5:26 - Return to Hornsent Grandam and speak to her with the dancing lion head

6:00 - return and speak with Freyja, and hornsent
6:22 - start and finish castle ensis and make sure to summon needle knight leda
6:38 - At cross sight of grace speak to Leda and hornsent and get may the best win gesture
7:00 - Head to the church of the crusade, and fight Fire Knight Queelign
7:35 - Head to the moorth ruins and fight with Dryleaf Dane
8:12 - Head to shadow keep and a message will appear saying somewhere a ruin has broken
8:45 - Return and speak with ansbach until he disappears, freyja, and then hornsent
9:01 - Speak to leda and she will ask you to choose thiollier or hornsent
9:16 - Go and speak to moore and he asks must we be sad forever?
9:43 - Assist Leda or Hornsent summoning signs
12:00 - Do the freyja and sir ansbach set of quests in shadows keep
14:13 - defeat messmer, ensure to summon hornsent while inside of the boss arena
15:06 - return to needle knight leda and speak with her
15:22 - return to the church of crusade to find Moore's body

Ps. I started new game plus to replay the dlc and its actually much easier the second time as you keep all your Scadutree fragments even Messmer is super easy do beat.
If you start another new game do you have to play the base version again up to the point where you can get into the DLC?
yes you do but if your a high enough level it shouldn't take more than 4 hours to reach the dlc. Defeat Margit, Godrick, do academy of raya lucaria and beat Rennala, start and complete carian manor to reach rannis rise. Do varres quest including 5 invasions to get the Lord of Blood’s Favor. Start rannis quest to beat rahdahn and then teleport to mohg and beat him. It took me 4 hours.
@@xLunarGaming For me first I got the dectus medallion then used it at the lift. After you reach the Altus plateau and discover the first site of grace, the radahn festival triggers and you can fight him. After fighting him I did varres quest to get to mohg, killed mohg then accessed the dlc. Way easier and takes less time🤗
@@xLunarGaming The route I took was under 2 hours for me. I killed godrick and radahn then did the invader questline which only required me to win three invasions and then I teleported to mohg and made it back into the dlc.

I wish people said that crossing the bridge towards the Ymir church also triggers the NPC quests, not just approaching Shadow Keep. Saw almost a dozen people say "don't come near Shadow Keep until you do npc quests." But not one said anything about the other way, even in their Ymir guides. Because of that i missed out on 3 visages from Hornsent.
Is it the bridge with the ballista at the begining?

@@lovie74 no, not that one. It's the double bridge after Bonny Village that leads you to the church where Ymir is. You can enter the Shadow keep from there also but it's quite a ways from where the notification pops up.

You are missing the entire Thollier quest, if you suggest his for betrayal first, Leda dismissed him, then if you go speak to him he says he's moving south to the coast where the purple lilies are, the rest of hist quest continues there and must be completed before Enir-Illim

Good thing I just saw this right after killing mesmer. I figured I finished thoillers quest after the black syrup/concoction bit. He still has the dialogue for me
@@7zen no, i was worried too at first, but the quest continues as normal and he says he's moving south if you talk to him after speaking with leda (after defeating mesmer)

I don’t think he got all the options fully right though. You also apparently for example get the bow for helping Ansbauch. Unless that’s wrong but a lot of guides I’m seeing online say that’s the case. Either way it seems very confusing maybe some info is from the pre release patch.
There also is a talisman you get apparently for helping Leda defeat hornsent so it’s not as pointless to do that if you’re aiming to get loot. Sounds like either way we have another situation where it takes multiple playthroughs to collect all items.
@@mattswank He mentions this in the next video I think when he actually does the Ansbach questline. You can't get everything on a single run anyway so its par for the course.
@@rossjamestobitt yeah thanks I just saw that! Was just something I wanted to note for the people who only saw this one. I’m okay with two playthroughs to get all items but I think this one requires 3 if you want both of the talismans Leda drops and the AoW from hornsent. Since the second invasion won’t happen if you kill Leda first.
my 1st run through this DLC ended with me fighting all NPC at the same time... only one by my side. I got every armor except the one who was fighting from my side, that also helped me out in the last boss fight... that's the hardest boss fight ever... still need to learn he's moves. But this fight with all NPCs was epic!
Same only npc amour I missed out on was the guy with the white mask who served with saint trinna
Good tip for the last boss is you just have to play the second phase just like the first and always roll into the left of him. Good luck.

