  • This GPS camera quadcopter is currently the least expensive ready to fly to include FPV, follow me, and real GPS return to home/landing capability. Buy it here www.banggood.com/Hubsan-X4-H50... or here from Amazon amzn.to/2nMG6LW and also here amzn.to/2nMIWAI
    Pro's
    - Currently the lowest cost RTF GPS equipped quadcopter with follow me mode.
    - Also includes 5.8 Ghz FPV. Receiver and monitor is built into the transmitter.
    - Includes on screen display of telemetry information
    - Includes position hold, headless mode, follow me, and return to landing.
    - Will automatically fly back and land at its takeoff point upon activation of the return to home switch, or automatically if the quadcopter loses signal from the transmitter such as from flying out of range, from electrical interference, or if the transmitter is turned off (but don't deliberately turn off the transmitter to test this).
    - Includes 2MP still pictures, 720p HD video camera.
    - Small and safe quadcopter. Should be able to fly this most places without being hassled.
    - Pretty good flight time at ov er 11 minutes for the "S" version (slightly more on the "E" basic GPS version).
    - 150 grams weight. Does not require FAA registration.
    Cons
    - Although with very advanced features, the quadcopter also is equipped with brushed motors. You may need to replace a motor some day.
    - Does not come with needed microSD card or card reader to record and download camera's video.

Quadcopter 101 can you record on the remote like a dvr. ? Like can you record what you view on the screen as well as record on the drone separately ? , I seen in a video there is a micro chip on the side so is it for recording the telemetry/fpv screen

In the model that I purchased in December, 2016, there is a female JST connector located at the top of the battery bay that allows for a LiPo battery to be plugged in. The exact same LiPo battery provided when you purchase the quadcopter fits exactly into the battery bay. It is a little snug but it does fit and the battery cover can be closed. It is not mentioned in the literature provided with the copter as an alternate but I went ahead and plugged it in and gave it a try. It worked just fine. It also registered a full charge on the meter on screen. Even when fully charged, my rechargeable Energizer 2500 mAh NiMH AA batteries only registered two or three bars. The advantage here is that you can use either the LiPo battery or the four AA option and you don't have to hack up the transmitter. My battery bay is a little different than others that I have seen in that it does not have a divider between the two battery rows which allows for the LiPo battery to fit in the bay.

Hello 101, Bought my first Drone Hubsan 502E worlds cheapest drone with GPS base on your review and LOVED it! You cant go wrong with this $80 Drone. then moved on too the Blade 350 QX , QX2 and QX3 Family and frankly their not as fun as the Hubsan and the WI FI on the cameras create problems. Last night I ordered the Hubsan 502S with follow me and the built in screen. I am sure I will Love this one even more.
Cheaper can be better for the beginner Drone flyer and more convenient. I keep my Hubsan 502E in a brief case in my car and fly it on my lunch break that often draws a crowd.
I enjoy your reviews on Drones and often look for the videos With someone holding it in front of the camera!

I think the reason why the video was corrupt on the transmitter screen , was because maybe you need to program the transmitter for the right video frequency in the 5.8 GHz band. If you're one channel off, it looks corrupted. You can program that particular transmitter for different video frequencies in the 5.8 GHz band. It's programmed separately from binding it to the quadcopter flight frequency which is in the 2.4 GHz band. Maybe that might help

Ian.. I had the 501S. Mine had the advanced transmitter. Lost it several times "out of control" I'm an experienced quad pilot too. Turns out, I had several issues with the transmitter. It took both Hubsan and I to fix. I sold it a month or so ago. I own a DJI Mavic. Personally, I'd save your money for a DJI Spark if video is your primary goal.. Good Luck..

    On the note of it being safe;
This quad is equipped with an emergency shutdown feature.
If the props strike something, such as an obstacle or, well, you, and the drone can't restart them for more than a moment, it'll lock the motors and shut down on the spot.
It will also shut down if a motor does not start properly during the unlock spool-up. (Which can be a bother if you're trying to fly on a worn-out motor because your spares haven't arrived yet.)

Look like an amazing quad for the money, but I think to calibrate the compass properly you're suppose to just turn the aircraft, not spin in a big circle, that is a good why of having an accidental flyaway or failure to return to the proper Home Point if you lose connection with the controller. Also taking off before you have the correct amount of satellites will not set a proper Home Point and would defiantly cause it to Not return to home point.

Chose an object, and fly past in a straight line, but you have to keep the object on screen as you do so lol...

