not embroidered and why everything looks a little off. It is just like the Halloween costumes you may see on your Facebook feed or anything on ali express drop shipped from China. They are the cheapest of the cheap manufacturing process. Again, they are literally the same stuff you can order from Ali express for 20 bucks. No need to buy an official cause the knock off you can customize from China is the exact same thing! It'll cost 120 or more less too!

  • @thomasritter1503

    Brodie, IMO the jerseys have been going in this direction for a while. My standard Phillies game jersey features stitched logo, name, and applicable patches, my "replica" jersey had a SINGLE what I'd describe as a decal of the team's name, sewn on to the front...and this was still the "Majestic" years when I got these. So I think these "steps" as you describe or phases have been in place for a while, we just haven't seen it hit the players end until this year. It's obviously a way for Fanatics to cut costs, maybe due to Covid and increases in costs and lack of supply chains? It seems to hit every industry and textile manufacturing isn't immune. Spring Training is more of a "casual" experience anyway, but if these should move North with teams to begin the season there's going to be multiple issues, especially for teams' further north who may find heavy winds, rain, snow and other adverse conditions that always accompany the beginning of a season. Not that I have "sympathy" for Fanatics but as a business, I can't see them implementing so MANY changes THIS season,...unless they were forced to by costs, vendors or other factors such as availability. In short, it certainly increases the "value" more of my previous purchases more than any this season. I'll know by Tuesday! The ONLY jersey I got this year is Ohtani's Dodgers home Elite, with the curled font and $175 OOP.
