- Today we are having a catch up on What’s been going on on the farm over the last week. We have been busy spreading manure, cutting hedges, ploughing and getting winter wheat crops drilled even though it’s been a constant battle with the weather. we have made some good progress. We also have a look at an arson attack on the farm where we lost a shed of hay after being maliciously sat on fire.

Excellent video as always Gerry, very sorry for the loss of your hay and your neighbours shed, very disheartening in terms of a lost product, but also very aggravating that certain individuals think it acceptable or a game to trespass on private property and will fully commit an appalling crime. Yea that’s right. Of all years and it worth 35€ a bale. It was some of the best hay we ever made. Anyhow….. it’ll come out who done it. People talk. karma is a wonderful thing

Great video Gerry, looking at field before it's ploughed wouldn't think you could do anything, looking so wet, some difference when ploughed, grand working conditions.

Yea it was only a bit sticky on top. Ploughed up lovely. really nice condition for drilling. Fire was a mess but nothing you can do.
Gerry, I’d say the green monster is alive in someone’s eyes. Good old Ireland full of begrudgers! Keep the videos coming and congrats on the new tractor and keep the machinery upgrades going!

Glad to hear the sowing is going well for you. As for the scumbags who burnt the shed of hay. Little to be doing is a mild way of putting it. They will get there own turn at some time. Like the old saying goes "what goes around comes around"

Bad huers. They have little to be at, atleast there were no livestock or machinery in the shed. 👍
A downside to not having to work hard on the drill is that it has a negative influence on the adblue system. It doesn't get warm enough to burn the exhaust clean i guess. I heard that with trucks who have to many horses for too light loads have that issue and i also heard it with tractors that can use the eco pto for their work having adblue issues. So be sure to work it from time to time.
And sorry about the fire. Always a scary thing..
We had 2500 Heston bales go up in smoke 20years ago. Was arson. Best thing to do was let it burn out completely so we didn’t have a load of compost to deal with.
Lot of bales to Lose 2500. Always some arsehole with a lighter isn’t there

We know the feeling... it happened to us years ago. The old 165 removing burning bales with flat tyres but it did it a time I will never forget cows in the next shed as well. But they found who did it ... . . Turns out they watched from a far as well. So spread that camera search out a bit to where they could possibly get a view 😉. Stay safe sir 🏴

It came to my mind seeing the 215 and the drill that a 3m furrowpress would look fierce well to complete the rig and leave a lovely seedbed. Sickening act what happened to the hay and shed. I hope karma will come back to bite them.

Bad hay….. made in poor conditions. hay that heats can go on fire on its own ….. this wasn’t that hay. I know hay. This hay was made in prime summer weather. This was ignited.

There is some scumbags around the place Gerry. Serious amounts of hay and straw in sheds around the country going up on fire. Fellas with too much time on their hands and looking for trouble. Makes my blood boil.

That's terrible news on the fire Gerry, so sorry to hear. Hope you had the hay and shed insured. I hope the perpetrator/s will be brought to justice and get their just rewards. Unfortunately a reflection on the society that we live in.

Someone will probably talk about the arson - they usually do. Find out who did it, and take matters into your own hands. The removal of a hand would make the point.

Was the hay a bit high in moisture by any chance Gerry ? I've seen 1 and heard of 2 other close to me going up from spontaneous combustion due to the hay heating up so much.
