Love these conversations where you break down a piece of architecture. It really helps students like me understand the design. Good stuff!

I honestly don't know why these guys aren't huge!! I have watched countless boring architecture videos that have millions of views, but this little gem of a channel is the best-kept secret! SOOOO much information and inspiration - a great tool for any inspiring architect - fun, sexy even (sexy nerd/artists as hosts! who knew!) Thanks and hope you start getting millions of views

@@Archimarathon your content is very thoughtful, topics are good, people just don't want to think about it, they want to look at pretty pictures. You are probably just a bit ahead of your time with the "thoughtful stuff" maybe better as a TV show!

I see such a deep and tender wisdom in this design. (And there is a charming mimicry in it of the little origami swan here on my table). It is a delicate palette, like a Moholy Nagy painting. A green yawn opens to the denizens.. Neutral, tight, native. Boldly cleaved by the striking geometric blacks of the recessed shadows, intelligently punctuated by ornate junctions - the way a jeweller might elegantly resolve a clasp. In one instant I see the shapes of John Hejduk's sketchy conceptual works, and in the next the uncanny resemblance of a Chinese landscape painting. How beautiful are the cascading window openings which tumble out of the overflows. The drawings must be exquisite. Makes me wanna cut and paste...

One of my favourite Taglietti/Canberra buildings. If you are still about - at least drive by Giralang Primary School and Flynn Primary School (two of his finest schools). They are both close to Latham Primary (which you pictured). A couple of townhouses but him sold recently in Holt, too (more pedestrian, but still have his ‘stamp’)
He also designed a wonderful ‘nightclub’ called the James Cook hotel which was demolished in 1980 which was nice - hard to find pictures of, though.

archimarathon briefly introduced this building & architect in the other Canberra video ...
after that I listen to his interviews ...
he says that *wonder* is what he was after in his buildings ... strong emotional response
that he has definitely delivered on ...
he left post war Italy bcos he felt that it was too restrictive due to historical "baggage" ...
he loved Canberra bcos it was open to the "new" ...since it was just born
"to discover new worlds, one must be willing to lose sight of the shore" ... can't remember which mariner said that ...
