    It is incredible to witness these dainty flowers in all shapes and colour carpet the harsh landscapes around. The best time to view these wild flowers are between the middle of august to middle of September so make sure you add this to your 2024 travel bucketlist!
    Let’s take you back to the start as we drive down the scenic Pakhuys pass making our way towards the Biedouw Valley. After a scenic drive through the colourful flowers we made it to our campsite. We stayed at Enjo Nature Farm and take you for a tour of the property after cleaning up our tiny home on wheels. We took a stroll along the farm roads , found a reservoir and ended off the day with a cool off in the river flowing past camp.
    The next day we wake up with the sounds of weaver birds chirping, brew some fresh coffee before hitting the road. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side as it was extremely windy and cloudy so the flowers didn’t open up but we decided to keep driving and see what came. After a while driving the Karoo Highlands route we found ourselves heading towards a mountain which took us from the Western Cape into the Northern Cape. We made it to camp for the night as a storm was pulling in so we got to work for the rest of the evening.
    In the morning we woke to sunshine and dew all around camp. Star Wors campsite only has 3 private sites and it is themed around Star Wars. We stayed in camp Yoda which has a private boma area with a braai, running water to do dishes and 12V electrical plug points. As well as a private shower built into the rocky boulders. Communal toilets and braais are scattered around the property. One can also use the wood fired hot tub for a small extra fee.
    We hit the road and found ourselves pulling over very quickly as the flowers were in full bloom with the sun shining. The fields were covered in yellow and we couldn’t wait to see what the day had in store. We grabbed some roadside snacks from locals who were baking Roosterbroods on the open fire. Fresh warm bread with butter, cheese & jam - DELISH.
    Arriving at the Gannabos Quiver Tree forest we were amazed to see all the overlanders also in search of wild flowers at this time of year. We paid R50 per person entrance free then walked through these large scattered succulents. This is the largest quiver tree forest in the Southern Hemisphere. There are no designated paths you can wander freely as you please.
    The Nieuwoudtville Waterfall was magnificent to witness! We weren’t expecting much but we’re instantly amazed at the large drop off with dainty purple flowers around, it was so worth the stop!
    Our last stop for the day was at the Nieuwoudtville Wild Flower Reserve. The variety of wildflowers in the area were mesmerising! We had fun driving and wandering through the flower fields and would definitely recommend a road trip in search of this spectacular nature show. Rusks joined us for a little walk through the yellow daisies then it was time to make our way back towards the Western Cape.
    We hope you enjoyed this weeks video, see you in the next one!

    SA is breath taking. So dverse, beautiful wild flower meadows, stone outcroppings , unusual trees, such contrasts in weather that mirrors the landscape. Seeing this is beyond anything I've read about. Thank you and safe travels.

      Most incredible untouched country. Don’t listen to all the media out there about our country, only the bad stuff gets out there. Can highly recommend a visit 🙌🏼🇿🇦✨

      @@MichaelandAcacia Thank you for the invitation. I'd love nothing more. Unfortunately, I'm 78 and have a number of health issues that prevent traveling far. That's why your videos are so precious to me.

    Guys it seems like you going through this journey so fast ... it's like you will be done with all the South African experience soon. What are yourll going to do next.

    • @MichaelandAcacia
      @MichaelandAcacia  Před 11 měsíci +1

      We definitely not moving fast haha we spend a month in a new area before moving on. Our journey has no end date. We have still got so much to see in South Africa it’s crazy. We have only spent one night in in KZN, Free State and Northern Cape so there is still plenty to see and do in SA before leaving. We can also go explore all our neighbouring countries still

    Hi guys. Thanx again for the nice video. Could you please insert the names of roads, places, campsites and beaches that you travel on or visit?

      Hey there.
      We do mostly name the campsites and main locations. Unfortunately too much work to do roads as we drive so many different ones.

    Still lovong your videos. You guys arnt a bit scared of camping with these camp murders? Look at what recently happened at the camp site in centurion.

    • @MichaelandAcacia
      @MichaelandAcacia  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks ✨🚐 we don’t camp in places like that, and if you look into it. That’s one campsite and the rest happen else where in “safe homes” we find being away from cities like that are way safer

    I'd like to know, according to your SA experience, do you find SA 'VERY UNSAFE' and if you'd recommend other wheelers to do the vanlife SA

      Hey. We are South African and find it very safe. We have been traveling for nearly 3 years now and all has been good. Don’t listen to what others say rather just come and experience it. You will be amazed as to how different you will find it.
