- I went on a 2-week trip to Mahe, Seychelles. Mahe is the largest island in Seychelles - a group of over 100 islands found in the Indian Ocean.
The island yielded some incredible beaches with large, granite boulders dotted along its shores. Most special, however, was the stingray that we found on one of Mahe's lesser-known beaches, Anse Royale. We were even fortunate enough to get our stingray encounter whilst snorkelling in Anse Royale on 4k video with our DJI drone!
Anse Royale was our favourite Seychelles beach. The snorkelling was incredible and we got it nearly all to ourselves. It was perfect to fly the drone.

Those waters are literally see through! I have never swam with sringrays but you better believe it is on my list now!
I know! If the water hadn't been so clear, we'd never have found the stingrays. They're great to swim with but you can't get too close as they do have stings on their tails 😉
Oooh I've been wanting to go to the Seychelles forever! They are so far away for me though, so at the moment they remain a dream destination. Your balcony looked gorgeous - and I loved seeing all the sets of footprints up and down the first beach. Obviously it's a good walking spot. The second beach looks truly amazing, not surprised you went back so many times!
Seychelles are lovely but if I'm honest there's a lot of similar island destinations, some might be closer to where you are. I've spent a lot of time in the Caribbean and I wouldn't say Seychelles was any better. The beaches were stunning but I felt like the Seychelles lacked a little bit of culture compared to other islands I've visited.

It's been a while since I went to seychelles but it was stunning there. Love the edit. The beaches were indeed one of the most beautiful I've ever seen there. Awesome drone shots! I remember taking mine with me to seychelles only to realize that I forgot the battery - lol.

I didn't see any surfing. The waters were pretty shallow. But maybe there is on another island. This was just one of over 100 islands there! Definitely worth a visit :)

Wow I've never even heard of this area, thank you for sharing! We swam with stingrays in Grand Cayman and Moorea, Tahiti, but will have to look into this as well!
That sounds amazing! Stingrays aren't as abundant here as they are in the Cayman islands - I think I came across this guy by chance! There are other opportunities to see sea life too and at certain times of year you can see whale sharks!

Haha, being from the UK ,the left feels super normal! Although I do find the right is more intuitive. I naturally always want to drive on the right, lol. Omg spotty eagle ray was such a babe! There were actually 2 of them there. Sadly I forgot to press record when they were both there 😪 It was cute as we went to this beach 4 times and they were there every time. P.s You know your rays ;)

The apartments really look like In the middle of the jungle, and that seems impressive. Stunning island and water look like the aquarium. Great editing skills. New sub from our traveling family!

No, I love snorkelling! But maybe it's because I started from a very early age. I used to be scared of 'the dark bits' in the water (aka swimming over corral) but I seem to have gotten over that now :) I guess it takes experience. The more you do, the easier it gets

Haha, this was made so long ago! Yes, I do regret not seeing any other islands but whilst I wasn't filming, I was doing A LOT of work on my computer which limited my movements. I'd love to see Praslin and La Digue.

Thank you! Yep, it was huge! They're called 'flying foxes'. I think we must have had a nest close to our villa as I only saw them round there.

Ahh I've been making videos for myself for like 10 years and bought the drone in 2016 when I'd finally saved up enough. So I guess it wasn't instant. The mic is just my phone ;)

Anse Royale is a gem indeed!
It was an AirBnB! Prices in Seychelles are so high. We got this cabin for £70 a night but last time I checked the prices had gone up to £90 a night. That was the cheapest accommodation I found too!

I think that the Syechelles weather is similar year round. I went end of November / early December and enjoyed the weather whilst I was there. There were tropical downpours every now and then but it was overall great weather :)

Good question! I loved how quiet it was. There weren't many tourists so we had most spots practically to ourselves which was really neat.
We went to Mahe a few years ago, but never got ot experience this. Aren't the islands magical!?

So what was up with the locals approaching your car were they trying to sell stuff? We were thinking of going to Seychelles next year any tips?
So with the locals approaching the car, I'd just be wary. They didn't seem to be looking for trouble but I just got bad vibes from it. One of them was circling our car many times on his bike when we pulled up to check our map for directions. Someone else tried to tap on the glass when we pulled over somewhere else. Everywhere we pulled up in this area we got approached! I'm sure they're just trying to help out and hope to get tipped for it but I hate being harassed. This was in Mahé in a fairly remote part (the noth west near the national park). I think the other islands are more crime-free and if you're cautious and sensible everything should be fine :)
I got stund by a ray here and it was real painful!
Ah, man that does sound bad! To be honest, I totally forgot stingrays had stings when I was there 🙈

I was also surprised at how close I got. They were just chilling right by the beach. Anse Royale was my favourite beach :) the one with the stingrays!

Ahah, I'm not rich! I basically put all my leftover salary towards travel. I can't remember the last time I bought some clothing 😅 travel is also more affordable than you think and I only go away at most 3 times per year :)
