  • If you are considering PPF (Paint Protection Film) but unsure exactly what to expect from the installation, then hopefully this video will help manage your expectations.
    Let's get up close and right into the nitty-gritty details of the PPF installation and discover exactly how much coverage can be expected, whether there are any areas that are impossible to cover, and the tricks that PPF installers use to manipulate the PPF into some of the most challenging areas.
    Finding a real-life PPF installation to preview can be a challenge and Its not always possible to see a PPF installation on an actual vehicle ahead of time, Hopefully, this in-depth look will be the next best thing to help you decide on whether Paint Protection Film is right for your pride and joy

    I'd highly recommend JDW for PPF installations and all your car detailing needs. Jordan is a pleasure to deal with and the perfectionist you want working on your vehicle.

    Very detailed! I'm going to have my brooklyn grey m240 ppf'ed with Xpel stealth in a few days, but my shop seems to be saying they'll be able to edge wrap quite a bit.
    The satin finish on your taycan looks immaculate 👌🏻.

      I visited 3 or 4 shops prior to settling on one. Each had slightly different variations on the installation process. I’m very pleased with how mine turned out.
      For what it’s worth my guy did warn me off having the likes of a fuel cap edge-wrapped. It’s possible and will look great initially but is more likely to fail in time.
      To be honest, it’s surprising how discreet any non-wrapped edges are against the satin. You can barely see them.
      I think you’ll be very happy with the results 😁

    I'm having the same dilemma of expectations for my C8 and nobody in the forums even responded to my questions.
    Did your installer use default XPEL "extended edge" (meaning they stop at the edge, not wrapping around except where it's doable without panel removal such as at the door) templates? Or did they make any custom modifications to those default templates?

    • @matthewmakingmemories
      @matthewmakingmemories  Před rokem +1

      All the above pretty much… there was no panel or trim removal necessary. All edges were wrapped where “possible” (this generally means panels such as doors, bonnet, boot lids. Any piece of bodywork where the installer can easily access the backside edges)
      Custom modifications were also made where necessary/possible to ensure a tighter fit or larger edge wrap. Or to reduce the cut aways/reveals at the corners where the film can not be wrapped.
      I get the impression that any installer worth their money will make some slight modifications to the templates.
      With Factory GLOSS PPF direct from Porsche for example, they don’t make any attempts to wrap any edges. However an aftermarket installer will still wrap edges where possible. You can also appreciate how that with GLOSS any edges are far less visible compared to STEALTH anyway.
      If you find the right installer I think you’ll be surprised how good the end result can be and will have no regrets.
      I have a very keen eye to detail and my stealth definitely passes with flying colours. Very pleased with it

    Great video!
    Ive personally been thinking of getting the xpel stealth ppf on my new car.(white)
    I was wondering, after 6 months (or however long youve had this installed) on the condition of the film? Has there been any yellowing, shrinking etc that ive read on a few other ppf review videos.
    Thanks!

      I’d highly recommend it. Had the Xpel Stealth on for around 7 months now and it’s as good as the day it was installed. Not one issue.
      Had two small edges lift after a couple of days but my installer is excellent and rectified them instantly. It’s been faultless ever since. I’d have it again without any hesitation

    How is it like to clean? Do you have to use any special products? Also, does it get dirty really fast?

    • @matthewmakingmemories
      @matthewmakingmemories  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It’s a dream to clean! I would attribute a lot of that to the ceramic coating on the PPF. Water beads off which must help with it keeping clean for a little longer.
      I’m very happy with it ☺️

      I'm about 11 months into ownership now and I can confirm that the PPF has survived the winter very very well. I would be very hard-pressed to find any deterioration at all. I'll be sure to take a closer look and decide if anything is even video worthy.

      It's Volcano Grey Metallic. With the Xpel Stealth in some lights I'm surprised how black it can look sometimes. Which is no bad thing. Strong Batmobile vibes and then in sunlight a much lighter grey sheen
