Hello Yogi! Apologies for bothering you with another (long) comment, but education is my field of work. There are two concepts and a few things that I would like to clarify: - Ciclo (cycle of studies). Basic education has 3 cycles: the first (Primeiro ciclo) lasts 4 years and corresponds to your Primary education; the second (Segundo ciclo) lasts two years (5th and 6th grade); and the third cycle (Terceiro ciclo) lasts three years - from the 7th to the 9th grade - and it corresponds to your lower secondary education. Afterwards we have Ensino Secundário, that corresponds to your upper secondary education. - Agrupamento (de escolas). It is a school cluster: usually the headquarters is located at the Secondary school, where you can find the school director and the management team, as well as the administration office (Secretaria). However, the Primary school (Escola Básica do 1.º ciclo or EB1) is also part of the school cluster and one of the teachers is the school coordinator, who has a middle managemet role. Schools started to be organised in clusters in the late 90s, for pedagogical and (mostly) efficiency reasons. - Parents evenings: I am surprised you said that you do not have them here. Maybe not in the evening, but all public schools organise meetings between the Primary class teachers and parents, at least twice a year. - Soup and dessert: the canteen staff will try to persuade the children to eat soup, but they cannot punish them if they do not eat. They always have to provide the main course, as they are paid full meals by the Ministry of Education. The same way, meals include dessert, which is mostly fruit (usually two different types), though yoghurt may also be an option. Sweets are never served in the canteens (healthy food policy), although children bring them from home very often
Are "school bus" not available? In the U.S. if a child is a certain distance from the school, a school bus will be offered. Depending on the services of the School District, the child could be picked up in front of the home or a nearby designated area for all the local children. If a school bus is not an option, are the public buses offered and in partnership for children's transport? In our local district, children can get a free bus pass for public buses.
@@shannahlulay8364 Children and youngsters who attend compulsory education may request a free pass for public transport within the town where the school is located. Where the public transport is unable to respond to the needs (i.e. rural areas), the municipalities are responsible to ensure that service, either by using their own buses or by hiring shuttles (or even taxis) that will pick up the pupils. Private schools also have their own school buses, but parents have to pay an extra fee.
Ás an author of children's bilingual books I often do sessions in Primary Schools. I find the standards in both public and private schools to be very good and I feel the relationship between teachers and children is very warm and like a family.
Best case senecio an Adult can qualify to apply after 5 years after SEF appointment. This takes on average 2 years to obtain citizenship. Once the adult receives citizenship, only then can the child dependent can apply. Again requiring an additional 2 years from that point.
Are there discounts for families with multiple children enrolled? I see school meals and after school care adding up very quickly. I did hear and understand they could bring their own. I'm just curious as to the paying/buying in bulk mindset.
I have 2 question: 1. Is the class in public school are teach in Portugueese? How are the kids adjusting? 2. Is there a free school for kids with Autism? I will appreciate anyone who will reply 🙏
Hi, yes the classes are taught in Portuguese. The kids adjusted really well. It took some time, they didn’t know Any Portuguese but can now speak it and are fine. I don’t know about a free school for kids with autism sorry.
Hi, the teachers we have had do not speak English, my daughter gets lessons from an English teacher once a week but my sons do not. It’s something I have continued to chase up. Even though the teachers don’t speak English my children were ok and picked up everything
@@Revhappy829 it is all taught in Portuguese and at the beginning it is very hard for the kids to understand and grasp (my children started not knowing the language) but after 8 months they were speaking and understanding the language and have done amazingly. The kids adapt and will learn
Hi, I’m not sure with high school, I’d imagine you can, but not sure and not sure about entrance exams. My children started mid way through a school year and that was fine but this was for primary school.

What if the child doesn't even knows the English and his age is 3.5, so how he will gonna adjust in the school ? Secondly how's the teachers behavior with kids who doesn't understand their language and don't response much? My kid is super shy and he don't get into the people easily.

There are international private schools they are around 10k a year for my 11 year old but preschoolers are around 4000😅
