"Hello strange boys, follow me into this abandoned building" - This guy
Those two (were there three, there weren't three, were there?) boys are the only living souls under the age of thirty (or twenty) I've seen in your Moldovan videos. And the young ones seem to be speaking Romanian. I wish you would have spoken to them, I mean, just to ask where all their buddies are, or why they're not at school (if they have trains and what not, surely they've got schools in the country).
That's a disaster (economically speaking) though, having the youth of a country speaking a different language (although, back ⊠at a bus station in the Capital, if I'm not mistaken, I saw a flyer for a social/political event aimed at the well-heeled elderly - I can just picture Judi Dench poking about the ruins of the NaÈional (Hotel))âŠ
Oh, and, yelling, "hello???" down old abandoned Soviet bunker-shafts, aren't you just setting yourself up for some nice nightmares? But that's a different day's story.
Well, I'm off to your Chernobyl set, now.

@@damianalexanderthornton2663 Romanian and Modovan are the same language, some say Moldovan could be considered a dialect, but those children were speaking the language of their country. Romania is the union of Valaquia and Moldova (and Transilvania was added later I guess). Centuries later Moldova was divided and part of it was given the USSR, that part is today's country of Moldova.
@@Ukitsu2 Yeah, I understand/speak both Russian & Romanian (I've done more than my fair share of traveling, myself - probably more than Baldr at this point, but he's certainly catching up) but at 8:50 (well, basically throughout his videos) Baldrâs got his version of Russian going, but the boys are clearly speaking Romanian, not Russian at 12:00 ("acolo stai Èi te uiÈi la concert" / "you sit there and watch the concert").
But to my ears it sounds ⊠'Russified'?
I hear a heavier than [my] usual 'e' in their speech.
I know what they said, but to my ears, I heard something like ⊠"achuolo staiy Èiy tie wuiÈi la conciert" (which is a horrible mangling of spelling, but, as I said, that's what my ears heard, phonetically).
I'm very aware that it's probably just an accent thing, the way most people from Texas would likely understand every word of English I spoke, but they'd say I sound different because I have a British accent to their ears.
Baldr seems to have a preference for quick trips the east - apart from IaÈi & Bucharest, most of my travels [in Romania] have been from the northwest (think Oradea) east to maybe Sighet, then south towards Sibiu / Craiova and back to Oradea via ReÈiÈa & TimiÈoara by car. I take trains to Bucharest, and I take planes to IaÈi. I've never driven myself to those two cities, but I am familiar with them.
I think I've accumulated about five years in Romania by now. It's my go-to place when I want to retreat from "the real world" and just drop off the planet for awhile.
I'm unfortunately too posh to go where these videos were shot though, because in all honesty, I am a skinny 6Âœ-ft tall bean-pole of a human ⊠I'd be lying if I said the idea of just dropping into completely unfamiliar territory (that's partially in ruins) doesn't intimidate me. It certainly intrigues me - but look at him - he's built like Dwayne Johnson! I'm built like TimothĂ©e Chalamet, except about 10 inches taller and probably 10 years older. But not one ounce heavier. Love that you can walk into all these abandoned buildings without fear of being assulted by the youths you find in there. Having worked in abandoned buildings in the UK it's a scary job sometimes as you never know who you'll come across. Most likely they'll be drunk/high/aggressive so it's a delight to see how different it is elsewhere
It's not always that safe. I believe the reason it looks safe is because this was in fairly remote area or a small town. If you stumble upon an abandoned building in big city, I recommend getting out of there as soon as possible.
In that situation (and I've been in similar buildings in other countries in the former USSR), I'd be just as worried about having a balcony collapse while I'm standing on it, or asbestos exposure.

Be careful exploring abandoned underground mines/buildings. They can be filled with carbon monoxide, which you can't smell. You don't feel the lack of oxygen so you end of passing out and dying. Dangerous stuff.

I don't know if carbon monoxide is the largest danger, there can be a variety of dangerous gases or a lack of oxygen as a result from oxygen being consumed by the decomposition of organic material and rusting. Carbon monoxide is a possibility but it would not be wise to carry a meter only for that, you need at least one sensing both CO, combustible gases and oxygen.
You are only going to get Carbon Monoxide poisoning at the bottom of a tank or vessel where the gas sinks to the bottom and cannot escape. Fact.

really enjoying these videos, ive learned so much about the soviet union, learnt a little bit of russain aswell, thank you mate keep up the work
Like others below, I'd like to say that your "boring" videos where "nothing happened" are in fact REALLY interesting. You give us a glimpse into a world that few, if any, will ever visit and your audience is constantly amazed by the sheer balls you show in striking out into the unknown. Keep 'em coming, the boring and the crazy ... we'll watch them all with interest, humour and relish every moment.
It seems there is more life in the Chernobyl forbidden zone than in most of Moldavia...
:))) good one đđđ
Unfortunately there is so much corruption in Moldova that people have to leave for a better life, everyday people from kids to old people,Iâm from Moldova I lived in there 19 years and i had no idea about this tunnel and bunker
Hahaha
@@dumitrucheptene948 it's so sad to see the shape of the country now...the soviet union actually was better for these countries

Dude, i'm from russia (sorry for my English, but i hope you can understand my message) and i want to say you - thank you for all your videos. This comment not for this video but for all your channel. That's amazing, how you can find some "connection" with our ("our" means not only russians, but all post-soviet) people. That's really cool and i respect you for that. I don't like a lot of things in our countrys like what our government do, how they wan isolatet us from another countries, Putin's monarh abision, corruption and lot, lot of this terrible things. They's actions (can i use that word in this context?) make me sad and very angry. But i really love our simple peoples, our babushka's, our mom's... And i whan to tell you - THANK YOU, bro. You show our true life. All sides of our culture - not only good's or only bad's. And most important - you UNDERSTAND us. You show western people true spirit of post-soviet nation's.
Guys, if you want look how we actualy live - watch this man's channal. He's can explain and show you it better then all of non-russian youtubers and travelbloggers. Like russian i declare - this guy is True.
P.S. My message may look funny and
tongue-tied, sorry for that.
I wish I could say more beautiful, use more beauty and exact words, to convey the whole point of what I wanted to say, but i cant :( I hope, you forgive and understand me that... and will not laugh much :^)
I'm a native English speaker. You write and express yourself very well in English.
Greetings from India.
Slavs are the best people.
Russian boys are handsome and Russian girls are pretty. Good luck.
Why is it when people start their sentence with "sorry if my English is bad" I know it will be absolutely fine or even better than native speakers.
I love coming to CZcams and seeing a new video from you, Mr. Bald. I love seeing parts of the world this disabled body will never take me. Thank you for helping to spread kindness and an openness to peoples that don't often see foreigners. Nostrovia from these United States!
and US is bankrupt..? whose poor whose spending much money on defense other than the peoples welfare first.
@@reneabrea4123 why do you have to make things political? The man is saying he is physically disabled and therefore cannot travel abroad, that's it

12:00 the little boy speaking Romanian said: Acolo te duci si te uiti de sus la concert. Translated it would mean: You'd go up there and watch the concert'