Same asf, I only had thioller to help me against radahn, so I literally just fought radahn no summons expect my mimic in his second phase
so what i got from this video is that, you need to get the crosses and if you don't, your save file will get deleted.

This is exactly the video I wanted, tho I wish it had come out sooner because I am sure I messed up already somehow
i just finiched the dlc im on new g+ and i already went back to the dlc ng+ tips : start main game start varee quest go quick defeat godrick then go to altus plateau to trigger radhan festival via the shortcut defeat the magma continue varee quest till you get the item to teleport to mohg go to caelid defeat radhan then teleport to mohg defeat him and back to dlc it tooks me 1 hour and half for all that
Doesn’t take long at all I had finished last September and started NG+ but never even started past the first section and the first grace. So I was surprised I had to do those two bosses again. Haha. And there’s even an item you have to get later in game for the dlc so idk why you didn’t bring that up either.

Concerning Hornsent grandam you don’t have to beat messmer to get more stew. Return to her anytime after you use your stew. You can only hold one at a time.
Does killing the divine beast lion mess up the quest? I killed him already and everything has worked besides grandam. All she does is go ahhhh…. Ahhh….. and that’s it
@@user-vh3xg4tj7b you have to kill the beast before she’ll give the stew. Try wearing the divine beast head and talking to her. Exhaust her dialogue and then visit a grace. Come back without the mask and she should give you the scorpion stew.
Although idk if it’s important on whether or not to visit her first before killing the divine beast lion. I visited her first before killing the boss and the interaction works for me.

Good someone mentioned this bc I was going to say. She will keep giving you stews as long as you don't have one on inventory.
10:19 You miss out on the Lacerating Crossed-Tree talisman if you don't assist Leda here. 15% more damage on running attacks is amazing for some builds. Missed this on my first playthrough.
As if Spear- wielding running-attack-spamming invaders needed the extra damage 😅

The one thing I hated about the main game was the NPC quests that were SO EASY to break!
In NG+ I wanted the gold mask ending, even followed a guide, and still somehow messed it up and got no rune from his body…
This DLC has the same issue but it’s so much worse, I’m so annoyed right now...
The difficulty is fine, boss design is fine, quests themselves are fine… but if I miss out on one more cool item because of missed quests, skipped steps, or because I walked through the wrong door at the wrong time, I’m going to snap.
I want to explore naturally and take my time, but I can’t even do that without worrying I’m going to miss out on a lot of hidden gear that I def would want.
Why? Just… why??
Because they want you to play it again. It's forced replay value, even when it's not needed. I hate it too. I broke a certain something by exploring and messed up a bunch of questlines too. Makes me wanna reset honestly...
I definitely understand where your coming from but at the same time I kind of enjoy it this way because it adds a lot more depth and replayability to it. My first blind playthrough I barely did any quests but after finding out there's hidden items, areas, and quests just makes me want to play again and find more.
because from soft fundamentally doesn't care if you find "everything".
has it occured to you that this is by design, just how by design you have to replay the game several times to unlock gear, weapons, ashes of war and so on.

I think did all of that exept summon hornset in the messmer fight. He then wines about that you didnt summon him and he will be summoned in the little battle at the end. i also think moore is not dead but will be summon against you in the fight before the endboss.

guys if you help hornsent on the bridge against leda the fight between her and ansbach will be skipped you will not find summun sign and you will not find leda she will only leave a letter for you called message from leda
after helping hornsent vs leda (1st summon sign), can you summon ansbach at the final boss since the 2nd encouter of leda vs ansbach was skipped?
I want the ash of war swiftslash if possible and ansbach help me during the final boss...

