Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a 2023 first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. It is a sequel to 2022's Modern Warfare II, serving as the third entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series and the twentieth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. The game was released on November 10, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Modern Warfare III retains the realistic, modern setting of its predecessors and continues the sub-series storyline. The story follows multi-national special operations unit Task Force 141 tracking down Vladimir Makarov, a Russian ultranationalist and terrorist planning to trigger a third World War. The game's multiplayer includes sixteen remastered maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, with at least twelve new maps planned for inclusion post-launch. A Zombies mode, co-created by Black Ops sub-series developer Treyarch and built around an open world player versus environment experience, is also included.
After wrapping development on Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021), Sledgehammer Games were reportedly assigned by Activision to develop an expansion pack for Modern Warfare II, which then changed to become a full, standalone release in the Call of Duty series. After a series of leaks in early-to-mid 2023, the game was officially revealed in August 2023, with a showcase event and public beta also taking place in October. Upon release, Modern Warfare III received mixed reviews: it received praise for its multiplayer mode but criticism for its campaign mode, while its Zombies mode received mixed opinions.
XDefiant (formerly known as Tom Clancy's XDefiant) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft San Francisco and published by Ubisoft. XDefiant is currently in development and is set to be released in the future on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
It features a variety of factions and classes, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. The game is set in a near-future version of the United States, where players engage in fast-paced, team-based multiplayer matches across a variety of maps and game modes.
The setting of the game revolves around factions called "Defiant", Wolves (from Ghost Recon), Echelon (from Splinter Cell), and the Outcasts and Cleaners (from The Division). Factions from Far Cry and Watch Dogs are also planned. Defiants are customizable with traits, abilities, devices, weapons and items. It has 6-versus-6 linear game modes (such as "Domination" and "Escort"). The game has punk visual art elements.
The game was officially announced by Ubisoft in July 2021. A closed Insider test of a pre-alpha version of XDefiant occurred in North America in 2021. A second Insider test was held in February 2023. A closed beta test began in April 2023. In March 2022, the game was rebranded as a part of the Ubisoft Originals brand, dropping the Tom Clancy's universe title, and is expected to feature characters from other Ubisoft franchises.
On 17 April 2023, shortly after the launch of the games closed beta, XDefiant became one of the top games to be streamed on the Twitch streaming platform, gaining around 50k viewers and passing the combined popularity of Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. - Hry

Not defending ubisoft, but has it ever occurred to you that, adding all those feature to a fast paced shooter would heavily impact the performance and making system requirements unnecessarily high?
Like come on, xD is not that good ik, but asking for that fancy resource hogging physics on a overwatch-esque game only making it more harder to optimize thus making it run horrible and borderline unplayable.
There's a reason why in most competitive fast paced shooter, such fancy physics didn't exist.

2 weeks later and... wow.
I still have faith in Ubisoft.
They made Rainbow Six Siege, ruined it in the hope to get on the Fortnite train.
Now they finally made a game with its own identity, that mixes up the universe of Ubisoft only.
For a free game, the gameplay is very satisfying and addicting. Maybe few perks are a bit weird and needs a nerf, but I think we finally have THE ubisoft game. And the devs behind it, aren't random. They worked on prior Call Of Duties, notally OG Mw2 and Ghost.
The first time I played Xdefiant I almost vomitted. But now, I'm starting to enjoy it.
Maybe I am alone ? But I am having the greatest of fun.

Imo they should add a match every time you win. You play against players with high or low ping, and that determines the skill also.

i mean the engine and most details used in the new mw trilogy started developing after infinite warfare and counted with sledgehammer and raven working in it too, so cod has like twice development time and probably like 4 times more workers on it
(GAME DESIGNER) So modern warfares bullets are actually projectiles shot out of the end of the gun while Xdefiant is executing their bullets off of (line trace) basically a line that gets shot out of the gun when you shoot and is programmed to leave a hit decal, sound effect and spark effect which is a lot harder to try and dynamically create a sound for every single thing in the game. One has real bullets the other doesn't.
(Mod Developer) XDefiant does have a bad fire geometry for vehicles and not having any bullet impacts on Water is a big NO GO for todays standard. And Xdefiant lacks simple bullet impacts on stuff that isnt metal

I like both COD and XDefiant but I personally don’t see it lasting very long. People are already getting hyped for BO6 after seeing its (potential) preorder offering and at the end of 2025, GTA 6 is set to release which will most likely knock both franchises off the top spot. (COD will be fine because it survived GTA 5 during Ghosts and RDR2 during BO4s release) but I don’t know about XDefiant.

My thing about Xdefiant is that yes it's free. But it's also made by Ubisoft, and Ubisoft definitely has a track record. I think this Xdefiant hype is less about the fact that the game is that great and more about the fact that people want to see Cod die, I want to add that I'm not saying Xdefiant isn't a good game, I personally am having as much fun with it as everyone else is, I just personally don't think it feels that much different from Cod
Obviously CoD has much better visuals, physics and animations, but fortunately for XDefiant, that doesn't make CoD the better game. Unfortunately XDefiant doesn't really do anything special imo. It bored me super fast. Other than playing ranked in Warzone, I'm not really that big into CoD, hell I don't even own MW3, but I'd sooner pay $70 for CoD than play XDefiant for free personally. Truth be told though, if it weren't for Warzone, I'd just play various Battlefield games or The Finals over both CoD and XDefiant anyway lol

This isnt a fair comparison, CoD market themselves as a " Fast-Paced Realistic War Simulator" while XDefiant is marketed as a fast-paced Arcade shooter. So the objectives of these dev teams had similar goals for gameplay but not for details..

We really don't need to keep comparing similar games because we know nothing will ever kill COD. It's simply too big to fail. Doing so ends up making the "killer" be killed and I hope that doesn't happen to XDefiant.
That being said, for a game that's free, it presented itself on launch day much better than many AAA games that have come out in recent years and doesn't take up a third of your hard drive. It's not like this game is supposed to be packed with content; it's a simple F2P game that scratches an itch I personally had for years that not a single shooter was able to scratch.

Xdefiant is never gonna “kill CoD” the game is a juggernaut and has the smoothest gameplay and greatest physics and graphics in the genre whatever you like it or not. It’s an alright game and I’m not gonna shit on it. But it has the stain of Ubisofts reputation and graphically looks worse than BO3, which came out in 2015. I have a really strong gut feeling Xedefiant is gonna be one of those “killer” games that dies after a month or two. It’s happened countless times before. Especially since we’re getting a sequel to BO2 and Black Ops 6. They are clearly trying to snag CoDs audience, and with the very team shooter-esk gameplay that’s not gonna happen, CoD fans don’t give two shits about how they’re teammates do as long as they win.

XDefiant has cluncky movement coming from CoD, that's probably the only reason I didn't like the game. it's good, but the ping also is a second thing, I'm used to 9 ping in CoD coming to XDefiant to play on a 100 ping is not good, sometimes it gets me into matches with 23 ping which is fine but why is it rare? if the servers are there and there's no SBMM why am I being redirected to 100 ping servers?

Nobody will ever kill cod, the only real chance would’ve been with BFV, since COD lost to BF1 if Dice had kept that momentum they could have at least knocked cod off the top slot but they dropped the ball with BFV and COD took it back with MW19, people dislike MW3 but the hate is nowhere near where it was during the IW vs BF1 season when the IW trailer was the most disliked video in history at the time.

XDEFIANT focuses more on fun and gameplay than unnecessary details that you won’t even notice in a match. They don’t put time into that because the average player just wants to have fun so they spend their time making the game fun. Fun and less detailed > soulless and detailed.
