Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand congratulations you will have a big emotions for years in skiing! nice job
Her balance, timing, line. She really worked to carve a high line before the last 4 gates to assure herself she'd have the speed on the flats. Solid steel mind she has.
Look at her. Long skis. Sharp edges. Super strong legs. Gutsy killer instinct. She was going into tucks when her arms were being blown off by gates. She's not afraid to take the hits. Pure competitive spirit. Watch out for her.
yes she do it in this season!! I saw she last year and i said she will be big. And now first she finish 17th at World Championships, then she knockout the rivals by 1,50 s in Val di Fassa then 16th place in World Cup and now 2ND PLACE AT THE PODIUM AT THE FINAL WITH THE BEST SKIERS AROUND!
What an absolute legend
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I thought I said congrats to Alice, doesn't seem to of been posted.
So congratulations to Alice Robinson, I look forward to following your star rising.
I think that there is probably general agreement that Alice Robinson today performed one of the most impressive feats of the ski year: which ended with a podium position between the world GS champion and the world cup GS champion. Not bad for a few days away from school.
Great ...
A completely shocking run. Her very first World Cup race and she wins 2nd. Unheard of. And she's from New Zealand, not Austria or Germany, and on top of that only 17.
This girl rips GS! Go Alice!
Why does she remind me of the great Soffia Goggia? Power skiing. Kia ora Alice Robinson!
Charles W Hopefully she becomes more successful than her.
can't believe that she is only 17 years old 😂
weird thing is she goes to my school
ChopSticks GC ya shure
UNB-matteo22 eid She goes to WHS I’m Queenstown, New Zealand and is a year 13 (her last year in HS) I’m only a freshman. There was an assembly about her one day so yeah. Don’t care if you believe me tho up you you.
The next Lindsey Vonn, hopefully. Shiffrin is winning a lot lately, but she has no superstar quality. She didn't make alpine skiing more popular like Lindsey did, and she is not a regular 5-event skier like Lindsey during her prime, focussing instead on events she can win. I hope more youngsters will cut short Shiffrin streak at the top sooner than necessary.
That's a bit harsh, she only turned 24 on Wednesday when she won the Super G globe.
Mikaela will be much more in the spotlight now that Lady Lindsey has retired.
Inspired skiing. Kiwi Strong.
Hey Briang- Take the time to compare Mikaela to Lindsey at this point in Lindsey's career and you will laugh at your grossly uninformed post as it speaks to a lack of knowledge that is embarrassing. I'll keep it simple since you know so little about ski racing, Mikalea's victory total is at least 20 ahead of Lindsey's at the same point in their respective careers. As for star power, Mikaela's endorsement income will outstrip Lindsey's due to a few factors- Mikaela is more well spoken, is more naturally photogenic and is more pleasurable to be around in public and private settings. Not a knock on Lindsey just simple facts.
"focusing on events she can win" -- meaning SL, PSL, GS, Super G --some downhill, some Alpine Combined . First person EVER to win SL and Super G globes same year. Better year than Vonn or anyone else has ever had. Inspires thousands of young skiers and has a fanatical following. This "streak at the top" has gone on for 8 years or so ----probably even longer than your streak in being insanely wrong.
What the hell? Maybe you should stick to commenting on sports that you know something about. Michaela won in every discipline this season and entered several downhills... so not sure where you get off saying that she's not a regular 5-event skier. Perhaps Michaela is a bit more shrewd than Lindsey from the perspective that she is pacing her career. Lindsey is a legend, but took too many risks in my opinion and often paid dearly for it throughout her career. Michaela has had only one relatively minor injury and that was while free skiing.