You need two play throughs to get everything really, so for any completionist changes, I suggest you alli with Leda for her entire quest, getting both of her rewards. Sacrifice Hornber-er-whatever. Side with him in the next.
There is at least one more choice like that coming up where you interact with the dragon communion stuff. Be ready for that one in round 2. It would be easy to forget a step of another quest necessary for that one.
Something rather interesting, Hornsent was there for me at the start with Freyja but at some point he disappeared. It happened either after talking to Thiolier,, Ansbach and Moore, after giving Thiolier his syrup or when I reached Scadu Altus via the spring (didn’t progress, just activated the grace and bailed). Don’t know if he was supposed to leave though.

If you missed Hornsent Grandam you can still talk to her if you put on the Divine Beast's head and talk to her, she'll give you an incantation and offers her son to help you take down Mesmer!
So by following this guide and the expected other parts the DLC can be completed without missing any quest?
The finger reader lady in belurat will give you items later on too!
Ofc I accidentally misheard the guide and thought helping leda kill hornset would give me the zoro ash of war… now I have to start another ng+ 😂

Thanks for this video, massive work by you. Do I always need to summon NPCs in boss fights in order to proceed their quests? I've already fought the Dancing Lion without summoning Freyja :/
Maybe I can help. I ended up defeating both the Dancing Lion and Rellana and didn’t summon anyone and both questions seem to still be working fine.
The Shadow keep thing is so dumb...I found it on accident now all my books can't be done
I also got the bow for helping Ansbach in the invasion with leda, and you also get his Ansbach's scythe after you beat the final boss if you kept him alive.
I don't think you need to keep him alive, I don't think you even need to defeat him with him summoned

I didn't summon them at all, but yet they appeared "dead" in the arena after resting.
the dlc basically ends with all the npcs dying... except a handful, based on your choices.

If we side with Leda against Hornsent do get the Falx curved swords after defeating him? Or do we need to side with him and get his invasion later in the Rauh Ancient Ruins to get his swords?
If you heal the Forager brood by the church of the crusade, you can get the 7th cookbook from Moore without having to go find all the rest.
How to heal ?
Btw something completely unmentioned is by helping Leda in both Hornsent & Ansbach invasions & returning to her, she rewards you with 2 different talismans.

Ok so love the video and its really helpful but around 10:01 it gets a bit confusing. If i help hornsent to defeat leda is she never returning to that site of grace and will it lock me out of doing her fight against ansbach or will i still be able to do it after finishing his part of his quest in shadow keep?
If you help hornsent defeat leda then you cannot do the fight against ansbach later

Thank you for doing this! Been holding off on the DLC myself until everything gets found and I was hoping for a video exactly like this! I've seen people get Ansbach's Longbow from EITHER assisting him or siding with Leda, is that supposed to happen?
Yes you do get it either way
@@xLunarGaming So correct me if I'm wrong, but these are the mutually exclusive loots for collectors like myself? Trying to find the most "optimized" path to collect everything in as few playthroughs as possible.
1. Help Hornsent over Leda, get the Ash of War: Swift Slash but lock Leda out of progressing Ansbach's quest.
2. Help Leda over Hornsent, get the Lacerating Crossed-Tree talisman and can continue Leda's quest, but lose Hornsent as a summon for Messmer.
3. Help Ansbach over Leda, summonable for the final boss and get the Obsidian Lamina and Furious Blade of Ansbach incant.
4. Help Leda over Ansbach, get the Retaliatory Crossed-Tree talisman but lose Ansbach as a summon.
Great so seems no matter what I do you need at least 3 playthroughs to get everything.....
10:20 if you decide to ignore it, 2 outcomes happen.
1: needle knight leda quest continues
2: you can have hornset help you in messmer boss fight. Once thats done, go to a grace called “Church of the Bud, Main Entrance” and you want to head North into the scarlet rot area and once you find stairs leading down, hornset should invade you (for some odd reason) and you get his sword and clothing
Yea I had that happen to me the only thing I didn’t do was talk to her with beast helm before fighting Mesmer but I still summoned him in fight but after that he invaded me and I killed him, now she doesn’t talk to me and I missed out on that one

For people who killed messmer before doing freyja and ansbach quest like me i did all the step of their quest till shadow keep and instead of watching the rest of the video i killed messmer before doing their quest in shadowkeep but i was still able to do them
Awsome guide, just a small critique, you could probably have saved the go talk to Leda and she'll go after Ansback mention for after killing Mesmer step. It just made the step a little confusing, thought Ansback summon appeared at same time as Hornset.

