  • In this video we look at the effectiveness of MultiCam® Tropic camouflage pattern in a Woodland Environment during the spring/summer time (North Texas woods). This video will consist of numerous scenes where each will begin with a concealed stationary position (both with & without the use of vegetation), followed by a movement phase out of the initial position. The purpose of the video is to give the viewer a chance to see the individual camouflage pattern and how it looks and blends into this environment. There will be varying degrees of how much of the uniform will be exposed to the viewer. Some scenes will only expose little more than perhaps a hat, while other scenes will have virtually no vegetation covering.
For more information about this pattern check out their website: multicampattern...

I live in the UK, and I find multicam tropic is highly effective when I go bird watching, it blends in much better than British MTP. I have trousers (pants), and a ubacs combat shirt made by Bulldog tactical, baseball cap, and I also incorporate a A-TACS FG neck gaiter, and Mechanix wear original multicam gloves. I wish that Mechanix would make multicam tropic gloves

According to an older Brent0331 video, the m90 uniform is to hot for tropic environments. My favorite patterns for Florida are A-tacs FG, A-tacs IX, and MC Tropic. Sometimes I'll train wearing UCP pants with an A-tacs FG top, a tropic or ix boonie, and desert boots. lol
I still use my old UCP ACU's which many hate but I always liked.

Love what your doing. I noticed that in a lot of the different hides that you were demonstrating you done so with the sun to your back which threw your silhouette. At that point the best camo in the world wouldn't break you up. Multicam is amazing in the way that the multiple shades of colors trick the eye and pulls the surrounding environment into the colors in the camo. Also you're doing a a great job of camoing yourself despite the camo pattern that you're using by putting vegetation or land features between yourself and the point of view of the watchers.

MultiCam does MultiCam, is it the best in woodland? Absolutely not, but that was never the goal.
The goal of a multi terrain pattern is to be a jack of all trades, and it's especially effective for long patrols that stretch over different environments, like for example Afghanistan where you'd have arid hills and mountains but lush irrigated river valleys.
MultiCam will work just fine for woodland, but for an environment where you knew 90% of the time you're going to be hiding in heavy foliage then perhaps you would want a woodland leaning version of MultiCam, and the idea is (at least with the US Army's OCP) your core gear like your vest, bag and pouches will be the transitional version of OCP, then you get issued a woodland or desert version of your fatigues which match the OCP pattern shape wise but have colours which blend better with the environment if you were going to tropical forests or sandy deserts.

I was internally debating between Multicam Tropic and A-TACS FG-X as a camo for more green environments. Your videos helped me make a decision so thank you! This variant of Multicam seems to be a tad too dark in some cases whereas in your A-TACS FG-X video that camo seemed to always do fairly well and appeared dark notably less frequently. Multicam Tropic seems like it would be best suited for literal tropics, hence the name I'm assuming, where there is much less light in the jungle environments. I'm eager to try out the FG-X come spring time, I'm hoping it does well!

One big advantage multicam uses is the white/off white splotches. This drastically aids in depth perception fooling the eye to think it sees the light coming through from behind the soldier. Each camo is designed for mainly a specific area and even time of year. This does work well.

Brother Brent, if I had to pick between Multicam Tropic and Rhodesian, I would have taken the Rhodesian anytime, however the multicam tropic is out of place in the Texas woods. Good video, Brent at least you are showing the pros and cons of all camouflage patterns, keep up the good work bro.

  • @bersicker3481
    @bersicker3481 Před 4 lety

Multicam is so adaptive that it works better to kneel behind light cover if you notice on every theater/ demonstration that when you come out of prone into the kneeling position, you are better camouflaged in the kneeling position. Multicam tricks the eye by pulling everything in your foreground and background into the colors of the pattern. Laying horizontal on the ground works against the camo, the colors and shapes along the ground is too busy. It works well with woodland because of the dark dominant colors. With multicam it just makes your silhouette more prominent, actually the only part of you that you can see the camo is still doing what its designed to do. Maybe do a video dedicated to showing the effectiveness of camps of different varieties in the kneeling and prone positions

I know this may sound dumb as in it wasnt intented for this, but I would like to see an effectiveness video during the fall/winter months. Since its winter now could you get a Multi-Cam Tropic Part II in before spring time? I noticed it doesnt blend well with woodland vegetation but it does well with the ground.

  • @throatnotchingtroutzzz6789

Very effective in the green, naturally enough, and also in combination with the ground and so, even if it is not green. Sort of in the same field as Cad-pat, Russian Digital Flora, Danish M84, Swedish M90, Ukrainian Jaba ("toad", "polyova" or Field Toad "light" green version.) and other mostly green patterns (those I could remember just now)(Ok, of cause also A-TACS FG + IX, Czech VZ 95, SPECTRE from Russian company SSO, and original Tiger Stripe, maybe, though TS also has a lot of black in it too. AHHH so MANY different camos!!!). Maybe not as dark as eg. M84, with black in it too, though, but darker than eg. Jaba for sure. The only problem, (if one can call it that?) with these very "micro" pattern based camos is, IMHO, that even on quite short distanced, they look like a "single" or "mono" color, in this case green, as the exact pattern fades away, and colors blur into one another, and in such cases they are very similar, so distances cannot be that long. In contrast the French CCE or of cause 3- color or 6- color desert, Russian SS-leto and so, they are more "makro" IMHO, :o) but maybe easier to spot on short distances or through binoculars, scopes and such technologies?? Good pattern definitely though for green environments. Good work as always. and nice day!! :o)

Thanks for another great video. I'm 50/50 on this pattern. Sometimes it blends very well, and other times sore thumb. Which folds into a comment I mad a couple of days about UCP. In the right place at the right time DAMN! But... agh!
I wish I had the time money and equipment to try this in my part of the U.S. where a lot of the foliage is a bit darker than where you are. We're classified as a sub-tropical climate and just looking at the greens in the pattern it might do well. But MultiCam ( Kryptec ) prices are beyond reason when there are other patterns that cost less and do a decent job.

I say this one beats the standard woodland and chocolate chip desert that I wore in the military. It seems pretty equal to the Real Tree camouflage you presented in another video; however would the Real Tree work as well in this spring environment. This multi cam tropical is good stuff.

It did much better then expected to be honest, multicamn is just a great camo even know many people seem to dislike it but that is becaus everyone and their mother has it even many militarys use it. Saw some German special forces with the normal multicam, makes definetly sense if you dont know where your next mission is.
