Xolair

  • Xolair treats asthma in both adults and children. Specifically it seems designed for those with positive skin or blood allergy tests to triggers present year round including dust mites, certain pollens, pet dander or mold. Those with seasonal allergies to blooming plants are not candidates for Xolair. Xolair also may be appropriate for chronic hives lasting at least 6-12 weeks.
Xolair acts to help prevent flares of allergic asthma; it must not be used to treat acute asthma attacks. Xolair assists in maintaining control of asthma of at least moderate severity not controlled by commonly prescribed inhaled steroids together with short or long acting beta agonists.
Unlike with Fasenra, Nucala or Dupixent; Xolair inactivates the allergy antibody known as immunoglobulin E or simply IgE. The drug appears moderately useful but typically reduces rather than eliminates acute attacks.
Side effects remain a subject of concern. Due to the possibility of severe anaphylactic reactions, the drug should be administered in a medical facility and the patient observed for awhile prior to leaving. Depending on body weight and level of IgE, these injections may be necessary either at two or four week intervals. Arguments surround the incidence of cardiovascular events associated with therapy and whether a slight increase occurs in the risk of cancer. Studies fall on either side of the debate.
Depending on body weight and IgE blood levels, the cash price of Xolair may be as high as $28,000 a year or about $77 a day.

Wow, watching those hives dissolve every day until they disappear is definitely appeasing, I went with what I commented about and after 20 or so days the urticaria’s history, I simply go'ogled the latest by Shane Zormander and now my skin is as smooth and healthy as it has ever been!

That’s what I’m wondering. I experienced that sensation with my most recent injection but my Dr. doesn’t think it’s necessarily related. But I don’t see how it’s not considering I had it the injection the day before my symptoms and that’s the only thing that was out of the ordinary.

Swollen throat can be a sign of anaphylactic. It can be life threatening and you would usually need to go to ER.
