LEGENDS -- Made a capella cool (before the internet) for an entire generation of Carmen Sandigo kids. I was so happy to find this album and am even happier to find this recording now.
This is my favorite lineup too. I loved the feeling Kevin brought to all his songs. I never got to see this lineup live though. By the time I got a chance to see them, Barry had quit and George was their bass. I agree on the nice, funny description of them. At my first concert at my university we went to eat at the Frische's just down the road. There were some young men who had made a Rockapella sign out of a placemat. There was a large group at another table and one lady came over and asked if they were going to the concert, and then introduced herself as Scott's mom. The other members of the group wre family members. Scott's mom was just as nice as her son is. She said she always tried to attend any concert they did in Indiana. When I saw them the first time, they were at my university and I didn't know about the meet and greet, so after the show we went downstairs to get our coats from my locker. My husband went to the restroom and i went to the water fountain. I turned around and Eliot was standing there outside the dressing room. I talked to him and he made sure all the guys came out and spoke to me and gave me their autographs. I talked to Scott about the music program and the fact that I had lived not too far from where he grew up. The next time was about a year later. Eliot had torn up his knee playing basketball and so they incorporated his crutches into the choreography. I almost got chosen as the Pretty Woman. Kevin was going thru the audience on a previous song and came up behind me and we playing with the braid down my back At the meet and greet they were sitting at a table signing autographs and the venue manager was trying to rush people thru. Scott was at the end of the table and he remembered me and pulled me to the side so he could talk to me more. The last time I saw them Eliot had also left and John had joined. It was also at my university, and we had front row seats. This was when I heard California Sad Eyed Girl and fell in love with it. At the meet and greet I got to talk to them all, get my picture taken with them. Jeff was fascinated with my camera because it used a double flash to keep you from closing your eyes. They stayed and talked to us long after the other audience members left, especially Scott, Kevin and Jeff. I was joking with Scott about how you could tell the era of the videos by "The ever changing hair style of Scott Leonard" I had tickets to one more concert of theirs, but my work had a mandatory meeting that I had to attend, so I had to give up my tickets. That was right before Kevin left. I must say that I like the more casual style that they have at this concert and the first two I attended. Scott has opted to make everything more slick and choreographed and it has lost some of the charm. I was disappointed that they didn't put out at new album until after Kevin left the group, his rendition of CSEG was much better than what they put on the album. I wish they would have done like they did with Smilin' and put some tracks with Kevin and some with the new guy (I think it was Steve?)
Rockapella most summers plays with the Boston Pops, they always bring this song out, and the pops plays Pachabel's Canon in the background. It's actually quite beautiful
Scott Leonard just released his arrangement for this song , I bought it wed. night dec the 3rd 2008 at their concert in Easton Md. and , it's a singable arrangement. Keep them coming Scott ! CSEG next !
i understand what a key change is. if you listen at 0:40 and 2:49 though, you can hear a distinct difference in the pitch of the tonic, which isn't the case in the cd recording. this slight change happens after they modulate back to the original key after the bridge. desiafroboy is right that it doesn't really matter as long as they go down together. i just thought fluctuating in pitch was something amateur groups struggled with, not a group like rockapella.
I think what I was driving at was they've added to many licks and runs into it. I'm partial to this linup over the newer one. I really don't like John, I feel he tries too hard to dominate songs. George is nice though. He's no Barry, but he's nice.

I listen to this song at least once a day as well. :) Their Folgers commercial is also very awesome. One of my favorites.

They've added a lot more licks and runs with the new lineup.
Pachelbel's Canon is originally in D Major, not CM or Em.

they do it on purpose they change key not change pitch and it is supposed to be like that!!
It doesn't sound flat there to me.
