- Exploring this small country town in Central Florida. Located in Polk County near LAKELAND, FLORIDA this little town is a sweet lil town hidden from mainstream view. Could be among the best places to retire in Florida for those content with a very slow pace of life.
I went to Frostproof today and it’s a very nice place to visit, not crowded at all just the way I like it.
Good ole frostproof. I graduated from Frostproof high school but I grew up next door in Babson Park lol. Fun fact Frostproof is where Abraham Shakespeare bought his $17 million winning lotto ticket before he was murdered.

Frostproof is a very peaceful and friendly town. I worked there for many years. They have a celebration every New Years day (maybe not this year because of COVID) on the main street where you were in front of the bank with activities, vendors and live country music. The town is on top of the white sandy "ridge" that runs north to south through central Florida which was ocean front property 130 thousand years ago. The deep white beach sand remaining is perfect for citrus groves and sand mines. The ridge also supports unique plant and animal life. I've never been bored there but you have to look at it for what it is and what it isn't. If you want to go back in time check it out!
My hometown, lots of nostalgic memories growing up here. Kinda wish I appreciated it more while I lived there. I now live in the city but how I enjoy coming back to visit my parents every so often. Good town for southern hospitality, fishing, and tranquility. Whenever I retire, coming back here is definitely my top choice.
Yet to be discovered!Frostproof actually declined in population in the 2020 census along with Fort Meade in an otherwise fast growing Polk County.Definitelybone of the more affordable areas in Florida.Frostproof is actually a nice charming lskeside community.

This the first real proof I've gotten on this town my grandma say we had relatives who moved there way before my time to pick oranges
Last time I was there in 1980 it was a much smaller town.
Frostproof is probably the more affordable communities in Florida,an undiscovered gem.

For those that want to see what Frostproof is about, visit in the summertime. Many northerners , have houses there so they can ' snowbird in the winter' . Check Craigslist for temporary rent to experience a taste of Frostproof. I think there is still a few motels down there, on the outskirts towards Avon Park, which is a slightly bigger town south of Frostproof.

You came during the off-season.. It's a whole lot different in the winter months. Check out Mister Chris Coffee Gallery & Depot @frostproofcoffee It's located in Frostproof's Historic Train Depot--ultra fresh coffee in an ultra cool venue. Wall Street is the center of town--You were standing there. During the season the Ramon Theater will have something going on nearly every Saturday night. The Coffee Depot will have entertainment or Karaoke Night at the Depot, you can take a Docent led historical downtown walking tour or tour the Frostproof Historical Museum that rivals big city museums, , have some of the very best ice cream ever at Frostbite on Scenic Highway and try out food cooked on a grill from the 20's at P & J's bar and grill. The Lake Reedy dock is a great place to watch the sunrise and Lake Clinch is best for sunsets.
So sad 3 murdered there a couple of days ago. Scary. Looks like a quiet town.

Not so peaceful in Polk Co if search Polk County Sheriff. Child pornography rings, gangs, drugs, killings, and the recent deaths. Plus I guess off grid encampment harboring criminals. Yes nice and quiet a perfect place to hide away.
I used to live in Frostproof! It's a nice Tropical Florida town and i would like to live there again sometime!

Wish I know you were going to be nearby. Would have taken you as a guest treking and fishing on the Avon Park Air Force Range. 86,000 acres of woods, ponds and creeks with Lake Arbuckle/Arbuckle Creek on one side and the Kissimmee River on the other.

Nice town but from my experience moving to a small it seemed to me that everyone grew up knowing each other and dont like outsiders in their small towns. Living in a big town or small city everyone is a transplant.

He forgot to mention the only red light in town at the time getting hit by a bomb mistakenly dropped by the Avon Park bombing range. And hwy 27 is locally known for a lot of deaths. Petty theft has always been a problem here too.

Looks like a town time forgot ☺️... But not for long... in a few years it won’t look like that and we won’t be able to afford the new homes I’m sure will soon be built up there...

You are showing most of the East part of town. West Frostproof is more rural and agricultural based. Unfortunately in the agricultural areas, there is more theft and other crimes people don't talk about.

@@tamastarczy6262 I suspect drugs are a culprit. People KNOW.. but they wont talk. There is NO WAY people dont know... they need to make that reward higher so someone who needs a months supply of drugs comes forward
