    Apple should give at least 90Hz refresh rate to Air models (iphone, ipad, macs), let 60Hz for regulars, 120 (should be 140Hz) to pro models to justify the price tags. Thats why I never bought Aitlr models 😢

  • @carusoaugusto
    @carusoaugusto Před 24 dny +2

    I still wish that we didn’t have to choose between touchID and faceID, just add both to same product. Also, the Magic Keyboard in its current form factor doesn’t offer a seamless transition from laptop mode to tablet mode and vice-versa. You have to detach the iPad in order to use it as a tablet, and then it has no protection and the camera bump is a bit of a annoyance if you’re using it on a flat surface. It’s not that this isn’t a major upgrade, but they should have solved all the rough edges at this point.
    Other than that, the hardware on the iPad has had massive unused power for a while. Now more than ever. I’m hoping the next WWDC will deliver a version of iPadOS that will finally turn the iPad into the laptop replacement it can and should be.

    Scott (or anyone else) please explain to me this: I have an iPad, which I use a lot for 3D modeling and illustration. But I also have a MacBook because I need it to use apps that don't have an iPadOS counterpart (apps like Lightburn, PrusaSlicer, and some Arduino and Raspberry Pi mini apps). The question is, I thought Apple was going to eliminate the differences by making iPadOS apps run on MacOS with no issues. But the reverse is what I need. I need to run MacOS apps on iPadOS. Why hasn't this happened yet? Are they just trying to protect their MacBook sales or is this something that developers are responsible for?

    • @martaanna9185
      @martaanna9185 Před 24 dny

      I guess it is all because that on Mac you have full programs but on iPad you have a totally different system with apps. It is like you would like to use android apps on windows. (Which you can sligthly do - Windows had prepared special enviroment for them). But it is not the same. IPad os is very cut and limited version of OS. They are trying to cover it with cool apps. More professional apps (zbrush is coming to ipad). However with M4 the ipad is too overpowered for the operating system that is on it. And as border between programs and apps is getting thinner people are forgetting that apps are not the programs. In some sense.

      Apple never said macOS apps will come to the iPad. Quite the contrary; an interview this week they reiterated that it is not happening and there is no roadmap for it to ever happen. There are many reasons, too many to list, but devs are the main problem. Apple allowed iPad apps on Macs but devs either said no or mostly refuse to refine them, so iPad apps on a Mac suck. No way Apple wants this experience on the iPad. Just look at Windows 8 and MS effort to do what you ask. It cost them billions and they became irrelevant in the tablet market. Now they have abandoned Android subsystem on Windows as again no dev support. You are a niche demographic that make a lot of noise but the reality is as Apple succinctly said in their interview; iPads are complimentary, why would they compete against their own products in two extremely competitive low-margin markets?

    It's called product diversification. What is the point of having a Macbook Air and an iPad running Mac OS. It will create the same scenario as the Mac Pro and the Mac Studio. Why spend the money on a Mac Pro with it's up-gradable architecture that Apple will not let you fully utilize when you can have a just as capable Mac Studio which is cheaper. Either the Mac Pro or the Mac Studio needs to disappear (it will likely be the Mac Pro ... it always seems that Apple hates the Mac Pro ... the main reason I switched to PCs in 2015). Replacing the MacBook Air with the iPad Pro will tick off those that want the MacBook Air. It will also anger those that hate Mac OS, but love the iPad (I am in that camp). Maybe what needs to happen is a better cross development system between the Mac Apps and the iPad apps, and maybe some advancement of the iPad OS so that it feels like an iPad, but has more of the directory structure and features of Mac OS .... Otherwise good luck with that because no matter what Apple does someone is going to advocate for the option Apple abandons.

    Just say you want a Surface Pro. You want a tablet with a full OS. Get a Surface Pro. While they’ve cannibalized features from one to another in the past, Apple doesn’t have a legitimate incentive to put MacOS into an iPad.
    The iPad does Final Cut and Logic Pro without MacOS. What more do you want?

    Apple is a publicly traded company that answers to their shareholders. They're not stupid to allow iPads running MacOS to cannibalize their Macbook sales.
    Apple makes more money from selling 2 devices aimed at two different target audiences instead of selling 1 device that combines what a Macbook can do with what an iPad can do.
    iPads STILL can't replace a laptop/desktop. 🤣🤣🤣

  • @oxthemoron
    @oxthemoron Před 24 dny +1

    It’s not about the iPad running Mac OS full time. It’s about having the option to flip into Mac OS when necessary or when docked and then flip back to iPadOS for 95% of computing needs.
    iPad OS should be sandboxed to run enterprise BYOD applications (outlook / M365). Apple will need to consider that.
    Gives you a fully featured Mac and docked desktop with 5G connectivity and 7-10 hours of battery. Take my money.
    They now have four years and a reasonable amount of iPad Pros out that they can release the Mac OS option only on M1+ devices. The rest run iPadOS full time. This makes sense and makes their pricing line up nicely.
    MacBook Air is $799. iPad Air+Magic Keyboard is $999. Their pricing lines up very nicely across models.

      I can only ever see Apple allowing a Virtual Machine macOS to run on an iPad. That means you will need to already have a Mac and therefore it won't have a disastrous affect on MacBook sales.

    Hey, listen, your mom needs a new iPad with a bigger storage capacity of 2TB, along with a pen and keyboard. You already suggested that she should buy an iPad 10gen which costs around $300, but why don't you just give her the one you have? You're her son, and it's your responsibility to take care of her needs. If you have an iPad Pro, give it to her, or if you have any spare iPads, it's better to give them to her instead of buying a new one. iPads are mainly used for entertainment purposes like watching movies, playing games, going online, or drawing, so investing in a better screen is important. My mother is 88, and I got her an iPad Pro, and she loves it. She said she can see it better than the old 10gen iPad.

    Mac OS in the traditional sense will not make its way to iPad. ☹️BUT Mac OS has reached its end of life roadmap and we know that Apple is notorious for working on multiple platforms / interfaces at one time, while only offering one version from each subgroup; iPad OS, etc. for the actual product line. After living with the Vision Pro my suspicions were confirmed. Vision OS UX is great and isn’t half baked, it’s waiting on an announcement... to be unlocked…
    Mark my words that either this WWDC or next year that Mac OS and all iOS will be retired… and a new platform will emerge. I predict it will be a responsive interface that is the same on all devices, but pending on device, use and accessories… certain features will be enabled / disabled. EX: iPad- full functionality only works when docked etc. There have been so many breadcrumbs over the past couple years… and now that apps can run across all devices if developed to do so… it’s begging to happen. What will they call it though? If it does indeed happen? 🤔
    Apple UX, Apple OS, “Vision OS” ?

  • @wynzavian2000

    Everyone keeps talking about Apple not going to be stupid and put MacOs on Ipad. (It will cannibalize the Mac sale) Well how much better can you make a Ipad? Laptops get discrete graphics updates & CPU chips. When there is no new gpu or cpu upgrade they mess with the screen to justify the price. We went from pro motion - to mini led to Oled. Ipad sells had already took a hit prior to those screen upgrades. They don't even sell the previous pro models once they announce the new pro ipads. They are slowing down the upgrades on the lower model iPad, to get the most out of the pro lineup. We got a New iPad air with pro motion but the Ipad pros had pro motion since 2017. I think they least should develop IPADOS to its own MACOS system, because people are not going to upgrade based on a chip at the price they are asking.

Yet when the iPad is reviewed they ignore rival tablets. I feel this has to do with agenda-driven algorithms that make more money by being negative on Apple whilst not upsetting Android or Windows OEMs where these creators make money from the plethora of sponsorship.
