Thank you so much. Once again you made my life so easy.
    Changed the final drive oil.
By the way, I am the guy that asked you about the "Death wobble" on my '14 FJR1300.
change the steering bearings to tapered and what a difference. JFYI

Can't wait to do these on my FJR next time. I allowed the first 600 mile service to be done at the dealer.
Now I want to change the oil, differential oil, and filter by myself. Thx to these wonderful videos.
    Thank you TWO!

Thank You !!!!....The dealer sells a specific gear lube for the FJR..its 23.00 a quart....A little pricey but you are putting 145 Hp to the final drive, so dont skimp !!!

NEVER remove a drain plug first.
Make sure the fill plug loosens first, otherwise you can't fill it of the fill is seized.

@@TwoWheelObsession it's good practice. If you are showing people how to do their first fluid change, who knows who worked on their bike previously. I've seen people take car/truck drain plugs out 1st and get fubar'd because the fill won't come out.

use a children's medicine syringe to fill the drive shaft oil no mess and small amounts added to the last drop.

I'm new to the shaft drive and just bought an 06 FJR. How warm does the final drive get? Mine was pretty warm after about a 40 minute ride. I'm planning to do the final drive oil change soon but wasn't sure if anyone has had the same question?

Just found your videos, are you aware of anyone doing similar videos for the Super Teneré? So far yours are the best I've seen. I currently ride a Strat Dlx, am deciding between the FJR & the Super Ten, ease of service will be a factor. Thanks

Thanks for adding the crush washer direction. Thought I missed it and this help me greatly.
Question about the crush washers - Are the all the same size (Oil drain bolt and the two Final drive bolts)? If the are, I could buy a bunch and not have to worry. Thanks in advance.

    Hey TWO,
When changing your shaft drive, do you have to ride the bike to get the shaft oil warm before you do the change or is it OK to change when cold.?
    Thx!

Would it be suggested to check the ounces you remove and compare to the amount to fill?
This way you can determine if you are losing drive fluid somewhere.

The flat surface of the washer goes against the bike. When you tighten the bolt it crushes the grooved side creating a gasket.

For those that need it, I used Yamalube Shaft Drive Oil Exclusive Lubricant exclusively for FJR1300 and VMAX 1700 motorcycles. Part: ACC-SHFTD-EX-00, it was $22 at my Yamaha dealer but lasts several changes. Link:

Ok your video was good but I think that you should inform people what they should be looking at. For example the magnetic plug is not just to collect metal. You should be looking at those shavings for chunks that will tell you if there is a problem with the internals of the drive dust is normal. Chunks are bad

Does the oil drain plug and the gear oil drain plug take the same size crush washer?
