Artists like Yussef Dayes, Kiefer, Tom Misch, Rocco and Pino Palladino, Berlioz, Kaytranada and many others take a multitude of beat making styles such as Hip Hop, Neo Soul, R&B, House, Jungle, Drum and Bass, and apply those drum beats, grooves, chords, bass lines, and melody to the format of modern jazz infused music. The result is always fresh as it morphs from high energy improvisation complete with rhythmic interplay and active spontaneous dialogue between the instrumentalists to what is at times a sound that borders on classic smooth jazz. In this video, we use similar instruments, Fender Rhodes Electric Piano, Guitar, Fretless Bass, and Drum Set, to explore these musical recipes and identify what core concepts we can apply to our own music productions and beat making.

This is incredible. You make every part so easy to understand and accessible to try ourselves. Thank you for making these.
As a jazz and r&b/soul musician and composer myself, this is amazing to watch man! Youâre making it simple for me and beginners to understand these complex chords
Jaron back at it again with another banger song, video, and lesson!!
Amazing production quality in this video!
30 seconds in and I love it.
This is amazing content, this kind of jazz music has always seemed to complex to me, but the way you break it down; i feel i can give it a go! Thanks
Amazing approach to contemporary jazz
If no one wants the extra credit Iâm here for it: the chord in question is an A M7 (rootless F# m9)! Thx for being such a dope teach, Jaron!!!
thanks for all this precious content
foist!
Amazing video Jaron!
Dude this is way cool. WOW. Thank you.
You have a gift man, thanks for continually sharing it with us on CZcams. Taking such complexity and communicating it in the accessible manner you do, that's powerful!
The truth is that it is not similar to yussef dayes vibe in my opinion but I really enjoy your content, thank you very much
I am always so interested in how you teach. Keep up the great work! This video rocks!
Whoa I just discovered this channel and you are totally underrated with this production quality, love how you explained chord voicing, especially described the 5th in that first chord as being the "harmonic cloud", it made me smile lol. Keep up the great songs + videos!!!!
So good! Thanks. Where can UI found those soft keyboard sounds? I'm using studio one.
masterclass đ„°
Gotta get more love and appreciation for that lick at 13:38 đ„ Great vid Jaron â
damn these videos just get better and better
The chord played on the guitar is a G#7 (G sharp dominant 7) chord. That is how I hear it. Let me know if that is correct even though I believe I am right.
Damn... I feel like I'm in music class but it's for FREE
where'd you get that blue jacket? also, this video is amazing :)
thanks, found the jacket at goodwill
A major7
Nailed it â
Wild that the scame you mention for the solo doesn't have a name. Maybe something like hexatonic minor? It lets someone play in the minor/sus space super well, not committing to dorian or aeolian without "making a statement"
After some searching, it looks like it might be a mode of the dominant sus scale (one I've never heard of).
Dominant Sus: 1-2-4-5-6-b7
Mode 4: 1-2-b3-4-5-b7
@@AgonalRhythmguitarist of many years here. You had it right the first time, this scale is commonly known as the hexatonic scale, and is common on the guitar.
It is the minor pentatonic with an added 2nd scale degree. Ben Eller has some great lessons on it, among many others, and this scale was also taught to me by 2 separate jazz guitar teachers I have had in the last 20 years.
9:44 Is that just an f sharp minor 9 rootless voicing lol
Yes, also A major 7
