This radio is for all those who already have everything and do not bother to spend money on a radio that is promising a lot but keeps a lot less.

Thanks for the good demo, I’ve had mine for a month now and I’ve found it to be a good performer, you are correct about the ATU, you do need to adjust the setting to 1:1. I’d like to find a suitable lightweight headset, the phone socket on the front panel does AF out and In also PTT. I’ve had no luck in finding a suitable mic connector/adaptor, the one fitted seems to be smaller than standard, if anyone has any suggestions that would be useful.
We have set up a Facebook group which is starting to get some useful discussions.

You might be able to change the colours of the display by accessing the factory setup menu. On the Q900 this is done by going into settings, press and hold the PA button and you will be asked to enter a password, which is 200510. Here you will find the same setup as you get with the MCHF/RS918 HF SDR transceiver, which isn’t too surprising as it’s using a forked version of the original M0NKS OpenSource UHSDR project firmware. Talking of the factory setup menu, it has been my experience with the Q900 radios (V1 to V4) that the values for the options were input with the use of a random number generator. The biggest problem I found was the settings for the PA Configuration. The output of the radio is full of harmonics and spurs, especially on VHF and UHF, as no thought was put into setting up the PA Bias, PA PreBias, and the individual band power settings. If you’re familiar with setting up the MCHF transceiver the method for the Q900/171 is similar. Just like the multitude of MCHF clones out there this radio isn’t really fit for purpose out of the box, and if you don’t want to receive a station close down request from your relevant radio authority I would recommend spending some time ensuring that your transmitted signal is as clean as possible.

200510 in v4 only gives you an error message. I had no idea that there is a link between this guohe thing and the mchf radio. At the time I had built more than one mchf with parts from the uk amateur.

Hi Paul. It's resolved the low power menu (PA option) distortion in the modulation? This happens on q900 and some user from this version in our Whatsapp group. You tried if with 13.8v have distortion at 40m or other bands with hi power? For me, the size of q900 was more interesting for sota and expedition. I think it's the same model in other box.

Auto-L and Auto-R in CW probably changes from left hand and right hand paddle operation. Looks to have a stingy s-meter. Also needs markers on the spectrum scope. Did you buy this rig or did you get one for review?

I think I will wait until version 2. Maybe more stable, the step button, get rid of TNC connector, USB reposition, maybe duplicate antenna inputs in the back (covered by battery when not in use) so it's neater if using as a base station or mobile rather than manportable or POTA. Thank you for the review!

This radio is not cheap for what you are getting; without any kind of obtainable warranty. Roll of a dice, about $1300 USD.
It also has a pretty small screen; but maybe it's worth the gamble like I took with my Xiegu X6100, but I spent half the price for that radio, bigger screen and a lot more portable. 🙏

Who supports this radio if warranty work is needed ? Is a service manual available ?
I avoid costly Chinese radios like the plague because the manufacturer has no representation outside of China. B
