Ustad Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari is great Tabla Maestro has his own unique style of playing , very melodious and enthusiastic experience to listen to him. In Pune had opportunity to listen him live at Taal Chakra musical event few years back, it was mesmerizing. Also he is very jovial person.
So glad that i was among the audiance while this performance was on at Harivallabh sangeet sammelan :) wow...lucky to be there every year since many years.

Thank you very much. Japan is the only country/culture I know much of besides my own. I always like learning though.
He is explaining the origin on each composition he is reciting, from which Ustad (Master / Guru / Teacher) the composition was composed to the region it came from and the methodology behind the structure of that composition. He is pulling on his ear as he says the name of the Ustad as a sign of respect for the Ustad who is much wiser and blessed the knowledge, it is not because he is saying listen up to the audience but I can see why you think that not understanding the culture and language.

Manish Ji, what makes you say that? Pinky Ji is Sikh. Pandit Ji is given to masters of Hindu origin, and Ustad is given to masters of Islamic or Sikh origin.
