This movie made me gain so much respect for Kristen. Great performance. Believable without trying too hard

It's a bit like seeing a shitty version of "Cats" then being surprised when the actors don't appear in cat costume and makeup afterwards, in other roles:)
Camp X-Ray and American Ultra are great. Adventureland is better than Ultra.
Personal Shopper is another good K Stew role.
Speak is also good.
Personal Shipper is extraordinary.

She's got a hefty amount of good roles under her belt.

I just saw this. Absolutely stunning. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, at least at first pass, but the script is so rich, with many layers. I think it's a film I could see many times, and I generally watch movies only once. Thx to Mr Assayas for creating two such deeply affecting and strong women characters -- a rarity. Also, the clouds of Sils Maria themselves were exquisite to watch.
This movie was superb. Stewart was wildly impressive. Saw it at a film festival last year

I think speak called for her natural stoicism which looks like she isn't bothering to act yet she projects a traumatised teen very well
Also the safety of objects Kristen Stewart did a amazing performance in that film as well she was only 12 or 13 at the time but she was very captivating
+shaan louisa I think there are many good American actresses who are just underutilized in Hollywood films--Kristen being one of them. Known her to be a great actress since seeing her in Panic Room but she appeared in movies I never really liked till now. The French make great films for actors to chew on.

This movie changed me from the inside I don't know,the scenes of mountains,the music and especially Julliet and Kirsten I can't explain but it feels like life is like the clouds...and i feel free...
This film was excellent. Juliette was fantastic as always, and Kristen Stewart was surprisingly great. I have to agree though that the trailer is a bit misleading about what actually happens in the movie. Still, it's worth a watch. The direction and cinematography were beautiful.
Ohhh.. This movie... Beyont any expectactions! Amazing! Mesmerizing! Complex! Deep portrayals! The music is on point ( perfect). Olivier is a genius and when a genius partners with Binoche nothing can go wrong.. Just loved it.

Hate for Kristen Stewart aside, she looks like shes doing pretty well in this one. Coupled with Moretz should be a good show.
I was on a list of top films of 2014 and had just finished an action flick and then got to this and it seemed sooooo bloody slow. But I'm glad I stuck with it and gave it a chance because there's something about it that keeps you glued to your tv the whole time.

The movie is brilliant, a pearl, but the trailer is horribly misleading :P A gay girl can have fantasies build on the trailer, and those fantasies will fade and cool while watching the actual movie, haha.

Recently I have noticed that the reason I dont read or watch certain movies or books is simply because they are not gay enough... which is both a beautiful and doomed philosophy to live by.
vltRakuen Only by suggestion. There's a gay theme in the play the 'older' woman is rehearsing for but that's about it.
I feel like you didn‘t get the movie, which is why you may be disappointed. Yes, the main characters aren‘t openly gay and there will be no sex scene or what ever-the only openly lesbian theme lies in the play, in which the older women plays the main character (which you correctly pointed out). BUT there is sexual tension between her and her assistant (which I immediatly sensed and was confirmed by the director), and that is in the focus of the whole film: the relationship of the older and younger woman, which is concretised in the play but finds its parallel in real life. In the play, the older woman ends up commiting suicide; in „real life“, it‘s the younger woman who does. That is to show what the director of the play says in this trailer: „they [younger&older] are the same person“. That is what the actress wouldn‘t understand and only realised, once her assistent committed suicide.
So yes, it is a „gay movie“, but-in this case you‘re right-without sex scene
An na You nailed it but I don't think Valentine dies. It's deliberately ambiguous. But to me, Valentine represents the part of Maria that dies. The loss of Valentine is the final loss of her youth.
*SPOILER ALERT* Where/how did you get that Val committed suicide??? I didn't get that at all from the movie, I thought she just finally had enough of Marie's BS and took off. She'd tried to tell her she wanted to leave & she freaked out and begged her to stay & that she needed her, etc so this time she didn't bother saying anything, she just has had enough & takes off. I've read reviews of the film that have said something similar.
Also I think it's very revealing that right before she leaves they're talking about the movie & Maria says something about Helena committing suicide and Val says she didn't think that she did & that it's very subjective and ambiguous in the movie (I'm not quoting her exactly but that's the essence of what she was saying). And they're kind of arguing about it and Maria asks what she thinks happened to her then and Val says she thinks she just took off basically...which is a clue foreshadowing that she's about to do the same

So impressed by Kristen Stewart, I think she kind of landed the wrong role for her in Twilight series, cause in the last few films she's been brilliant. Gone from an actress that didn't impress me at all to one of my favourite!
Flora Tinuviel she was always great. She had one role (twilight) which definitely put her on the map but was also terrible. Wasn’t totally her fault. All the actors performed less than desire able in that. But I think it was more the script and directions of the films. She was in many movies before twilight which made me intrigued by her. Minus zathura. That movie was just trash. But many people don’t know about her acting from before twilight. Unfortunately that franchise set her back because it turned a lot of people off.
All the best bits are in the trailer, the other six hours are dull dull dull

I really did love this movie, but my big question is: WHAT HAPPENED TO VAL?!?!
It is a very well played and complicated movie, I liked it in a weird way.
i think the trailer is misleading and the boss/assistant relationship with maria is burning Val out until she eventually leaves
I think it there's a parallel between this and the play. Val disappeared when she was hiking just as Helena disappeared in the play hiking.

I don’t know how to feel about this trailer. It jumps all over the place, moves to fast, and I can’t keep up. I know the point of a trailer is to get the idea across in a short amount of time but I don’t feel like this was done very well, if at all.
For me the problem is more what others are saying in that it's very misleading....but the actual movie is good IMO