I purchased this one and the z201ys (for inside practice), based on your reviews and they both work well. I have one question regarding the h502s. Make sure to install the propellers on the correct motors. There are two counter clockwise shaped propellers, and two clockwise shaped propellers that must be installed on corresponding CW and CCW motors. If one is installed on a wrong turning motor the drone will not lift off. If confused, take a close look at the following picture, paying attention to the two different shapes of propellers and which motors that they're installed to. Make yours match the picture i0.wp.com/www.rcdronearena.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Hubsan-502-E_result.png

Take a very close look at the bottom of the propeller near the shaft. Notice the tiny "i" printed there. Make sure that the "i" lines up with the flat portion of the shaft. If not, the propeller will not slide down all the way on the shaft to allow you to use the screw.

Excellent review as always. New to drone flying so had no idea what to look for but features versus cost & availability of spare batteries etc looks like this will be my choice after viewing all of your reviews including the non FPV model E and this seems a good entry flyer to see if I take to the hobby without spending a fortune & then finding out its not for me!. How does this unit compare with others in terms of the noise it makes when flying? Would you say it is loud, quiet or average? I live in a small quiet village community which already has 3 flyers who use the much bigger £1000 plus models and there has already been a few not very complimentary comments from neighbours. I am hoping a smaller toy grade unit will be less noisy to fly over the local common land which means I wont be flying over other peoples property.

Hi, I think I am right in remembering you have a run cam on your hat? also how do you record sound, do you use the run cam or separate audio, because it is very good. Even sometimes when you have a breeze. I am considering getting the run cam v2?

Actually I use a Mobius camera on my cap. Have done close to 700 CZcams videos with it, and it's still going strong www.banggood.com/Mobius-Full-HD-Sports-Camera-1080P-30FPS-720P-60FPS-For-Multirotor-p-90648.html?p=RB0922217402201307U3
And I use a Runcam for much of aerial videos. It doesn't have as good a microhone as the Mobius, but its video is pretty good, and it's shielded to prevent RF interference with your quadcopter's receiver www.banggood.com/Runcam-FPV-HD-1080P-Wide-Angle-Mini-Sport-Action-Camera-for-250mm-Frame-Quadcopter-p-1017506.html?p=RB0922217402201307U3

should I buy 507A or 502S? 507 has some interest points like way-point fly and cheaper than the 502s but it looks that 507 has a short fly range due to the wifi and a shorter fly time. Is that all true?

QC101, you Definitely sold me on this. I have enough experience, and would be Very Confident to get a DJI Phantom 4. But this has Some of those cool Features, and like "Most" i can't run right out, and drop $1,400.00 (Dare to Dream) on my Dream Machine, lol ! Can you send me a Link to buy one of these ? And how much would it set me back ? I've had Alot of fun with my X5C's, both flying them, and Fixing them thanks to You. I Still have, and take Great Care of my X8C. Love the long distance, and High altitude capabilities. But I'm Definitely ready for something like this. Which of the 2 would you recommend ??? Thanks as Always for Making my day ....

Other than the GPS, Is the flying performance of H502s much better if compare with those similar size drone with 5.8ghz FPV and altitude hold such as X5G/509g/CX-32/H8D? Because the price difference is quite big

Range is about 3 times greater than all three. It also has follow me mode. But you're right, it is pricey. The following is a buch better deal IMO, but does notinclude FPV czcams.com/video/0koT2obNZrk/video.html

Hi Quadcopter. I am a beginner of playing quadcopter. I plan to bring this toy 502s out for hiking with my wife. I saw many people would lose control with their quadcopters even for professional grade like mavic and phantom3.
Do you have any advice on how to avoid losing control of quadcopters?
Also, if I want to get a FPV goggle for this 502s, which brand do u suggest?
    Thanks.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  Před 7 lety +1

Most important thing is to verify that you have sufficient satellites before taking off. I like to wait for 8 or more. Also, always hover for about ten seconds after takeoff before sending it out. You want to verify that the quadcopter is holding its position with no toilet bowl wobbling (circular movement like its being flushed down a toilet). If you notice any unsteadiness, land and redo the compass calibration. And finally, minimize flying at high speed rate. Sometimes at high rate, the quadcopter can get ahead of the GPS being able to keep up with calculating its position. This can cause toilet bowl effect also. If you notice such while flying high speed, slow down or hover to let the GPS catch up.

Broken electrical connection, somewhere between the motor and the flight control board. Likely a broken wire, or a separated solder joint. You (or someone else) is going to need to open it up and find where the broken connection is.