A quick note. When collecting all the Forager Brood Cookbook’s:
You need only collect Cookbooks 1-5 in order for Moore to give you the 7th.
As far as I’m aware, the 6th Cookbook can only be obtained after Shadow Keep or by traveling beyond Bonny Village.
Will you be making part 2 today ?
If you do select Remain sad forever or Dealt with Moore via attacking his brood you miss out on alot of cookbooks for elemental pickles so tread carefully
So should I do Ymir’s quest after fighting Mesmer or should I do it before fighting him?
I would say before. I just completed that quest and I haven’t beat messmer at scadu level 12 and all bosses associated with it were all pretty squishy

I thought the quest line for Freya was going to be broken because I picked up the scroll first but I just restarted the game and it worked.
I marvel at the great job you've done! Wish I'd followed this from the beginning. A lot of my questlines have already been broken. I don't know how you could make just a clear and concise explanation of all the quests! remarkable and I know it must've have taken so much time.
Any tips for messing up and giving the scroll early before talking to freyja
I wish there had been some sort of warning or barrier about approaching shadow keep. I didn't even do Castle Ensis and had been exploring and go to Shadow Keep before even beating Lion or Rellana. No summon signs were available for either of those fights so hopefully the quests aren't totally messed up? They're still doing what they're supposed to according to guides but who knows with these games.
If I chose to invade Leda at the black keep to obtain the swift slash ash of war, does this ruin other questlines or just Leda’s as I miss out on her talismans?

So wait do you HAVE to actually summon these NPCs for the bosses because I didn't summon Redmane for the fight cause I wasn't wanting to make the atrocity that is the Lion Dancer even more annoying with a tankier hp bar.
killing hornsent for ledas quest drops his weapon as well, which is very good
you can still get it later without killing him during leda quest
Are all the cook books allocated outside shadow keep?
It's a good idea to find all the crosses since you get ur fragments from them
When you say “be sure to summon Freya/Leda etc. for this xxx boss”, is this step required for their quest lines?
I hope not because it's so easy to miss a little symbol in the corner
I got all the way to asbach and Freya accidently but didn't do the back and forth for them
Do you still get the Swift Slash Ash of War if you skip the Leda and Hornsent fight? I thought you had to side with him to get it.

Need some help. I by miatake triggered the "a rune has been broken" way too early, and now half of the npc's have disappeared from their first locations after i speak to them once (for example the two dudes near the stairs are gone, cant get the pot). Do they reapear somewhere? Can i still do their quests, or have I ruined the dlc for myself?
No i think u just skip absolutely everything before rune break

8:13 Do forager broods stop giving you their items after breaking Miquella's charm? This step was glossed over very quickly. I don't think you can even deliver any forager brood items to Moore, so whether or not he remains accessible on the map shouldn't matter?

Do we really need to summon Needle Knight Leda in the boss fight ? I love too much to just solo bosses and i was wondering if not summoning her would change anything for the quest

I got Ledas rune and ansbachs bow for helping him defeat leda
I believe you can complete Moore's questline peacefully, if you say "I don't know" instead of the other two options, then give him all the cookbooks. He'll stay alive and in his normal spot, even after the final boss. After you fight Miquella's followers and the final boss, he'll still be there, mentioning that he's sad that Miquella's followers don't visit him any more, but he's happy that you do, and thanks you for being his friend.
I tried saying that once, but instead when I talked to him again, I got prompted again to choose.
I think the "I don't know" is basically the "I don't want to decide yet"-option.
