RAAG BASANT - Rubab, by the inimitable Ustad Homayoun Sakhi - with Ustad Sukhvinder Singh "Pinky"

The Music Room at Friend's Hearth کاشانۀ اخلاص was honoured to have two of the musical mavens,
Ustad Homayoun Sakhi and Ustad Sukhvinder Singh "Pinky" as special guests on 23 January 2022.
They met for the first time and created magic on stage, leaving the audience spellbound and mesmerised.
First item was the above Raag Basant, an original composition of Ustad Homayoun Sakhi himself.
That was followed by a composition of the late Ustad Mohammad Omar in Raag Todi.
After the interval, Homayoun played a couple of famous songs of the late Ustad Sarahang, concluding with the famous composition of the late Ustad M. Omar.
Both masters received warm standing ovation for their amazing performance at the end of the progrmme.

I discovered Homayoun Sakhi's playing a decade or so ago. He sparked an interest and fascination wirth Afghani music. He is a true master!

Interesting, sounds like the Afghani version of Raag Basant doesn't have the occasional shuddh madhyam
