  • Learning how to handplant on a skateboard has been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and never got around to trying it. I’ve done a hand plant over a spine before but to me doing it that way is much easier than coming back in on the transition. Psyched I was able to learn my first legit handplant!

      Good job dude! I got rock to fake and rock and roll on a small mini ramp, still trying to get the courage to get over the coping on the big concrete ramp at one of the parks I go to. It's the cold season now but gonna try and improve on the ramp when i get back

    Ah good tip for these are try to pop the tail while grabbing the board especially if you are doing them in the middle of the transition (good for warming up for the trick). And pay attention to your backfoot placement, I place my foot almost in a pop shov position but way inside the tail so my back foot doesn't lose grip. Also grabbing the board way early and firmly really helped me not lose the board even tho it doesn't look as cool. Sucking your legs right before landing helps too oh and having board rails really helped me alot with this trick but I don't think it's necessary.

    I recently found your channel and wanted to say thanks for making these kinds of videos where you learn new tricks and show your progression. I recently started skating about half a year ago and your channel has helped a lot. Many of trick tips/tutorials out there are done by people who've done the trick hundreds of times and have probably forgotten how scary/hard it was the first few times so seeing you do it makes it easier to understand the process. Hope you keep making these and can't wait to get through the rest of your videos!

    Also if you cross your arm as you're coming up it's like one smooth motion and you got it air out of the ramp before you plant your hand to the coping or you can leave your hand on the ramp and let it slide up as you air out and then make contact with the coping as you're pulling your bored as tight as you can to your chest

    I watched this video and literally went out to learn this. First thing is that for such a unique trick that no one really tries and is seemingly hard, it’s actually quite easy to work your way up to getting the board over the coping. It’s really as simple as working your way up the ramp getting used to putting your hand down and turning. Which leads to the second point which is to really focus on putting your weight on your hand. Once you make sure you do that and aren’t just touching the ramp with your finger tips, the motion becomes far more natural and automatic. Because the more weight you put on your hand, the easier it is to scoop the board off the ramp. And in the end, it’s all about working your way up to putting your hand on the coping, which is really just a mental obstacle for committing what you already know

    • @leredditcommander8208
      @leredditcommander8208 Před 2 lety

      You dont need to put your weight on.your arm, just the inertia is enough. Arm is more an instrument to turn back in and give you time to position landing

      !!Tipp!! for everyone: I learned handplants, when i was 10 years old and stil doing them absolutley safe. Try to early grab like a melon, but between your legs. Not sure what the grab is called. It keeps the board on your feet proper. It's really not that hard, if you do it like this.

    • @maxt99shiun62

    Went to my first ramp this month. Looked scary as all hell to drop in on and I wasn’t even standing on it I was just looking at it and I’m 6’5”. I tried to just go start from the bottom and try to pump my way up but the flat on the ramp was like half of what the ramp in the video is. Could have used more in order to push and prepare to start pumping. I’ll return to it. As much fun as normal riding is there something so alluring about ramps (and bowls).
    One day!
