HOW EXCITED ARE YOU!? Finally a perfect setup of APS-C lenses from Sigma for the Canon EOS R7, Canon EOS R10, Canon EOS R50 and Canon EOS R100 and we finally get the f/2.8 vlogging lens!
Sigma has announced it will be offering six of its DC DN APS-C lenses for Canon's RF mount, making it one of the first third-party manufacturers to sell autofocus RF lenses under license.
The DC DN 18-50mm F2.8 fast standard zoom will be available from July 2024, offering a 29-80mm equivalent range on Canon's 1.6x crop APS-C bodies.
This will be followed, later in the year, by the DC DN 10-18mm F2.8 fast wide-angle zoom, giving 16-29mm equivalent coverage.
The company's four F1.4 primes will follow on from this, giving EOS R100, R50, R10 and R7 users a choice of 16mm, 23mm, 30mm and 56mm lenses that give 26mm, 37mm, 48mm and 90mm equivalent focal lengths.
The lenses, all part of the company's Contemporary series of mid-priced lenses, are already available for Leica L, Fujifilm X and Sony E mounts, with three of the four primes also available for Micro Four Thirds and Nikon Z mount.
With the lenses being made under a license from Canon, Sigma says it's been able to optimize the AF speed and support features such as image stabilization and lens aberration correction. The news coincides with Tamron also launching a licensed RF-mount APS-C lens.
No details of pricing have been provided.

The 1.4 trio on the M mount were fantastic. I'm sure these will be just as well made and have great image quality.

The sigma 56mm is an astonishing lens. Alternatively the 30mm. Now combining that with the R7 and you have a great beginner setup for filmmaking 🎬

@@DonJames_ Yeah, same here. I think they’re C lenses for the sake of keeping the price and size reasonable. If they’d be ART lenses, the 18-50mm f/2.8 would cost a liver, a kidney and mom’s woodshed.
Is there any information on the 85mm RF lens from Sigma?
None for Canon 😕 These are APS-C lenses, so the 56mm f/1.4 is equivalent of 85mm on fullframe.

@@FixerofEverything Hi! First of all, welcome to the craft, yoooou are about to have a lot of fun and eventually spend a lot of money 👍🏻
The best lens for this kind of shooting depends sooo much on your distance from the subject. If you can get to the trackside, like super close, even a 50mm will do fine, and for some dirt bike races even a 24mm will do. But if you are shooting from a distance, you need to up your game and go for a 100-400mm or even 100-500mm. Or atleast a 70-200 to get the reach.
Finally for is total perfect only wait to July nice 🎉🎉🎉!!!
I will most definitely test each and every lens with the R7!

No ART lenses yet. But this is a good opening that fills the void Canon has left unfilled.

When are the Sigma RF DG Art lenses coming? I want the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN II Art on my R8. I bought 2 R10 for my kids and traded both in for R8 with RF50mm f1.8 because I couldn't find a 30mm APS-C prime lens that has a decent price, image quality, aperture and weight. The RF28mm f2.8 was the closest, but the aperture is way too small at f4.5 full-frame equivalent. Sigma APS-C lenses came many months too late.
The ART lenses most likely will not be coming to RF mount in near future. I have tried to ask that from Sigma represantives, but theres no info on that 😕
APS-C lenses are coming, 18-50 and 10-18 by july and prime lenses 16, 23, 30 and 56mm later this year.

i was 99.5 close to trading my r7 in - i wonder if the 18-35 art lens from sigma is still going to be worth to have? i have it and love it but wouldn't mind to trade it in for the 18-50 new rf mount.... what do you think the pricing will be ?
Same as e-mount version
It is still going to be worth having, but the 18-50mm will be lighter and smaller. It is not as fast, but it has got that extra reach. I don’t know anything about the pricing yet, the Sony version is around $600 here in Finland, and because this is an RF mount version, I think it will be bit more expensive.
Maybe they will have a mount conversion service for 18-35 art lens to RF mount later this year after the release of RF mount lenses
Will these lenses be able to be used on the Canon R6ii?
Yes, in crop mode. With fullframe there will be heavy vignetting as these are designed for crop sensor cameras.

These types of lenses are sorely overdue and awesome that it’s finally officially happening, but I’m still looking forward to that patented RF-S 15-60mm F2.8 IS USM Z! Fingers crossed that THAT’s the rumored new RFS lens this year.
That would be great allarounder, but we got to be happy with the 18-50mm f/2.8 we just got ❤️ If I could wish, I’d love to have the 150-600mm and maybe an updated version of the 50-150mm f/2.8. Think about it, we’d have 10-18mm, 18-50mm, 50-150mm and 150-600mm for crop sensor!

I heard that the 18-50mm price will be around 549 USD. So it will definitely not cost an arm and a leg if that is the case.
Yeah, the price of the E-mount version is around that, but RF-version might cost a bit more as Sigma has to pay to Canon a certain fee for that RF-mount. But let’s hope the price will stay reasonable 👍🏻
Honestly Sigma not having R lenses is the only reason I don't have R6 or R5 right now and these releases make the RF-S cameras a viable option when I wouldn't have even considered them before. Either make mid rage lenses or let others do it Canon.
Same. The R6 mk II paired with ART series Sigma lenses would be a killer, but Canon won’t allow Sigma to release any lenses that compete with Canon’s own lenses, atleast for now 😕

I don’t think it is happening 😞 They would have announced it here, but I don’t think Sigma got the permission to create ART lenses for RF, and it overlaps the 18-50mm f/2.8.

It’s a start. The biggest appeal of a high res crop sensor camera is wildlife photography and none of these lenses fit that genre.
I was truly hoping for sigma to release the 150-600 also but I guess we have to wait on that.

only APS-C lenses are allowed. Canon lets third-party manufacturers do the work that they themselves don't want to do
So it's all just fake and no real opening for third party manufacturers
It is a good thing that they allow Sigma fill in the void they couldn’t deal with themselves. And it was never meant to be a real opening, as Canon still strictly controls who gets ti do and what with the RF mount.
But it is a start.

18-50mm will be a solid choice! And those fixed lenses, 23mm and 56mm are just amazing for street photos and filmmaking!
