A drone captured this incredible, dramatic video of the Iceland volcano eruption that has destroyed several homes in Grindavik.

The eruption on Dec 18th just north of this location was 2.5 miles long (this one about 0.6miles). Pretty incredible that the earth can unzip!

The island is volcanic. Unlikely.
My wife and I were there for the eruption, just happened to line up for our trip there. We heard the locals saying this is the start of a likely 180-200 year-long seismic and volcanic activity in the region, followed by 800 or so years of dormancy. Beautiful country and we feel for the residents of Grindavik, the housing shortage and relocation efforts are staggering.
