  • Wedding planning has been so much fun and shopping for a dress has probably been the most exciting part for me. I have been looking at different styles and trying to figure out what I want and I found this one on Goodwill online for $10.
I have 3 dresses right now that I am trying to pick between because I CAN'T DECIDE!
If you're wondering if you can thrift for a wedding dress the answer is 100% yes you can. Custom designer gowns are beautiful don't get me wrong, but having a budget is real, and being able to spend more elsewhere is great!
Let me know your thoughts on this dress! I absolutely love it and being able to find it online for $10 is incredible!!

I am watching say yes to the dress and all the waste of expensive thousands of dollars 💵 could go to a vacation back to Ireland or anything u and your husband to be, needed...both of those dresses look two to five thousand dollars and such great 😃 prices u got ...the ivory soap does work u can use it on cotton and polyester it does wonders. The second dress is stunning on you! It looks like it was made just for you. I love a ruched ivory wedding dress very similar to this, however I only have a picture. I don't have any idea the cost, or even what the back looks like. This will be amazing for your wedding day!

I was a Bridal Consultant for 12 years and also am a tailor. First, the Ivory soap does indeed work, need to rub it with a damp soft cloth. Second, you shouldn't be trying to clean it while wearing it and sitting on the floor, just trying to help. Have a wonderful wedding day! By the way, I agree the second dress is a good choice.

Please don't put Satin or silk in the bathtub. Just get it dry cleaned. It may only cost 100 to 150 to get it dry cleaned and have beading reattached. Love the 2nd one and you can get a ivory panel from a bridal shop for the back.

You can put satin and silk in the bath tub. Hand washing is the only way to clean them. I have done it many times and it doesn't hurt the fabric at all. Just be sure to line dry no dryer.

Only Jordan would sit on the floor and clean a Wedding Dress. You always make me smile 😊. I wonder if a very pale pink or blue or green insert would look good in the back. My wedding dress cost $100.00 in 1970 at a bougie dress shop. In 1998 my young grandaughter wore it as an Halloween costume. She made into a scary bride look. Guess that was my way of recycling.

The first dress was very pretty. The second dress is stunning. It was made for you. The draping over the hip is so reminiscent of the way dresses draped in the 1890s and early 1900s. It lends a touch of bygone elegance without being an antique replica. You are a wise bride to see that you can have a beautiful dress without vastly overspending. And you are helping to be a sustainable citizen! My wedding was somewhat bohemian and my husband wore a very handsome handmade vest from Nepal and I wore a white cotton sundress with red trim that I borrowed from an acquaintance. I gave the dress back and have not seen it in 47 years. I've still got the husband though so it's all good!

So glad you found a reasonably priced dress; it was gorgeous on you. PLEASE don't wait until the night before to steam it in case something goes wrong! I think getting it cleaned professionally would be good! I got my wedding dress (for my second wedding) at SEARS (?!?) on a clearance rack for $90 in '88! I suspected it might have been worn for a wedding or even a prom with underarm shields as there was only one dirt smudge on it...but the price was SO right. When my daughter got married, I found a $30 dress with jacket in a consignment store!

My daughter wore my 31 year old wedding dress for her wedding in 2019. It is your typical 1980s dress. She had it altered and revamped into her taste, corset back, narrowed sleeves. We cleaned it with oxy clean and a hose in the back yard. Then hung it in the sun, all the 31 year old stain came out. The sun bleached them all out. She looked gorgeous on her day. You don't have to spend a fortune to look great.😊

I think that you would be able to wash the 2nd one in the bath tub with a mild soap now that you have spot cleaned it. It seems to be the standard wedding fabric for wedding gowns unless it is real silk. Then I would take it to a dry cleaner. I had made my daughter's wedding gown from the standard satin wedding material. During the wedding, she had stained it with wine and the usual dirt on the hem and we knew that it would have to be cleaned. So because I had some leftover scraps, I washed the material in water to see how it would react. I didn't see any material changes to the scrap, so into the bathtub went the gown. The wine stain and the dirt came out with a light scrubbing of soap (Ivory) with a soft brush and then I just swished the gown around in the lukewarm water with Tide detergent in it. I then hung it up on a sturdy hangar ( the dresses are very heavy to begin with) in the bathtub to drip dry after I rinsed it. It came out beautifully. For those who might be wondering, the materials cost app. $300 +70 hours of sewing and beading @15.00/hr.

