    Thank you. I listen to all of these on me bike rides. Just 3 more dialogues left. The republic took the longest but was very rewarding:) greetings from America

    ~37:00 - in this translation it sounds identical to Aristotle’s ‘unmoved mover’. This is a lot more articulate than Benjamin jowetts statesman translation.

    Kudos to you for being able to read this entire thing aloud, damn. I appreciate this, and the sophist. Thanks.

    I echo the previous commenter’s compliment. I wish you would read the various writings of Aristotle.

      There's a chance. Once I have done Plato and Plotinus. Unless lots of people request it. Then how could I not do it. 👍

      @@lewiskirk8289 That would be great if you can. There are a couple of solid readings of his Ethics and Politics but not so much of the other works.

    Ever thought of selling your readings on audible too?? Your reading would easily surpass the the current audible selection in quality and you have dialogues that aren’t even available in audible

    The best way to understand Plato from a western mindset is to Christianitze him then take away all the Chrestian teachings that Plato doesn’t teach, there then is a correct understanding of Plato :) homer may have learned of the Hebrews’ oral teachings of Moses when he was in Egypt but there’s no single piece of evidence of that. Curious to think about though. Have you read Dominion by Tom Holland ? I highly recommend it !

      This is most certainly not the best way to read Plato.
      In fact, it’s not even a good way to read him.

    • @whist5618
      @whist5618 Před 2 lety

      Many of the early Christian thinkers (i.e. Justin Martyr, Augustine of Hippo, Origen Adamantius, etc.) were directly or indirectly influenced by Plato and incorporated elements of his Philosophy into Christian Theology.
      By reading Plato in such a way, you would, inadvertently, be at risk of removing his own teachings because some Christian happened to agree with him.
