    This is my second time watching you paint the black-capped chickadee that looks fantastic! We have I believe sparrows in the backyard frolicking in the shrubs and looks like they are having fun in their natural habitat. I should be painting more but don't want to go into a whirlwind. I have been taking on projects at home that need attention.😁 I am discovering Angi's list to be very customer oriented and best of all there are not three project going on at one time. Thank you for another one of your many outstanding paintings! You make learning fun and are a great encouragement to beginners and more advanced artists alike!😁

    I am 66 yrs old, a doctor by profession and had never touched a brush or Color but had so much desire to paint! So after my retirement, first thing I searched on CZcams was painting tutorials and luckily found yours! I love birds watching, hence tried birds sketches via Color pencils followed by your bird’s paintings 😊 thank you so much. I really appreciate your mentoring 👍

Never tried acrylics but I had to quit oils after becoming extremely allergic to the various mediums used with oils. Anyway, might even check into your classes...will have to see!!! Hi Dave love your birds over there I am from Oz I think you know anyway you are so right about repeating the same habit even though I have only done a few dozen of your flowers and can't yet get it I find I won't either as I keep doing the very same thing over and over so much that this one particular canvas has that much texture I can't get nice results anymore so back into the corner it goes again and I think I will sand it off, saying that I had a break as I was doing my head in and painted a nice peacock which came easily with flowers and then back to yours and nope still can't. I am now going to paint something else just for my mental state haha, I have painted all types of things and love buildings very much. I look forward to the blue bunting as the lilacs are my fav colour and I might vibe with it better. Shanks again lovin your company, ha when Pete goes to bed I always say I am staying up with Dave hahaha

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  Před 4 lety

      Hi Silvia.... If I can make a suggestion. You learn faster if you don't sand it off and start a new one. Always keep your work. It will help you make a comparison later on. I used my practice boards all the time in class to show students where and how I came off. I never sand even though sometimes you really feel the need to!!! 😊

The list of the Long Handle Fusion Brushes for sale there, shows 18 different ones, including filberts, flats, rounds, liners, and three sets: 'beginners (3) Fusion Filbert (5) and Flat set (5) I would really appreciated if you could kindly let me know which ones and how many should I purchase from the list. Thanks so very much.

      Hi Linda, My favorites size is a #10 or 8 fusion flat and the 3/4 inch. There is a new 1/2 inch coming that I will be using in a new Alla Prima painting series for youtube in September. My daughter Jessica and son in law Dave manage that online store and can give you some great ideas if you email them at JansenArtStudio@aol.com. They are always watching what I use and putting together sets at lower prices.

      I paint under LED. They are the best. I get so much pure light. I don't like the warm spectrum below 3000k because you get too sleepy. I don't like the "natural" specturm 4000k and above. It makes your eyes tired after awhile. I like the 3500k LEDs. They are perfect for me. The more "lumens" the more light it puts on your painting. 3500k lets you "see' the colors better. I like these...

      @@JansenArtEducation Thank you so much. I just received a box of supplies from your store and a pack of 9x12" MDF panels from another source. I looked through your videos and only found one for texturing a canvas board. For MDF panels, do I need a sealer and then gesso? Do I gesso front and back? Or just gesso the front and paint the 1/4" sides and back? For this painting, would you use the brush texturing or just leave smooth? (This is the type I got: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R32SPKV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

      Hi Teri, Gesso is very old school. You don't need that if your using Heritage. Just give a basecoat with Heritage, dry, sand lightly with 180 sandpaper and your ready to go. I stopped using gesso years and years ago when higher quality acrylics came out.

      When painting casually each artist will have there own look to the brush movement, just like you do with handwriting. Alla Prima artists call it "brush calligraphy". I started using the term many years ago after reading Al Gury's book called Alla Prima. Describes it really well.
