  • Author, academic, multi-hyphenate artist, advocate, and activist Miriam King explores the irony of the artistic "process" is that the result of a brilliantly created work is assumed to be grounded in deep thought, awareness, attention to, and study of history, environment, behavior, cultural norms, etc. But, what if for a moment- we trusted ourselves enough to suspend our systems; to dismiss every appropriate or traditional approach to the craft, and allow ourselves to be "wrong"? To be brave? To be different?
To become exonerated is to become vulnerable (to the end of child-like innocence again); to become fully curious is to feel through the "pain" of not having a planned or timed outcome.
The work towards UNconscious Creativity focuses on the person more than the process, and then the process more than the product. This begins in an unexpected place- forgiveness. During the experience of this talk, we'll draw a line as a boundary between our "gathered truths" and our new reality when we accept that the ashes are as innumerable and necessary as our grains of sand.
