We say just "morning" in the US too. Maybe they just heard your accent 🙂 Celebration is an interesting place. I thought it would feel fake and tacky but it's really nice. It's similar to other suburban towns that copy various housing styles, except planned better. Looks like you all had a great day!

I'm sure you guys know that Celebration WAS used as a prop town, in many films needing a "typical American small town/Midwestern vibe". Very similar to Seaside, Florida in the "Truman Show", because it looks so nicely artificial, and Jim Carrey's character lives in a fake town.
It's a GREAT movie, and nice commentary on "reality" shows!
    Love Celebration!
And you're fine just saying "Morning", we do this all over America, he may have said "good morning" just so he didn't sound like he was exactly parroting you. At least where I am, if someone says "good morning", the other person might say "how are you", again, just not to repeat exactly.
    Just a silly colloquial thing.
"Morning!" is a perfectly nice and normal greeting! As is "Evening!"

@@duotronicnone4572 I had heard it was filmed there so many times! But you're right, it was mainly filmed in Seaside, Florida. But many other films have used Celebration when looking for "typical American small town/ midwestern" locations.

Front yards are for mowing and back yards are for living. No one spends any time in their front yard where I live in the Midwest. Different states have different license plate requirements; for example, in Kansas we have rear plates only, but in Missouri, they have both. Since people in Kansas work in Missouri and vice versa, you see both. Since Florida attracts visitors from many states, you'll see both.

We say, “morning.” There are no hard and fast rules about greetings. I agree that you are in a beautiful neighbor. In neighborhoods like Celebration, there are fees associated with living there. A portion of the HOA fee is for maintenance that includes a manicured front lawn, and there are rules as to how one can decorate their house. If a hurricane hits Florida, there is usually a significant amount of damage. Before the great influx of northerners, native Floridians built low ranch homes from cinder blocks. These homes are able to withstand high winds. When northerners began building homes, they wanted to build houses like those to which they were accustomed. Stick built homes cannot bear hurricane winds and certainly not two story houses.

  • @Jack_Stafford
    @Jack_Stafford Před 2 lety +13

Registration plates on front.. most states do not require them.
They are seen as a waste of money, since the plate really only comes into play when the police are pulling you over, which is always from behind (they don't "overtake" and park in front like in some other countries).
Also, in states where plates are only on the back, it is sometimes illegal to back into a parking space, because it conceals the plate.
But normally, there really isn't a reason to have one on the front, and on many cars, particularly sharp pointed sports or luxury cars, the front plate is seen as ugly and detracts from the styling.
In states where they aren't required, the cars sold don't even have the place to attach it, which looks so much better!
But can cause an issue if you move to a state that does require front plates, a friend of mine had to use wire and attach it to her car's grille since there was no other way to attach it!
Just another fun, weird thing about America, difference twixt states, I'm glad no front plates, cuts costs by half and looks much better imo!
I was disappointed to find that all over England, indeed, most of Europe, the plates don't vary much. You can't tell where anyone is from. In my state, they even indicate the county the person is from, we like to know. If someone is driving badly, you can see they are from a county on the other side of the state, and say "oh, okay, they aren't from here and have no idea where they are going". LOL!
They tried to eliminate the county info, but people rebelled so much, we were so used to just needing to know if someone is local or from out of town, that the state had to issue additional sticker to put on the plates!
I guess the bad side of that is, some counties have big cities with lots of crime, so if you travel to the next county, and they see you are from "that bad county", people will judge them, and their chances of getting "randomly" pulled over goes up a lot.... in smaller town especially where they are always suspicious of big city people.

    • @Blade_Runner_79
      @Blade_Runner_79 Před 2 lety +6

That all applies to my state as well!
"Beware the cars from That County", they may be drug dealers!
Sounds so sad to say it, bit it's true, often middle sized town people are suspicious of people from huge cities.
and agree, front plates are pointless and ugly lol

Unless personal, number plates in the UK indicate the area they were first registered, so if the first letter is "O" it was Oxford, "R" Reading,, L " London" etc. Sometimes the second letter narrow it down further.

Just recently found your videos and I love them!
The reason some cars have plates in the front of the cars and some don't is because some states require them in the front and some don't. And only half of the people in Florida, especially Orlando, are actually from Florida. The other half are tourists and people from the north who go to Florida to get away from the cold.

If no one has told you about the license plates here goes. Each State determines how many license plates are required to be displayed. My current State of North Carolina only issues one plate which must be displayed at the rear of the vehicle. My former State, Virginia issues two plates which need to be mounted in the front and rear of the vehicle.

Yeah it's weird to see front license plates in Tennessee... Florida doesn't require them either. I don't think any state in the south requires them

Fun to see you in Orlando. I've never been there but we went to our daughter's house in Naples for a week mid-December and it foo so so clean and lovely but with lots of Palm trees. I love it! I(We live in the Pacific Northwest south of Seattle) but my husband is a Londoner!

I don’t know if you are still in Orlando but the best thing to do this time of the year is to see the Manatees in Blue Springs, which is in Orange City FL, NE of Orlando.

🚴‍♂🚴🏘🏡🌴🐢 Looks like a lovely bike ride. In the summertime I'd imagine the heat would be too much for a long ride. Good time to visit.

Nice camera work going through the boardwalk in the trees! Did you ask someone to watch your camera for you to ride past?

What a nice and relaxing day, it sounded so peaceful and quiet. I love going on bike rides with my family but we haven’t had much time to do it in a while, I wonder if they have tandem bikes at the rental place. It’s difficult for my brother and I to ride on our own since we can’t see very well, which sucks because then we basically have to depend on other people to be able to take us. It sounded like a lot of fun and a good day for a bike ride. 😎🌟❇️❤️

Since you returned to us on this side of the puddle; you may enjoy looking into an unusual place. In grand rivers kentucky is acplace named patti's 1880 settlenent. It is near the land between the lakes. (The dam that seperates kentucky lake and lake barkley). Patti's has absolutely amazing food. And merangue pues over 10 inches tall. No joke. They have a lively bed and breakfast as well as boutiques. And, if you would be interested in exploring one of our national parks, a couple of hours drive is mammoth cave national park. As it is winter, going underground in a cave of constant temp; not a bad way to spend a winters' day. :)

I just say morning. I use to say good morning but so many people replied what's so good about it that I just started leaving the good out lol. Some States don't require 2 plates or tags as we call them. West Virginia doesn't require 2 but Maryland does. Yes it's legal to drive without 2 plates in Maryland if you have West Virginia plates. It all depends on what State your plates are from not what State you're driving in. If that makes any sense lol.

You can also tell it’s a turtle simply because it’s hanging out in the water. Only turtles are amphibious. Tortoises are strictly land dwellers. They’re the ones you’ll encounter roaming the deserts.

Talk to Adam the woo next time you’re in celebration as he lives there. He knows a lot about the Orlando area especially the things people try ignore. He also knows most of the history here and the sites where they happened. I would kinda avoid Kissimmee right around the 192 as that is where a lot of abandoned local tourist attractions still stand like the giant alligator and the “beach” bungalows. Some of 192 is ok with the margaritaville resort and the shopping area and the fun giant souvenir shops (you literally can’t miss them as they are designed to be eye catching) but the rest is kinda dirty and boring.

License plates in the front vary by state. In California it is illegal NOT to have a front plate. In Arkansas where I live now, no front plate at all.
