The cold weather is drawing in and the carp fishing is getting tough, me and my dad put the feeder rods down and headed out to target some still water Pike!
Our chosen venue was Low Mill Lodge in Chorley! (Address below).
I will run you through some of the setup and equipment you will need to have a go yourself!

I believe Fladen is Norwegian but I may be wrong, great vid as per but I would suggest making up your own treble traces, the premade ones can be a bit 💩

Call in at Morrisons bud, they sometimes do a tray of sprats which are 5 or 6 inch long for next to no money!! Freeze any you don't use.

Quick little advice on the float, idk if you know this but make sure the float is tilting, like 45 degrees angle like, so the bait is on the bottom for pike to pick up the bait.

So does the weight lay on the btm or is it suspended? How over depth would you fish the rig as a starting point?
The weight lay on the bottom yes, that usually when the float is tilting, if the float is flat without float stop touching the float means you have too much line underneath the float and pike will get deep hooked before indication.

Thoroughly enjoyable video. Good start to pike fishing and it is tough. But once you find where they hang out it can be so productive. Next time you go piking together can i suggest one of you hunts the lake with a lure. If you get a hit try setting up a dead bait near to it but keep hunting that spot.

I've got my first 20lb carp recently on a normal method feeder and the korum phase 1 feeder rods and for the price there great 👍. I used bread . Do you think that the Korda bait up method feeders are good for big carp fishing or are the method feeders just as good .

I have caught on the bait up feeders, but I think if you want a large method feeder for big carp the ESP ones are better 🎣
@@WestysAngling have you tried the esp ones? Since I've just ordered the bait up ones but if they are worse I'll return them and get the esp ones
No companies have been working on specimen style method feeders, the esp ones are about 11 years old

great to see ya both piking!....my first preferance in angling...njoy ...maybe try single circle hooks on ya next visit....for the size baits ya using ...as soon as ya get and indication ...dont strike just lift into the bite....ya mite be pleasently suprised....check singles out!.....tight lines matt as always...
I have used them for cats never for pike! But I know they are effective 💪🏻 what size do you recommend?

Karen incoming!!!!!!! You should be using 30lb mainline minimum for piking to avoid leaving a live rig in the water if you get snagged or making sure you can save a fish if it takes you into a snag. tut tut
