So Oracle designed the boat to their specifications, had the greatest testing time and budget and still got beaten by the lowest budget team that they and the other challengers didn't want competing (think change of class design, change of consensus to majority rule and attempt to change minimum weight when ETNZ's boat was 100kg lighter despite using same boat molds as Oracle). That is the biggest upset ever. Period.
Yeah,to see the Americans name drop all these huge names in their production team, only to lose to our Emirates team, the lowest funded team in the cup,too funny.
Here's several things for building boats: Allow plenty time. take advantage of ready made boat blueprints. (I discovered about these and more from Denelle boat builder website )
Oracle and Team New Zealand built their boats in New Zealand. I think Team Japan being an offshoot of Oracle also had their boat built here. I'm not sure where the other teams built theirs.
American's can build 2 boats. Challengers only one each. Americans imposing $3 million handicap on entrants/challengers each a.k.a entry fees. Americans changing rules, design parameters etc. Sounds fair. What a joke. The boats look ridiculous too. J Class or 12 metre formula please and you might get some interest. Aussie skipper of the USA boat is also kind of grating (and I'm Australian).
This is so cool - how the catalysis of human intellect and energy can make things go fast and efficiently

with all those rules, more financial power than any other team and still can't win. Karma
Wind powered...not human powered.
All of that and at the end it wasn't the perfect boat...
