    Wow...lots of great tips in this video. !! 😍👍👍
    1:39 That's a good tip , with the Milk Crates...I will try that out. I am a bit of an Organizational freak..lol
    I like that they can be used also for a camp seat or small table top when stacked, near the campfire. LOL 😂👍
    3:54 ...excellent idea with the (reusable) cake ring...lol ...dang, i never thought of that, either..I usually use , hvy duty tin foil cut pans from the dollar store.
    5:57 ... ♨ I like also to play with my flint and steel set...and the kids love the ferro rod with the knife...for our tinder kit , we usually go for scout walks around the camp area, and find dead birch trees, pine trees for the resin, and dead cedar trees...but in our kit, I love my DIY FIRE PUTTY which is shredded up cotton balls and liquid lamp oil/ candle wax poured in it....never fails to make a fire in wet , and cold conditions. The Grandkids love the DIY FIRE PUCKs i make...(cotton make up pads dipped in melted bees wax)
    13:11 ... I love cooking with BarBq peat blocks or briquettes and smoked maple chips for flavoring. I always have a few of them in my camp kit ....sometimes I will just boil water under 4 of them or warm up a stew for lunch and toast up a meat ball sandwich.

    Thank you so much! I've never cooked in a dutch oven. I want to make soup for our upcoming 8 day trip. Gonna give it a try!

    I'm going to try the milk crates for my kitchen gear on the next trip. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

    I have been camping for about 20 years....so I know a few things about camping as well. BUT....in life, you can never stop learning! And this is why I love watching your videos!!! Right off the bat, at the beginning of this video, I learned something....I need to pack kitchen gear in milk crates! I had it backwards...all of my kitchen gear in a tote and can goods/dry storage in milk crates! Thank you for the tip!! And I love the idea of using those milk crates in the camp kitchen as shelves. Thank you sir!! Happy camping!

      I’m glad to hear it was helpful. I didn’t mention it, but we also pack our food in mi,l crates. And our crates are the first thing we pack for a trip. Usually, we pack our tent, kitchen tent, chairs and roll top table on top of the crates. Always great to hear from you.

      We are taking fewer trips now but still try to get out a few times every year. Mainly in the southeast. Would love to meet you if you ever camp in this area. Thanks for watching and posting this note.

      @@moderntentcamping it has! We are expecting 75° weather this weekend with intermittent rain. I’m going to be detailing the inside of my truck and getting it packed up with camping gear for the summer. Hopefully doing some camping next weekend if the weather cooperates. I’m super excited. Having my first bonfire of the season tomorrow night.

    Funny thing, with all the camping trips I did last year (over a dozen), not once did I cook over an actual campfire. 😂. Ok, maybe once, but it was a steak, foil wrapped baked potatoes, and baked beans. I have a difficult time working over a low fire these days. I used to be a master “corn bread over the campfire” chef using my grandpa’s cast iron oven.

    • @moderntentcamping
      @moderntentcamping  Před rokem +1

      If you are biking, you may want to spend time doing other things besides gathering dry wood and building a good fire. But you’ll need to cook another batch of that cornbread. I really enjoy campfire cooking and look forward to doing it again. Thanks for the note Mendy.

      @@moderntentcamping I’m experimenting with small twig stoves to cook with when bike packing for the ambiance, but it still takes time to gather and it doesn’t last long. Even when car camping, I tend to be on the trails until dusk, so gas stove cooking works better for me. But I do like a good campfire at night to stare into and meditate without the stress of it being how I need to cook my meal. S’Mores are my campfire “meals”. More of a treat to myself rather than a meal.

      I hope you can find one quickly. Sometimes you have to visit several antique stores before you find a good one. But they always show up when you don’t need one. If you can’t find one locally, check eBay. It’s good to hear from you again.

    Great tips as always Frazier. Milk crates are a must. I like the idea you have of using the cake ring for a Dutch oven that doesn't have a lip. I have used tinfoil before but your idea is much better.
