    Congratulations! You speak truth about benzos. The struggle is real. You are healing. I know the depths of hell in this. Benzo Withdrawl Syndrome scares me but with more windows I don't think it'll happen.

    Well Dan, I've been following you from the beginning. I'm 3 months ahead of you. You have been getting better since the early days. I'm hoping the healing speeds up for you. I still have insomnia after 12 months, at least you can sleep. Head pressure, eye pressure, blurred vision still there, not nearly as bad. DR reduced but there. However, I screwed up and stopped both benzo & SSRI, at the same time, big mistake. People & Docs don't admit to SSRI withdrawal either! I am getting friends getting exhausted with my recovery. I'm much older than you and my friends have their own health issues. You have time on your side, more than you realize, you will back it back.

    Im so sorry you are going through this. I am in hell with it myself. Been on diazepam 20 years for back spasm. I had no idea until I tried to stop. It is a hell beyong description. I had no idea I have been in interdose withdrawal for years because I have other health problems and thought it was that. I am bedridden. I can't bear to touch my own body it feels so alien to me. The bed clothes feel so wrong they frighten me. The sound of paper rusttling is too loud. My whole body is is spasm. I can't bare most food. There is no comfort at all.
    I will check your other vids hut it is so helpful that you bothrred to do this. Thank you so much!

    it's a slow process but you'll get there! I haven't watched all your videos but what has helped me with withdrawal is running, eating right, and taking supplements like krill oil and a good multi. our brains can heal themselves, they just need some help sometimes. hope things continue to improve!

    All the best, Dan. You never know, you may not have trouble coming off the mirtazapine. I didn't - but boy did I suffer with benzo withdrawal. Still get symptoms after a year but I can function again. Anxiety is the worst symptom left plus head pressure & DP/DR. Good luck with the mirtazapine. It's a small dose you're on - I was on a large dose, 30 mg but noticed no worsening of my existing benzo symptoms. Onwards and upwards! ☺

    • @daninrecovery

      I hope not, I have a feeling alot of my brain issues stem from mirtazapine, seemed to get me as soon as I started it but I figured it would ware off. Thanks for the reply.

    5 weeks 1 day off Xanax. On Xanax for 10 years. The anxiety, depression and insomnia are debilitating. I'm still working 40 hours a week, and I. Am. Done. I just told my husband I have to cut back to 30 hours, and he freaked out. I'm struggling to even want to live, let alone continue to pretend to function while working full time.
    Outside of work I'm living my life in bed. If you can call it living. I can't do this anymore. I just can't.

    I see it as 100 steps forward and 99 steps back, it is so much harder when you're not believed, I was told that it's a very weak person that gets to this point, but it takes a super human to stop, the people that beat this, you my friends can do anything, think about how you felt before you took your first benzo, then think how you felt after you stopped, which one would you pick to live with? I can go on and on, you hear people say stay strong, stay positive, to me, they were just words people are saying, do they really know how hard this is? Stay strong and say positive. Lol

    I know man..i was on 6 years and i been off for 7 and i want to go back on and stabilize then taper the right way... but no doctor believes me either... I'm confused. I dont wanna go back on but my doc prescribed me a few and that was the first time i felt normal in 7 months... I've lost 30 pounds..i have to argue with these doctors cause at this point we know wayyyy more about benzos than these doctors and psychiatrists do. Funny you mentioned the lsd symptoms cause i described the withdrawal as being on acid and having the worst anxiety of your life!

  • @snakeriverwatch
    @snakeriverwatch Před 7 lety

    i think this might have something to do with the morning anxiety we have been talking about: The cortisol awakening response (CAR) is an increase of about 50% in cortisol levels occurring 20-30 minutes after awakening in the morning in some people. This rise is superimposed upon the late-night rise in cortisol which occurs before awakening. While its purpose is uncertain, it may be linked to the hippocampus' preparation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) in order to face anticipated stress.[citation needed]
    it all pretty complicated.

  • @Kimmm1984
    @Kimmm1984 Před 7 lety +1

    For me the mental is still the worst as well. A lot of the physical symptoms have left, but I'm not able to tolerate stress unfortunately. I have to work and have 2 kids, so it's a huge struggle. I'm not able to take ibuprofen or anything like that either, everything unnatural can set me off. I'm so glad I'm almost 9 months off, the longer we are off, the more healing has been done.

    Please leave a synopsis of your status at the time of withdrawal, e.g. used X at 20mg daily for 6 years. Stopped after 5 months of taper; or cold turkey. ‘How about insomnia and ability to concentrate. ‘Appreciate the detail and trust you’ll stay with it.👍

    Hope you are having Windows lately. Question: rashes? Red dime size rash in pairs appearing arms and body. I don't remember if it was you, but a benzo channel mentioned skin problems and rashes during recovery. Was it you or hear about rashes? They appeared after several weeks of off the chart anxiety.

  • @paullangton-rogers2390

    9 months is great keep hanging in there and 60% will be 100% when your brain receptors are fully normalized. What kind of dose Xanax were you on and for how long? Did you taper off slowly and use a long acting benzodiazepine like Valium during the taper period? A medicine really useful for Benzodiazepine Withdrawal symptoms is Pregablin which helps with GABA receptor issues caused by Benzodiazepines and alchololism.

      snakeriverwatch - I mentioned to Dan that since my mornings became soo miserable & disjointed, I now just sleep in and, live more at night. There is definitely less stress & I've found people a lot more friendly after about 6:30 pm; daytime seems quite wired which I don't need or handle well. As one a bit older, I've stressed about getting beyond benzo's 'in time' to enjoy some twilight time before that final curtain; then I realized with benzo's I'd likely not care to be around at all so, thank-goodness pieces are slowly falling into place.....most of the time.

    • @snakeriverwatch
      @snakeriverwatch Před 7 lety +1

      Kim Dennis interesting comment, I'm much older than Dan and have only experienced benzo withdrawal the past year of my life. I feel for Dan going through this in his productive years. The night person concept is an interesting one, it has crossed my mind. I never had insomnia until cold turkeyed benzo. Now 1 year of very poor sleep. Sleeping during the day is tough for me, the light, noise are bad in my living arrangement. At sunrise, the anxiety kicks in and physical problems , hard to function. Sometimes I don't settle down until 8 or 9 pm, then don't want to go to bed.
      Any tricks for daytime sleeping?

    didn't the prescribing Doctor let you taper??? even then it's very scary but it can be deadly or debilitating if you aren't allowed to taper. I found that out when I simply stopped taking xanax (only .05 MG). my Doctor made me go back on and she let me taper. I know most Doctors aren't as smart as her though. I was very lucky...still suffered for months but not as much as when I just stopped taking it without tapering.
