Looks good. I was under the impression they had made the rear wall seperable to reduce the depth, but it appears not. Shame, probably all that is stopping me from getting this (I wish they had just cut off the base just where the rear wall hits the ground (edit: and never bothered with it)). The stance isn't brilliant, but not a deal breaker either
The rear wall is a separate piece, so if you really don't want to display it or can't fit it, removing it does decrease the depth by a couple of inches.
Thanks! Yeah the bodies are very similar but the skull and eye sockets aren’t there and they didn’t add the dome. These seem more insect like than the original big chap.

Its awesome as expected and completes the xenos well! Cheers again for the video! Was wondering how the blue would turn out but adding greens and so makes it blend nicely. It looks good overall with the rest of the piece. Prime do have some mindful and talented artists for sure. The back part that they shortened due to many people saying it was too deep actually looked better before it was altered. It was meant to depict the side of the corridors in the film but now those shapes can't really be seen.. I had to choose between this and the Queen. Both awesome pieces. Went with the Queen. If you look at the retails on the Prime site and then look at what it actually cost to get them to you (with Queen being available through SS and Pop), the Queen was obviously better value for your buck.. Still this is great. Who knows, maybe one day I can get one second hand. Aliens ranks very high on my list!!
Yeah the green tones it down just like the approach they went with on the sideshow bust which was overseen by the Winston artist who worked on the suits. Yeah I liked the sharp edges on the base but not the depth, adding extra nest stuff I would have preferred them to not. I’m the same, with Predator being my number 1 I had to complete the trilogy and leave the queen out, would love a queen maquette but want the character on her own not as what I’d call a diorama, maybe I can pick up a matrix studios one at some point.

Fair enough, each to their own and yeah the base is already very deep requiring plenty of space for display so people weren't necessarily wrong to complain about the depth. And that's about all they could do at that point. Still looks fine. I don't mind the Queen dio myself. I think its pretty cool and is just big enough and well done enough for everything on it to be respectably done. I think it's a great size for it, while the individual xenos I would have been happy with them in 1/4, even though they do look awesome in 1/3. My SS Queen dio needs an upgrade. The pose and face and crown on it looks great but we all know there are inaccuracies as well as less than respectable work on it in places. I think the Prime version will be a good upgrade and not only because it's bigger. There will likely be a better Queen come out one day for sure (and better than matrix). Probably one I can't afford. But even when that comes I think this Queen dio will still be a cool piece to have too if one has both. After all it's Aliens man! Bit like how the BGCA JH Pred is still good to have even if you have the 1/3. See what happens maybe you can acquire it down the road when/if there's not much else happening.

But the paint isn't really movie accurate on the head and the rest of the colours are fairly vibrant (which IMO suits the dio so things don't get washed out). But point is I know Prime can do better and more real/accurate.. You know what Im saying now hey!? This seems like BGCA all over again. Yep! Prime will very likely release a 1/4 Queen that will shit on anything else Alien so far. Like the 1/3 JH did. And their 1/4 Ripley which now seems to fit in with nothing, will scale nicely with their Queen. Being 1/4 it will be huge and likely out of my league unless I sell all other Alien pieces. But I'd say it would have your name on it. Might want to hold off on that Matrix one for now. They may reveal it as soon as they've sold enough of the dio ones. We will see!

Also you mentioned how it would be cool to have a colonist stuck/entombed in the alien's works but I think it can't possibly fit here.. I thought a while ago that that was something they missed with the Queen.. There is a great wall spot around the back of it where they totally could have done/fit that.. unfortunate. I guess they want us to buy their wall hanging Queen thing along with everything else to get that! Aahh whatever all good.
Been on the fence about getting this one. It looks great! Is this in scale with the 1/3 Big Chap? Or is this more in scale with the upcoming 1/4 Ripley? It looks bigger than 1/4 in your video, but I haven't seen any pics of it next to any of the P1 1/3 aliens. I was thinking this may be 1/4 as the "comic" piece, and had been wondering if a 1/3 "movie" version was going to come later. Anyways, great review!
I have the 1/3 Big Chap and he is perfectly in scale with him. Definitely 1/3 scale as I measured both from feet to knees, knees to hips, hips to shoulders.

I prefer the prime 1 big chap as far as design goes but I think the dog alien was perfect and I had absolutely no issues with its construction.
