    In the annals of first scenarios, the venerable bug hunt stands proud.
    Gandalf says draw three cards. Talk about a mechanic that was baked into the underlying system early.
    I like the interaction/combat. Exhausted because they committed but then readied yet still committed. My head spins.

    First time you used Gandalf, you put him to your hand. That's not according the rules. Gandalf has to go discarted, not back to your hand. That's crucial because now you couldn't do the combo with sneak attack...

    @PickleTheHutt Před 2 lety +3

    Some rules issues:
    1.) A player commits all characters to the quest simultaneously (even if the actual rotating of cards is done in some order). This means both Aragorn and Theodred's responses happen at the same time. Thus, you can choose which to trigger first. So, Theodred can give Aragorn the resource first and then Aragorn uses that resource to ready (i.e. Aragorn doesn't need to have the resource before questing). In multiplayer, each player commits characters in player order, so Theodred couldn't give a resource to a player that hasn't yet committed characters.
    2.) You left a note that Mendor's response should have been used in round 1 but LotR LCG has specific rules for the word "Then" (which I hate as it's contrary to normal logic) where the preceding sentence must resolve in FULL for the "post Then" effect to resolve. Since the "pre Then" effect says to ready Mendor, if you didn't actually ready Mendor then you don't get to trigger the "post Then" effect. Basically, Mendor typically has to go on the quest to get the quest clearing benefit.

    14:10 you were still in a Planning phase after playing Gandalf (that was an Action window) and drawing the cards. So technically you could still play Celebrian's Stone for +2 willpower before starting the quest phase...hopefully I am not wrong 🙂

    • @Draktok
      @Draktok Před 9 měsíci

      he played gandalf with a sneak attack action window during the quest phase - otherwise gandalf wouldn't have been able to commit to the quest, as the planning phase he would have gone away.

  • @davidko9289
    @davidko9289 Před 2 lety +3

    Sneak Attack + Gandalf makes it look easy =D.
    With max 3 of each, and 60 card decks, it's hard to have anything resembling consistency, so unfortunately the other scenarios will probably be harder.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  Před 2 lety

      @David Ko Agreed. The one thing I really enjoy about Marvel Champions is the use cards as resources and draw a new hand every turn. The draw a card, gain a resource really is a down side for me in this game (and Arkham). But that Sneak Attack and Gandalf combo is SWEET!! :)

    I also picked up this game recently - bought all revised content. It is little bit familiar to me since I also own MC (I do not have everything but quite a lot of MC stuff). As a huge fan of LotR I really like this game. Maybe I will change my mind after I play Escape from Dol Guldur 🙂 But I am already prepared for a defeat 🙂 And if I get stuck with the revised core deck, I will unpack some of the starter decks. Good game, next mission is harder and the third one I don't even play anymore (I won it once and I am done with it!).
    I usually play in 'sleazy' mode, start with one extra ressource but leave all the gold cards in the encounter deck, mostly because i cannot be bothered sorting them out :p

      For cards getting shuffled I use Dragon Shield clear matte sleeves, and then for the character identity card, main villain card, and main schemes I use FFG sleeves (basically any premium sleeve that is clear on both sides). The Dragon Shield clear matte sleeves are "blurry" on one side, so not the best for dual sided cards but I love the way they feel. Hope that helps, and happy gaming!! :)
