Seems like Malenia and Maliketh still hold up even against a DLC boss. That said, you really notice the damage-per-hit difference with Rellana compared to them.
They always win because of their HP-related mechanics, Malenia recovers a lot of HP per hit and Maliketh's destined death reduces the HP bar absurdly.
In return, he has a low Hp and poise. Even in this video, if he had a little bit of bad luck, he would have been defeated.
They hold up because of Gimmicks, Hp reduction and health absorption
Both Malenia and Maliketh have percentage based attacks, especially Scarlet Rot, it's certain death. But you can see the scaling is in favor of these new bosses now.

Rellana dodging Rennala's spells is the epitome of "Too slow, sister."
EDIT: The first phase of the Malenia fight has so many incredible exchanges, but the sequence from 26:23 to 26:30 was especially majestic. Malenia falls for the feint and tries to preemptively dodge under the sword, but gets slashed from the other direction instead. Rellana tries to follow up but misses, leaving her back open to the first two hits of Malenia's combo. However, before she can land her strongest third hit, Rellana does to Malenia what Malenia did to her moments before, counterattacking with her two fastest stabs, staggering and interrupting Malenia's attack with the third slash, and finally landing the strongest fourth hit of her combo on the vulnerable Malenia.
I would extend that sequence from 26:23 to 26:40 because after Malenia gets staggered, she gets up and immediately does Waterfowl Dance and even though Rellana trades blows with her she ends up getting stance broken as well. The whole sequence is very back and forth, perfect dodges, interrupted combos and both warriors get their stance broken.

Levels of DLC enemies are abnormaly high, they do so much dmg and malenia can't even scratch Rellana in 1st phase. HECK, even death was unusually slow.
SOTE is phoenomal content-wise, but an unbalanced mess overall in terms of difficulty. I just defeated her and oh boy, I want to play Sekiro again instead of this crap.
@@RolandRG yeeaaahhh..... there are some REALLY fcked up bosses in terms of difficulty. and not so much their mechanics or fight, but just the ABSURD amount of health and damage. i went in with 60 vig and heavy armour and all the best defense talismans you can get, buffed with all the defenses. with 8 scuda blessing. some bosses will 3 shot me.
ironically, this makes black flame, the god slaying flame, the most useful for the DLC. due to the % damage it does. there have been a couple of bosses where the best method was literally hang back lob black fireballs at them cause melee was a death sentence.

I'm using the backhand blades +24 in ng+4 and it's not so bad. I have scadutree blessing 5 now but I beat the bosses with blessing 3. I love this dlc honestly

I can't help but notice that bosses are like 100 times LESS aggressive in these videos than when they fight me.
It's probably because they are coded to fight the player and not other bosses.
Ever notice how bosses will immediately chase you down when you try to roll away and heal? Certain actions make specific boss moves more likely, whereas there is no player data to go off from when they fight another boss.

Its input reading or how hypocrits like to point out "Animation reading" aka the boss reacts to the first frame of a player animation (heal, dodge, attack and so on). Boss AI cant handle other bosses doing these things, thats why they rarely avoid any damage that would be easily dodgable by a player but also react much less aggressive because a lot of the things they do is actually reactive.
That being said: Input reading or AnImAtIoN rEaDiNg sucks and shouldnt be part of a game, no matter the difficutly.
if you are not aggressive enough the bosses will be, it's the hard lesson from Elden Ring. but at the same time, avoid being greedy xD for example, Rellana herself, if you don't approach it as soon as the fight starts she will send a one shot kill slash.

well.... to be fair.... Rellana has an absurd amount of health and her damage is insane compared to base game bosses. maliketh and Malenia only won due to their mechanics being HP% based instead of flat damage. any major boss of the DLC will wreck the vast majority of the base game without problems. hell, wanna say the NPC fights might beat half of the base bosses in fact >.> shit's fcked up.
That and at least Malenia can be launched in the air or knocked back on her ass. Feel like Rellana would have had a harder time, and therefore be more fun to fight, if they actually gave her launch and knock back animations. Clearly the poise breaks are not enough.
I think that malenia, even without her % damage, is still a "DLC level" boss. Her first phase was enough to half rellana's health, teoricaly if continues like that the fight will be pretty evenly
@@zenildoneto7710the thing is, it’s not just the percentage based damage(Scarlett rot is the only one thing malenia has I think?) it’s the healing on hit. Healing on hit promotes no hitting and dodging or the fight is basically impossible since even if you do a bunch of damage she’ll get it back. Guess what most bosses and enemies can’t do? Dodge. It’s basically just a dps test for the boss fighting her, because if it’s not high enough they just can’t do anything at all.

