Now I noticed that the antique shed had only half a roof, but they also had quite a bit of unused tarps in there. Why not use those extra tarps to cover the holes in the roof?
Depending on how long that crossbow has been in there with the sun blasting on it I wouldn't shoot it. The string will be all dry and will snap within a few shots.
