Just a heads up i see a lot of comments questioning the picture in picture format, i had to do this so CZcams didnt flag it and take it down. I had posted it a few years ago and it got pulled. Thanks :)
As far as I am concerned he is the most interesting singer and fun to watch ever its just sad that we have lost a very talented man his name will never be forgotten and his music will live on
I was fortunate enough to meet the mighty Marty Robbins about forty years ago in Hampton Virginia. I was a young reporter backstage at a concert where Billy "Crash" Craddock was the main attraction. Marty was one of the warm up acts, and was sitting alone in a beat-up old makeup room. He was a quiet man, but made time to speak with me. And then, about twenty minutes later he took the stage and it was like someone had hooked the man up to electrical current. He came alive -- performing songs that literally brought the crowd to its feet. What a treat to see such a magnificent songwriter, musician and performer. Crash Craddock, by the way, couldn't hold a candle to the great Marty Robbins. Watching this brought back many good memories of meeting a man who was the genuine article and truly great artist.
He was named the 1960s Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music. Been gone since '82, just broke us up back then hearing he did not recover w/the heart operation. --- Him doing this super concert, enjoying life to its fullest, (I'll have what he has been having) being silly at times, burning the last ounce of fat in which he shouldn't spare to help fill that suit. --- Back in the day when he broke out "El Paso" , I couldn't play it often enough, I was having my first serious Hi-Sch love affair. Navy Vet of WWII in the S. Pacific. Thanks Marty, for the mems. 031623.