Beating Rellana at Blessing level 1 as my first DLC boss in NG+2 is what my dumb ass did thinking I was going in the right direction. Took me a whole day, but man, what a fun boss fight. I don't know if parrying her made it easier or harder, but throughout all the attempts I've never gotten mad. Genuinely a great boss.
I then went back after realising my mistake, and did Dancing Lion, the actual first boss of the DLC, and the camera there was absolutely atrocious. Took me way fewer attempts to beat it, but the camera ruined the whole boss fight experience.
Yeah, you can tell they want you to play range with the Lion, fighting them in melee is a mess. Honestly worst boss experience with a camera for me was Bayle because he just doesn't stop attacking
Was watching a streamer and as soon as they stopped locking on to the beast, they started winning. The camera fucks you up in that fight.
Malenia was easily the most epic one. The slow walk at the start was perfect.

She is to Messmer what Malenia is to Miquella, I got that vibe IMMEDIATELY. The water in the arena, that one dodge attack that’s just like Malenias the whole fighting style flowing as it did. It was clearly supposed to Envoke that. She’s just easier because she doesn’t heal thank god 😂

@@nicolabertini2741 well I couldn’t beat Malenia without summons carrying me, this fight I tried that but she gets so crazy with the fire at the end that I would end up dying, so I found it to be easiest fighting her with a guard break build, and learning what attacks are the end of her combos so that you can just continually break her guard in the first phase, and then summon a guy to help you take her out. I think i must have been my play style then cause I did better learning her then I ever did with Malenia

I fought only her and the damn lion so far, and I believe BOTH are harder than Malenia, I can beat Malenia no summons but these two I had to use spirit ash after 20+ attempts of failing solo
I really feel her absense during the shattering is why things went to shit in the lands between. She has the power to end that conflict and i think she put the beats on radagon during his invasion of liurnia.

Nope. Its only because dlc scaling not work as it should with base game scaling. Since Nihil deal % base damage and overall deal around 130% of total hp, anyone, who have more then 1 hp or otherwise can't heal simple die to it no matter what. She only survive due to broken scaling between base game and dlc. Anyway, skills like black flame, malikesh dark flame and Nihil have fixed damage and nothing can really reduce damage from them. But since dlc scaling work different its don't deal full damage, as it should, since this is fixed damage.
In normal conditions Mohg never lose to Rellana.
YES, she is my favorite boss in this dlc. Can you do bayle the dread next?

@@hidan407 Word to that. I just started yesterday after 14 months hiatus. Currently NG+3 with RL 384 character. Lo and behold, the first kung-fu bird thing sitting on a stone arch totally obliterated me within a few minutes, because I could not even remember key bindings correctly after over year of not playing ER. So DLC is going to be so much fun, at least until I dust off my muscle memory I guess :D

This is why massive dmg over time is always better than nuke dmg, when Radahns meteor isnt enough to kill the opponent, or even Moghs blood implosions, they are completely sold out, meanwhile Destined Death will just keep doing dmg and the total amount will be way higher in comparison, my boy Maliketh never dissapoints.

Malenia is cool, but in reality it's the fact she heals so much and then waterfowl which is a massive burst heal for her against bosses.
For maliketh his Mobilility is too high for most bosses to manage and destined death shreds bosses for a reason.
It's their included gimmicks that makes them more difficult.
Fire giant just has a ridiculous hp pool and the way he takes dmg less or more depending on the area is for players entirely so it's a bit unfair.
I mean, still. "If she didn't have one of her core abilities she'd be weak man!" Isn't much of an arguement. It's a core ability, just like anyone else's in the end. There is no but only if it was removed in that equation, consider it all from what they have as a core, nothing more, nothing less. Thus, she remains potent due to these core abilities in her arsenal. Just how it is in the end. Doesn't matter a whole lot in the end, Malenia is a challenging optional boss fight, and that's about it. You could go the entire main game and dlc and technically still never face her, as it's never required. So in the end it's kinda eh.

@@aceknight6358 To be fair, I fight Rellana with NG+5 scale which is almost every boss hit as hard as malenia, so basically I can deal 2k damage per hit but her health barely even move, and her least powerful attack almost half of my health with 60 vigor.

I have a question, since dlc bosses scale with your level (I dont really know how what u did works so I'm only curious) did you do it with a lvl 1 character? Or some basic stats?

Nah, she locked in on mohg, flex'd hard on godfrey and styled on elden beast
I think part of the reason she's doing so good against the larger beasts is that she doesn't have a complete animation set. Animations for if she's grabbed for instance, or knocked down. Or thrown.
You really get a sense for how much better the AI is in the DLC compared to the base game. It’s incredible.
