    I absolutely love this video series, don carr is the man! Im a huge Corey fan as well. I just joined another cover band here in NJ and they play a 1/2 down. I decided to bring my Drop which i put first inline. I feel like overdriven its pretty ok but clean it is a little laggy, like a feel thing more than an audible thing. But here with Corey playing clean it sounds great. Any suggestions?

      edit: he says there is some latency thats not really noticeable during whole band, i agree however something still feels weird for me, glitchy on clean, fine on overdrive but might mess with my feedback and harmonics like a slight noise gate, again any suggestions? • @coreycongilio

      It’s just a simple in and out. However they do interfaces with transformers. Sometimes I’ll put a fuzz first instead of the drop and a transformer could mess with that. The volume pedals has been modded with a buffer and the board is a combination of true bypass and buffered bypass pedals.

    Corey says he's got it all covered but has no distortion and no FX loop on his amp. All he's got is low/mid overdrive from pedals and all his time based effects sound less than optimal placed upfront of the preamp. Good thing he's a great player cos his board is nowhere near a Swiss Army board :) If he wants to cover it all I suggest he upgrades to a versatile (non Fender) amp that has great distortion and a series loop.

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Peter, I think you may have missed the point of the video and pedalboard. 1. This board excels when I have to fly and use backline amps (typically single channel Fenders as that’s what is common with rental companies). 2. If the board was wired for a loop, what happens when I show up and the amp doesn’t have a loop? 3. These ODS stacked can get heavy actually and I’ll eq to taste on the amp by usually keeping the bass low and mid at noon or higher. This video was shot just as I would experience a backline rental show. I assure you that in person (not through a video) the rig is quite organic and, a large percentage of touring guitarists don’t use channel switching amps or fx loops as you just don’t know what you’ll get as backline from night to night…particularly if you’re flying in for a one off and haven’t had the luxury of bringing your rig on the bus. Last month I flew in to a show and there was a mistake with the rental company. I got an AC15. I had to make it work and this board did the trick. Best of luck on your tone quest!

    • @peterhughes8699
      @peterhughes8699 Před 2 lety

      @@coreycongilio You've confirmed I didn't miss the point Corey. You have no distortion and Fender amps don't have loops. Stacking a few low gain overdrives doesn't produce distortion. And if the studio insists on using non versatile Fender amps instead of modern amps with FX loops you can quickly re-arrange the board to suit. I can see how your rig would be fine for blues, pop and country but ain't no good for rock, heavy rock, metal or punk. It's just not versatile :) You could make it much more versatile by replacing 1 of the low gain ODs with a versatile pedal that does both great OD thru to high gain distortion. There's plenty around :)

    • @Ottophil
      @Ottophil Před 2 lety +1

      @@peterhughes8699 i just use a fender twin for cleans, 6505 half stack for distortion. I use the same pedalboard for both. With a jumper in 2 cable mode, or without in 4. I don’t use my fender for gain stuff , the lack of loop isnt important then

      @Guitaural. Před 2 lety

      He uses this for fly dates and he covered the reasoning though...this isn't necessarily his 'home studio' setup, although it could handle it with no problem. Not everyone wants an effects loop and a rack of servers to process their sound, regardless of where they're playing.