You will love it in your pictures 25 years from now. I would not dry clean it. Google how to clean the kind of fabric it is. I’d use a hand held steamer after it is clean. The length was perfect. I can see it with a beautiful veil. I hope we see bits of your wedding on your channel. I’m excited for you. Lots of luck getting everything. I was a wedding coordinator for 20 yrs, here are my thoughts: The 2nd dress suits you, it is gorgeous and looks expensive, up to $5000 or more? It would be very risky to attempt clean it yourself. If you wash the dress, it may change the body and finish
of the beautiful fabric, also the water may cause the beads to discolor or peel. If only the hem was washed it may leave a noticeable watermark. Find a professional dry cleaners with good reviews. Get the dress to the cleaners way before the wedding. Steam the dress a few days before the wedding and hang it in a safe place to prevent a catastrophe. Above all, on your wedding day forget about the details, be in the moment and enjoy! Congratulations ❣️

I wore a second dress to my wedding in the 80's. It had long puffed sleves and lots of bling.

Fyi i took my wedding dress to the cleaners. If you tell them its a prom dress its usually a lot cheaper than a wedding dress to get cleaned. They don't need to know who's prom dress it is.
I made my veil from an organza panel curtain and did a roll hem around the whole piece . I bought a hair comb that had rhinestones on it from Claire's accessories and stitched the gathers around the band. I had a half up half down hairstyle so it just slid into the top part and the organza just flowed down my back.
My shoes were low heel white satin bedroom shoes that were in a lingerie store display. I managed to buy them for 30.00. They matched perfectly and i had no painful feet the whole day and night.
I wore two garters one to take off and the other for my ex to keep( yup im divorced lol)
And lastly all my flowers were fake they were beautiful. My mother did all flowers for the tables ,cake( which was made as a gift by a family friend).
Pictures are the only thing i wouldnt go cheap on if i married again. I had a friend do pictures for free. They were ok but next time eloping and fantastic pictures( oh and a black dress).❤

for the under the lacing, you could just get some fabric and hand sew it in.

Good for You! A thrifted dress is YOUR DRESS! It's perfect for you. As for the back panel, yes a piece of fabric inset may work, or it may bunch up, so secure it well. I'd think about the petticoat you'll need for the skirt to take the right shape. In that case, a slip may have the right backing on it (strapless of course!). You look phenomenal. Oh, what about a glitzy belt to bring more bling, if you want more. Best wishes on your wedding! This is the first time I've seen your channel and I love weddings! Have a blessed day! 💖 ✝👰🤵✨🎁💍🎩🔔🔔🎹🎵🍰🥂PS when I tried to get my wedding dress cleaned I was told that the sparkles and sequins would melt, so if you go that route, beware!

Jordan, you are beautiful, and so is your dress! I didn't get my dress at a thrift store, but I did get it at a traditional clothing store. After some unfruitful shopping at wedding dress stores, I was walking past a clothing store that had a beautiful, off white, lacy dress in its window and went in. The dress was perfect! Total price $65 CAD. Not quite your level, but good enough for me. PS. The bridesmaids ended up wearing the same dress in colours.

The 2nd dress is stunning on you!😍 The first dress isn’t bad, just needs to be tailored to fit better. Maybe you can have the 1st dress cut short and tailored to fit you better and wear it at your rehearsal dinner or as a 2nd wedding dress to change into during your reception?😃

Looks great! Here's my two cents. I would still soak it in OxiClean in your bathtub, get it as clean as possible, hang it to dry and then take it to a professional cleaner. It's gonna be a much easier cleaning process for them so it will cost less.

So I had a similar wedding dress. It did come with a slip for under the dress. The slip was an a-line full slip. It was to help keep the dress full to show of the dress. Just a thought. 🖤

Check the fabric content, I actually put a wedding gown. I bought to cut up for a costume that had mud and grass stains on the bottom in the washing machine. The bottom was so bad I sprayed it with a bleach kitchen cleanser, I washed it on a shot wash cycle, and hung it to dry. I Want to say it came out of the washer sparkling clean, no stains, discoloration, or puckering, it was immaculate which is why it is in a garment bag in a closet just waiting for a bride.

I like the second dress best. I love the ivory/champagne color. The first dress is pretty, but it looks more like a prom dress except for being white. If it could be dyed, it would be some young girl's dream prom dress.

Sometimes you get Browning with white garments when they get wet or even off white use vinegar to keep it from doing the brown staining when it drys

I borrowed a 50's dress for my 70s wedding. It was beautiful and fit like it was custom made for me, I believe when you put it out there things come to you. Keep making lists before you go to thrift stores. I am 68 and have always felt the universe provides when you ask. Good luck in all you do. I just subscribed and will be enjoying your fun.
