I have just followed your instructions to splice thimbles into a couple of 6mm double braided polyester lines. As a first timer it was one hell of a fight! !! Blisters are on the horizon :D . Thank you for easy to follow video. Luckily I have a smattering of Afrikaans which helped.

The size of the needle is depending on the type of rope. Which size do you want to splice?

What is the load capacity ?

That depends on the breaking load of the rope used. Typically, when the splice is done correctly, you can take off around 10% of the breaking load of the rope (with knots, this is about 50%)

nou is deze lijn niet erg geschikt als landvast, er zit namelijk nagenoeg geen rek in, daarvoor kun je beter een geslagen lijn nemen.

Así pierdes hasta un 10 por ciento de la resistencia a la rotura.
El ojo no se moverá bajo tensión.
La costura es contra el desplazamiento cuando no hay tensión.
